#559038 Thank You Robbie

Posted by BLUENUT on 21 November 2012 - 03:13 PM

Hello all, I haven't posted for a while.

I thought I'd start a seperate thread to show a bit of appreciation for the man who delivered the first Champions Leauge or European cup to the capital, not just Chelsea, but we became the first club in London to win it, and he became the first manager to win it for a London club, which is an achievement in itself!

I'd also like to thank Robbie for one of the greatest days of my life, for his goal in the first FA cup final victory in my life-time, and the first major trophy I'd ever seen us win after years in oblivion. The trophy that started the long journey to where we are now - without that win against Middlesborough, who know's where we'd be now?? (Just look a Boro!)

He scored another winner against Villa a few years later, to seal his fate in the record books, but his career was unfortunatley cut short due to a horrific injury sustained while wearing the Chelsea blue!

He was kept on by the club, not in a professional role, but was allowed to carry on using the training facilities and would take training sessions with the youth team to educate our youngsters out of his own time.

Returning as assistant to AVB, he took over leadership of a wrangled dressing room as caretaker, with a mandate to galvanise the group to get us over the finish line. In doing this he also took us to another cup final and won it!

Robbie also superceeded all expectations, getting us through an alomost impossible position by qualifying for the next round of the Champions league, and getting us not only to the final but winning it against all odds, beating arguably the best club side in the world with 10 men, then beating the Germans in their own stadium, which was effectively an away game.

He may have not been the greatest manager in the world or even the best manager who has tried to bring the cup back to the capital, but he was ours, our Robbie, and he may have rode the luck of the gods, but he brought that group of players together and he did it!! Many have tried and failed!

For all the memories, days out, great nights and crazy emotional moments RDM has given me over my Chelsea supporting life-time (not just the past 6 month) I'd just like to take my hat off to a man who is nothing more than a Chelsea legend.

Thanks Robbie - you're one of us and always will be!!

#458202 So, just got off the phone with Bobby Tambling...

Posted by Gem on 19 February 2012 - 07:06 PM

... As you do on a regular Sunday night I suppose.

ARGH! I JUST HAD A 10 MINUTE CONVERSATION WITH BOBBY TAMBLING!!!!! (and 1 min with his lovely wife)

He called to thank me for the card. He said it was the greatest piece of fan memorabilia he had ever received and it now sits proudly in him home. Nurses, doctors, visitors etc all saw this card and it became a legendary piece in the hospital!!! He (and Val, obviously) found it such an uplifting thing and when he received it - he wasn't in a good place, but to see how much effort had gone into it and how much the fans still think about him - it made him feel so overwhelmed and he genuinely said it helped his recovery.

He wanted me to pass on A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to The Shed End for their messages and how much he appreciated reading all the kind words at a very hard time for him and his family.

He sounded chipper, he was full of good humour and was just a genuinely lovely bloke. He's also invited me for drinks as he wants to meet me, before the Stoke game in March when he says he'll hopefully be down next.

Okay, did any of that make sense?! Probably not, I'm a tad overwhelmed!! I told my dad and he got teary!!

Any more details just ask but at the moment I'm on cloud 9!!!!

#505171 Well Done Chelsea

Posted by fcumark on 19 June 2012 - 01:40 PM

Just thought I had to post congratulations to your club on the way I was treated last weekend on a trip to London.

My trip was to visit every league ground in London excluding Watford &Wimbledon over a 2 day period, I wrote to every club asking if possible to gain entry to take some pitch side photos. Only 6 clubs bothered to reply, the rest I had to keep ringing with no joy.

Only Chelsea, Charlton, West Ham, QPR & Dagenham let me gain access to get some photos with your club pulling out all the stops to help me right, from my first letter to my eventual visit.

Considering the way football has gone money orientated it was a pleasure to be treated as a football fan, not a customer with a wallet to empty.

Both Arsenal & Tottenham were rude to the point that I felt they would rip anyone off, with both stating that I would have to take a full stadium tour costing x amount of money just to take a couple of pitch side photos, even though I had explained this would not be possible due to the time constraints of the trip.

It would have been easy for a club like yours to have treated me like Tottenham & Arsenal did, but the point is they didn't. They treated me like a football fan and that has given me pride again in our great game. Never will I hear a bad word against Chelsea without letting people know how well treated I was while their.

Here's to Chelsea FC Not only Champions of Europe but in my eyes the most hospitable club in London.

All the best for the Future

#492125 Liverpool, Spurs,Arsenal, QPR, LEEDS, Hear me now!

Posted by Chapelhay on 20 May 2012 - 12:53 PM

LIVERPOOL- Where's your history now ya mugs! I will tell you, its in the land of Oxford bags, platform shoes, kipper f****n ties and The f****n Bay City Rollers! You keep living in the past because that is all you have, and we will keep making history! Now just F**K OFF.

SPURS- That is what you do, you go out and you fight to the last man, you believe in yourselves you keep the faith and you don't give up, what you don't do is think that you are better than you actually are, and you don't Gob off before it is actually all over, and you certainly don't think that another team is going to do it for you, you F****d it up by not having enough bottle! Now go and set your sky plus for Thursday nights on channel 5 and just F**K OFF.

ARSENAL- Tell me really, how does it truly feel to know that we beat you to it! You keep finishing in the top 3 and you will be able to sit your grandchildren on your knees and tell them about the times when your manager thought that making money was more important than winning trophies, I am sure they will be enthralled. Now just F**K OFF.

QPR-I actually feel a little bit sorry you, you are just an embarrassment, you remind me of a teenage boy who has been caught with his dick inside his sisters pet hamster! You know what's coming so just F**K OFF.

LEEDS- Just F**K OFF.

To my fellow Chelsea fans that has just taken me 43 years to get that off my chest, I now feel born again.

#594024 16/01/13 - Bite Roman on the Arse Day

Posted by just on 16 January 2013 - 10:56 PM

So it came to pass that after the numerous hirings, firings, dud-strikers and 1001 other self-inflicted cock-ups, 16th January 2013 was officially named "Bite Roman on the Arse Day"

Bite Roman on the Arse Day when the manager he has been chasing after like a love-sick puppy for the best part of three years spurned his advances and chose another club where he will be allowed to manage the team as he alone sees fit without any outside interference. Leaving Roman dejected and thinking what a peculiar set-up they must have at Bayern.

Bite Roman on the Arse Day when one of the worst managerial appointments this club has ever made, (nice one RA), gave us another display of his tactical genius and inspirational man-management skills.

Last May in Munich seems a long, long time ago. It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic. For anyone holding out any hope the the Special One is returning home, today was a sobering one. He would be bloody mad to take on this fiasco. Which leaves us with the Interim or Gary Megson.

Happy "Bite Roman on the Arse Day" everyone.

Thank you every one. Worst year of my life and I walked away from all of you. When I returned I appreciated that you didn't question, just allowed me to slip back in. This joy is less than you deserve but I am sure you will settle for it. I nearly checked out for ever but am glad I didn't - love this moment, love those who care, love those who take the time to  put you first when you needed it and take damn good care.

Tonight we smile. Never forget how good it feels.

... Coz he ain't got nuttink on our one.

Raise your hands if your the greatest left back in world football

Well, this little guy can't be wrong can he?

Posted Image

"Ashley Ashley - do you have a message to the girl who started the '100 reasons why we don't need Ashley Cole' topic?"

Posted Image

Well, fair enough, that put me in place. But surely to be considered great you have to win trophies?

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Well that's hardly anything, you can't be considered 'the greatest' until you win the Champions Leag...

Posted Image

Ah sod... Okay, but only the greatest players perform in the biggest of games - can you say that you've stepped up to the plate? Laid it on the line? Put yourself forward in the name of Victory? Stood up to be counted?

Posted Image

... Well, I suppose that counts.

Finally... want to add anything that will cement your place in CFC folklore?

Posted Image

The man deserves an appreciation thread, no more so than after Sunday. There were fans around here who called him Cashley, Gullit4 had his 'Cashley' avatar for ages after he signed & I started that pathetic 100 reasons topic. Can't really think of any thing more creative to put together in a short space of time - Ashley, thank you for everything - here's to many more moments to come [for Chelsea, England can f*ck off].

#585105 Demba Ba for Chelsea *Now confirmed signing"

Posted by just on 04 January 2013 - 12:28 PM

Sky Sports have confirmed Demba is joining on a 3 and a half year deal - after passing his medical.

Great Stuff!

Apparently it was a stringent two part medical;

1. The club doctor stood him on the edge of the six yard box and asked if he could see the goal.

2. Mata, passed him a ball on the edge of the six yard box and Ba had to roll it in.

He passed both tests first time. The rest of the lads burst into spontaneous applause and shoulder carried him off the pitch. Torres fell over.

#648506 Man Utd v Chelsea (PL) Sun 05/05/13 KO 16:00 BST

Posted by Davey Baby on 05 May 2013 - 05:41 PM

Wrong. So stupid. Gonna get hammered in the media. Probably won't get a decision for the rest of the season now.

I was proud of Luiz today. He is definite captain material. We were getting nothing off Webb and Luiz gave him an earful and got booked for it, which was just what we needed. Too often we just let things slide when we're getting pissed over because we lack character and that win-at-all-costs mentality. Webb booked Luiz but Luiz had got his message across, "Don't take the piss out of us". Next thing you know, Rooney's claim for a foul is ignored and we score, and Rafael quite rightly gets sent off. Utd do what they do (because they are winners) and steam in and for once in our bloody lives we stand up for ourselves and give them a bit of argy bargy. That's what Chelsea is all about and we need to get that reputation back. We are way too meek for my liking and people take way too many liberties. We were getting a raw deal and we got angry and that changed things and Utd no longer had it their own way and Webb was forced IMO to start refereeing fairly. Sure, Luiz shouldn't have laughed, but boy did I f**king enjoy it. We can worry about the rest of the season but today was massive and I'm convinced Luiz got inside Webb's head and we benefited. Remember, we never get anything off refs anyway. A bit more of what we saw today and that might change.

LLL .. That stands for Long Live Luiz.

#575745 Fair play Chelsea

Posted by LS8_whites on 19 December 2012 - 09:46 PM

Wasn't expecting a win tonight and to be 1-0 up against a team with Mata and Oscar was incredible.

To be humiliated like that is always horrible (and it's not the first time we've conceded at least five goals at home in recent years) but there is a real gulf in class between the Championship and the upper Premier League. I didn't think we played too badly, but you were just too much.

I know there's a bit of animosity between my club and yours but in all honesty I hate Man United and Liverpool more. ;)

Deserved win.

#620042 Latest message from Gourlay

Posted by bjd on 05 March 2013 - 05:16 PM

Mentioned this on another thread and im sure some might see it as being picky but i find it sad, yet very typical that our Chief Exec chooses to speak to the international brand fans about in the Far East about future plans rather than speak to the paying fans back home who go to the matches home and away and who have had to suffer the nonsense (and silence from the heriachy)we have been put through this season. Its the first offical word from the club for ages and it just typical. If anything he's clouded the Lampard issue further too. The way Gourlay talks about 'keeping promises' to the fans in the Far East is insulting bearing in mind how he and his colleagues have managed to alienate the whole fanbase back home this season.

Buck, Gourlay, Tennbaum, Emenalo, if it was up to me the lot of these yes men would go in the Summer and we could start again.

#585034 Shameless bullsh*t from Ron Gourlay

Posted by bjd on 04 January 2013 - 11:21 AM

Where is that from ? Also wouldve been nice if the club had pubically thanked Robbie just after they sacked him rather than waiting till now.

Posted this yesterday and do do not apologise for posting it again. When Robbie was sacked we were 3rd, 4 points off the top. We are now 4th, 14 points of the top.

Robbie had won at WHL and at The Emirates and was utterley robbed against Utd. Interim has had easier fixtures and these have included our first defeat to local rivals West Ham in a decade and then possibly the worst league defeat in recent memory to more local rivals Qpr.

Its utter nonsense we are 'moving in the right direction'.

On top of that the spark has gone from the team and also the fanbase. Every passing day interim remains at our club his mere prescence sucks more of the soul from it.

Its horffic spin from Gourlay. Spoken by someone who truly has no concept of what the fans feel.

Posted by geezer on 23 December 2012 - 11:31 AM

Was made redundant earlier this year. As a leaving present my team got me a framed shirt signed by all of the players involved in THAT final. Probably the greatest leaving present ever and a cherished memory of the greatest sporting day of my life. The shirt has pride of place on the wall now.

#658652 Paulo Ferreira, thanks for everything!

Posted by Andreas on 19 May 2013 - 09:39 AM

Today is most likely Paulo's last game for us, contract expires this summer and I can't see the club giving him a new one.

He's been a great servant here, not many players that are as loyal as him considering how much he has spent time on the bench, or even outside of the squad.

I really hope hes offered some sort of job at the club, he deserves it.

Thanks for everything Paulo!
