Isn't he more Irish than Scottish?
I was thinking that, but I also didn't want to set the bar of expectation that high for young Josh. I think he'll get 5 appearances at most throughout this season (all as a sub from now on), and we shouldn't expect much more. The year after he may well get more, closer to 10 or so, and we can slowly build him up as he improves.

What really impresses me about McEachran is his incredible first touch for an English player. He wouldn't look out of place in the Spanish side.
His game reminds me a lot of Andres Iniesta.

Yeah I knew you knew...just wanted to mention Charlie Cooke.
Pat don't look too happy here though.

That's exactly what i thought, only had one player in mind after his performance against Newcastle and it was Iniesta.

Again the highlight of a poor performance.

He's ready to influence a game if he's needed (like if we get more injuries etc).
He may not be experienced enough to do it consistently..but I have no doubts we could play him often, and he'd play well more often than not.
One of the most gifted youngsters I've seen play.

Looked good again today, if Lampards out against Arsenal I'd start him.

^That's a bit too much pressure against the young guy don'tcha think? Although I'm not a big fan of the Ramires/Mikel/Essien midfield three. Lacks creativity, which of course McEachran would compliment nicely, but in practice, don't you think that's a lot of weight to throw on his tiny shoulders?

Normally I would argue against putting a young player like him into a game like that, but in this case you might be right. Josh plays the kind of football that needs space and time on the ball, and against Arsenal he will get that space and time.
I've never seen a young player look so confident

Disagree a little - I would say that Josh looks like the type of player that creates space and time on the ball. At least thats the early assemsent. It's a skill very few english players really have as its bullied out of them by the rush it football they are forced to play at such a young age.
His first touch is taken with his head up and a clear idea of what is around him buying him those extra seconds that make the difference between a good player and great player, its not the only thing but it's a massive bonus to his game. There for I would say he looks like the kind of player that will develop and unlock these tight defences we have to deal with all the time
Dont want to jump the gun with him as so much can happen so ealry in a career but it's promosing.

The kid looks god to me. David Speedie was Scottish and he was one of my favourites.
