I wasn't quite sure why we signed Turnbull either. Replacing Carlo Cudicini (once the best keeper in the Premiership) with Boro (who got relegated, remember!)'s second choice was never going to end well...
At least we have Hilario, who is solid if nothing else.

it's just one bad game, every player has one.
he's perfectly ok as a back up keeper.

Suppose so Lofty, but I just don't really see that much in him that fills me with confidence. We already had Taylor who had made a few appearances on the bench for us, and then we bring Turnbull in. This sticks Taylor further down the pecking order, and he's British so buying Turnbull just because he is too didn't make much sense.
Granted Taylor is only 19, and Turnbull is 24, but lets be honest here. No way was Turnbull taking Cechs place, and if it really came down to it I think we'd all pick Hilario ahead of Turnbull. Therefore, the whole premise of buying English and available, just because we can, for a 3rd string keeper doesn't really fill me with that much excitement, and more so after I've seen him in action!

I think you miss the point I was trying to make - which is that just because he's English and available isn't a good enough reason to sign him. "3 .... now you've lost me" (sarky bar steward that I am!) was supposed to give a clue to what I was getting at.

Ah gotcha, thought you were actually refering to my post.

I don't think it is just a bad game. I remember reading somewhere that he was loaned to a championship club, was first choice but made several mistakes in a number of games.
