The old X-Pert Eleven Thread was getting a little bit big so I have started a new one.

Season 7 is two games from the end but I think we all know it has been all over since game one.

Another crushing title win for those articulate Shed or Dead boys and another 19 nights of passion for manager Loz with the travelling Colombian nubile lovelies.

With only two games to go and a few pre-season friendlies this means we are about a fortnight or so away from starting season 8. The league, like George Michael, likes a bit of fresh meat, and the also rans in the league need soeone else to try forlornly to wrestle away the Shed's dominance.

So new players are very welcome.

The website adress is

http://www.xperteleven.com/

and the league ID is 118938

I need to run to work now but if anyone wants an explanation I can provide one tonight.

What is X-pert eleven exactly?

Would loz care to explain; he seems to be a regular champion at this malarkey...

I will write a quick guide either tonight or over the weekend. Basically it is a simple football game where you have a fictitous team and a transfer market etc and you have a private league where you play each other in the desperate hope to be runner up behind me!

OK this is X-Pert Eleven in two minutes.

It is a very simple football manager game. Unlike complex ones you don't worry about things like finances, advertising blah blah blah. All you have to worry about is picking your team for the next game, picking the formation they have to play, a few simple strategy selections (i.e long ball or wing play, defensive or attacking etc), training your players, and also trying to second guess what tactics your opponent will choose and set your team to negate it.

There is a transfer market in which you can buy and sell players to improve your squad or raise some dosh. The whole finance side is very simple. All you need to worry about is money for transfers and your income comes from your sponsors every week or two so you don't need to worry about managing finances the way you do in some games.

There are currently 12 of us in a league - mainly people on here with a couple of outsiders. Games are played at 11am UK time Monday and Friday however it doesn't actually matter if you can't be logged in at that time as you don't actually have any control over the games whilst they are being played. You just set the team up beforehand.

Theoretically you only need to log in twice a week at any point before your next game and set up your team for that match (which takes no more than 5 minutes) although you might want to log in a bit more regularly as you sometimes get messages (i.e. a player in your youth team being available for promotion into first team or a financial event which might mean you get some surprise money)

There is a bit more to it than that but that is more than enough to get you going - the rest you would pick up within a week or two of playing (i.e. things like dirty tricks where you can try and sabotage your next opponent)

We tend to play 3 or 4 pre-season friendlies between seasons so that will give newcomers a couple of weeks to get the hang of things before the new season starts.

If you want to join in the upcoming new season you first have to create a new account at http://www.xperteleven.com/ (clickon 'Join' in top left hand corner) (It is free) and fill in the application form details.

At this time you won't have a team yet - you then need to apply to play in the league (there will be a link somewhere on thepage, I can't remember exactly where. Our league ID is 118938.

Once you have applied to join the league an e-mail will be triggered to Michael who is the league administrator and he will approve your team. You will then get an e-mail to the e-mail address you used when you registered telling you your team is ready. You can then log back in and see the team you have been given. It will have a mix of ages and ability - normally at the start your team will be pretty iffy so it takes a little time to improve it. We did have one newcomer who nearly won the season at the first attempt - he only lost on goal difference on the very last day of the season after blowing a hefty points lead over the last 5 games.

Anyway that is enough for now. Basically join up (takes minutes) and once your team is registered by Michael feel freeto ask any quesitons on here and I will answer them for you.

In X-pert Eleven you play for 90 minutes and then Loz wins.

We all aim to end that next season :D

Just seen your teamin chelseabootboy. What you will find just now is the transger window is closed so you can't buy or sell any players. That is because we are right at the end of the current season. it will reopen soon.

A good idea is to challenge a couple of teams to a friendly so that you have a couple of pre-season games set up as this season ends.

To do that log in - clcik on 'League' in the left hand menu, click on the team you want to challenge in the league table that appears, then click on 'Challenge team' button on the right hand side of the screen.

that sends a message to the manager of the team you have challenged and as long as they accept your challenge you will have a friendly set up against them.

im baffled why is this thread presenting itself back to front ie with the most recent posts last?

Have you tinkered with a setting in your profile settings or at the top of the thread moi (make sure it is set to standard). Most recent last should be standard.

Loz, do you pick a team first like the other one?

It is entirely fictional players Mod - you are basically given a team at the start and it is up to you to improve it over time = Midlandblue missed that part and has made his team worse season after season.

No, I'm just being a plonker! I'm popping in and out from stacking my woodpile and my brain is acting like a dial-up instead of a broadband!

Luckily I did figure that out when it asked you what nationality your players will be. Expect a number of Jones in the side me thinks.

BTW when do I actually start tinkering with my team? Is it after I get accepted into the league?

Yes. Once you get accepted (which michael has to do and he is based down under so don't worry if you don't get an e-mail for a day or two - it depends when he next logs in) you will get an e-mail telling you your team has been approved. Then you can log in and see the team that has been randomly generated for you. Normally it will have some average players and a few poor ones - unlikely to have an really good ones but it may have a few young prospects.

Then you can start to use the transfer market.

Some things to think about / be aware of are:

1. Maximum squad size is 20 so if you have 20 and want to bring someone in then you need to sack or sell someone.

2. At the end of every season you get a 'Player Change Report' which shows for every member of your squad who has gone up and gone down in terms of their skill level. Therefore try and make sure you have a few youngsters in your squad sa they will improve season upon season. The more you play youngsters the more likely they are to improve.

3. When picking your first 11 form is probably more important than ability. Every player in your squad will have a skill level and a current form level (which you can see on your team page). Someone with say 6 skill and 17 form is probably a better pick then someone with 8 skill but 5 form.

4. Howevr if your player is out of form and he has high skill then you need to get him back into form. This can be done by training them but they will also need to play games. i.e. if your main defendr has poor form but you are about to play a team you expect to beat comfortably then you should pick him to try and play him back into form.

5. Every now and again you will get a message telling you that a youth player is ready to be promoted into your first team squad and you have to choose whether to accept them or not. Easy way tio build up your squad and also you may just get lucky and be offered a 16 year old with a lot of potential. You pay 30 thousand to promote a youth player and their value will be higher than that when they joijn the squad. Sometimes it is only a few hundred thousand but they can also be valued at millions so the temptation can be there to cash in on them.

you may mock, but turning a team that won back to back titles into an also ran is far from easy, just ask Avram.

Been accepted into the league, with an abundance of Welsh names. My favourite being Rhian Watkins - mostly because it's a girls name :(

Today was the last day of the current season so it won't be long till the new season starts and you can start playing friendlies and looking at the transfer market. The window opens again on Thursday morning.

First pre-season friendly date is this coming Friday so those of you with new teams it is worthwhile getting one arranged.

If anyone else is interested in joning in for the new season they need to get their application on soon as new teams have to be inplace for the start of the season.

Getting one arranged? You have to do it yourself?

Okay, better go do that. Hoping to play Rovers ;)
