I watched the England versus France U19 game.
Kakuta really caught the eye and was France's best player
I believe he will make our first team in the next season or two.
I'm looking forward to him getting a few games this coming season.
He should not be sent out on loan.
He should at least be on the bench for most games.

KAKUTA'S FRIDAY FINAL
In-form Gael Kakuta has been reflecting on reaching the Uefa Under 19 European Championship Final in his native northern France.
The Chelsea player scored the equaliser against Croatia to set up a showdown with Spain, the side that defeated Kakuta's French Under 17 side two years ago. He is acutely aware of the opposition's qualities.
'Spain are not our old friends, they are our enemies,' he said. 'Two years ago they trashed us 4-0 so it will be a good revenge for us.
'They take good care of the ball and are very patient. We will try to work on that. It will be a good match. After what they did to us two years ago, everybody is looking forward to it.'
The 19-year-old has been in exceptional form during the tournament, contributing superb solo goals and clever assists, though he felt a sense of guilt after surrendering possession in the build-up to Croatia's opener in the semi.
'It is because of me we conceded that goal. I miscontrolled the ball, and after that came a foul and the goal,' he explained.
'We put pressure on our own shoulders by conceding early. After that goal we started to take over and set the pace of the game and everything went fine. During the game I thought we had a way to win this match easily. Then we moved the ball around. We were patient and it paid off. With the three weeks of preparation we went through, we also finish the games strongly.'
Croatia goalkeeper Matej Delac, who has signed a pre-contract agreement to join us, was upset not to be in the Final but was pleased with his side's achievements in France.
'France are a good team; I'm disappointed but we gave it our best shot. I am satisfied with my performance even if you can always do better,' said the 17-year-old.
'It's not only down to me but it's thanks to the whole team," he added. 'If you'd told me that before the tournament, I'd have thought you were crazy. To reach the semi-finals is something else.'
France will meet Spain in the Final on Friday evening. You will be able to read a report on the Official Chelsea Website afterwards.

Gael should be back in training within 3 - 4 days. Daniel Sturridge returned (to training) today, and Jeffrey Bruma should be back in a couple of weeks.

He will be involved tomorrow in the game. Now he is first team, he will have the same opportunity as the other players and he deserves to play because he trained well, he is focused and concentrated,' explained the Italian. 'He will play and we now have to consider him not a young player but a player in the first team.
Carlo talking about Kakuta in the press conference today. Brilliant news.

Looked like he's gained more muscles since last season.

I've been reticent to drink the Kakuta kool-aid thus far, simply because I haven't seen enough of him. That said I liked the way he came deep to get the ball and ran at defenders on the weekend, it's a great tactic particularly at the finish when teams are tired and structure starts to break down. I was watching Krasic do that for Juventus against Sampdoria yesterday and it struck me how similar his style was.
At most clubs he'd already be playing first team. Problem for the lad is that here, Benayoun, Kalou and maybe Zhirkov are players who have a similar style and are ahead of him on the pecking order. Only way I can see him really getting a look in above those guys this season, is if a couple of injuries come along and he steps in and really nails it. Then I could see him being in the team more consistently. In the meantime hopefully he doesn't get discouraged and takes his oppurtunities when they come along.

I too was really impressed on Saturday. Its all good talking about flicks and tricks when you are 3-0 up, but like Spiller said, it was devestating stuff against an already tired defense. Also, he took absolutely no time at all to get involved, and was moving all over the field to create the attack and find space to recieve passes.
I was pretty damn impressed from him, and I hope we can count on some regular sub appearances in the near future. He certainly made a great case for himself.

I don't think Kakuta has a similar style to Kalou at all. Kakuta seems more shifty, more creative. Even though he hasn't scored I'm pretty sure he has a better scoring touch. Maybe if he slams a few sitters of the crossbar I'll change my mind about that one. I think Kakuta can be a great sub for this team when we are tied or losing in a mAtch. He is young, fast, energetic and creative. Should work wonders against a tired defense for 15-20 minutes at the end of a match.

I think we'd all like to have him in the team on a regular basis, and more so if as others have mentioned he is something a bit different to our other options. I can actually see the Anelka thing now you mention it geezer, it's a good spot on your behalf, if he became anything close to Nico he'll be a great asset.
The question remains who goes out for him to come in more permanantly. When everyone is fit I can't see who that is. I'd suggest on Wednesday he'll be on the bench because of Drogba's suspension, he might even get some minutes. But even if he does make the bench with so many players needing time, it's hard to think we'll see anything more than cameo's for this season at least.

I thought the best thing about his cameo on the weekend was the fact he showed he is more than just tricks, flicks and pace. The two passes he put through that created chances showed superb vision and ability, especially as he played both so quickly after receiving the ball.

This isn't a democracy. No one is owed playing time. If Kakuta is part of the best 18 or even the best 11 then he should see the pitch. At the expense of whomever isn't. Be it Kalou, Anelka, Yossi, even Lampard or Drogba. Whoever. Everyone has to earn their spot.
Obvioulsy if he isn't ready for prime time then he sees cameos and gets developmental time in low pressure spots. But if he is ready (and from what I've seen he may be) then he needs to play.

He's such a small bodied player. As much as I want to see him on the park, I'd hate to see him go out there and get seriously injured by a bigger body.
Everyone knows his a good player with great potential. I hope as fans we are patient with Chelsea in easing him into the first team.

Well, he's about 3 inches taller than Zola
Though i agree we shouldn't rush him, he should be integrated to the first team slowly and gradually. But isn't that what Carlo did with Pato?

Zola 5 ft 5
Messi 5 ft 7
Kakuta 5 ft 8
Don't think he's going to get injured by a "bigger" body when players like the two mentioned above shine against the big defenders. Should of watched him in the U19's Euro's he was very strong and packed with his usual pace + skill. Also for people who saw him on Saturday would of noticed he's bulked up completely way more than Messi. Chelsea staff have done a great job bulking up the players, last season and this season noticed big changes.
