Edgar Davids will play for Crystal Palace this season...

He was my favourite player some years ago !! :D

He's on a pay-as-you-play contract. Demonstrates their faith in his injury proneness

Sadly not.  It was a £20m deal but only £4m was paid in advance.  The rest of it was to be based on appearances.

The dippers would have you think so, but the majority is to be paid in instalments with very little of the fee being appearance based. This was Roma`s official statement on the transfer http://www.asroma.it/UserFiles/988.pdf this is the instalments bit translated

Quote

Such consideration will be paid by Liverpool Football Club AS Rome in four installments, the first of which, of € 5 million, together with the signing of the transfer contract, the second of € 3 million by January 4, 2010, the third of € 7 million by June 30, 2010 , and the fourth of € 5 million by June 30, 2011.
In addition, the Liverpool Football Club to recognize AS Rome the following additional amounts:
 € 0.3 million for each time that its share Uefa Champions League first team during the sports seasons from 2010/2011 to 2014/2015 up to a maximum of € 1.5 million;
 € 0.25 million, to 35 ^, 70 ^, 105 ^ 140 ^ and the presence of players in official competitions;
 € 1 million, the first time that Liverpool Football Club win the English Premier League Champions League ol'UEFA by June 30, 2014.
 5% of the consideration received by Liverpool Football Club in case of transfer of entitlement to benefits of sports for players in other clubs.

i heard a whisper earlier today that Fulham and Arsenal had agreed terms for Mark Schwarzer but that he's failed the medical. i haven't seen or heard anything since, so there's no way yet of knowing whether or not this is just gossip.

Decent signing for them and will probably go straight into the first team

Wenger finally started signing defenders, and over 25 for a change. Decent player for them, nothing to be alarmed about through.

Thank god you cleared that up, dkw, I was getting worried. A 15 million pound writeoff , even without all those bonuses added, has got to hurt their books badly right now.

Sadly, I think that will be a good signing for the gooners. Just because it breaks their mold

Not sure if anyone here cares but Milan look like they might nab Ibrahimovic on loan soon.

http://www.football-...net/aug24c.html

If they pull this off i will seriously be rolling all over the floor laughing my ass off.Remember this is the club that has been slashing players wages and asking other clubs to purchase players for them to loan,the management over there has been talking about cutting back on spending for the last 3 - 4 years and now they're going for a guy with one of the biggest paychecks in the world.I'm a Milan fan too and i'd like to see Ibra @ Milan but Galliani might have to do some very creative accounting  :laugh2:

If this goes ahead they will have a pretty serious squad on their hands Ibra Pato Ronaldinho Seedorf Pirlo might be a challenge for the CL this season.

This is so going to look bad on Barcelona, spending all that money on Ibrahimovic and now shipping him out when he had a decent season. Marco Borrellio is apparently going to go to Barca in return on a season long loan which is silly because he's hardly going to get a game.

Saying that though i'd love Milan to win Serie A again but i wouldnt mind them failing and flogging Pato off to us ;)

I dont rate Ibrahimovic but in 41 appearances in all competitions he scored 21 goals and got 10 assists for a new club in a new country, AC Milan are getting a great deal here.

I dont really get this Zlatan deal either. From Milan's side or from Barca's. He may make alot of money but unless Barca have another transfer in mind he is a big forward and as far as I recall the only one they have. And that would leave them with Villla as an out and out striker backed up by Bojan and Pedro. It kinda seems like a shortsighted move to me.

Seem's like it will happen now, not as a loan deal but on a permanent deal?

Zlatan was interviewed yesterday and told the media that Guardiola only has spoken to him twice in 6 months, way to go Pep. The owners don't want to sell him but going on Zlatans own words it seems like Guardiola don't want him anymore.

I reckon it would be a mistake to go to Milan though, he wants the CL and I can't see Milan getting that one in awhile. Real Madrid and a reunion with Mourinho would have done him good.

If Pep bought Zlatan for a tik-tak gamestyle then he failed big time, the idea was to give him the same roll like Eto'o had but it seems like he is not wanting that, weird situation indeed.

Would be a great deal for Milan seeing as Zlatan has already proved himself in Italy. It would definitely make them more competitve, although their squad needs a lot more investment in other areas if they are going to win Serie A.

I always thought the Ibra for Etoo + cash deal was a terrible deal for Barcelona.
