I'm surprised no-one has picked up on the fact that Anelka scored the 'perfect hat-trick' last week; left foot, header, right foot. I guess most of us remember JFH getting the perfect hat-trick against the spuds a few years back but does anyone recall any other Chelsea players achieving this feat?

Weird...I didn't realise it was a perfect hat-trick until you mentioned it.

Yep, first goal was a left-footed overhead kick, second was the header and third was the right foot shot into the corner

Did you know that officially a player can't claim a hat-trick in football if one of them is a penalty.

What's the logic behind that, Loz?

None really that I can think of. SOmebody somewhere obviously decided that for the purposes of 'official records' all three goals must come from open play - having said that I am not sure whether direct free kicks count.

Well it's a good job neither Nico or Jimmy Floyd-Piggybank scored from a penalty or free kick then.

Right up there with JFH's hattrick v Spuds for quality.

Really ? Odd that when a pen is given and a player is on 2 golas and he is not the normal penalty taker 9 times out of 10 he is handed the ball to complete the hattrick ?
strange rule

Think Gordon Davies at Everton Away circa 1984 was a LF, RF, header combo. Didn't Jimmy Floyd get 3 from outside the area against the Totts once?

Here in Europe you only call it a hattrick if all the three goals are scored in the same half.

I would say ALL hat-tricks scored against Spuds are perfect. Though some are just a bit more perfect than others.

And the JFH one was the most perfect of all perfects. I was lucky enough to be seated in the East Middle for the match, it was the bollocks and I'm proud to say I was there.
