The record books will remember that fondly...
I am already, ahh them were the days. All that used to be fields dont you know.

All i will say is Greece, they won a comp too playing a stifling kind of football.

I was rooting for Germany, but I did not see any penalties that they should have gotten.  A free kick just outside the box?  Yes, but no penalities.  The best team won today, and that was Spain.

My prediction for the final is that we will see Howard Webb as the referee.  I think he deserves it.

Anyone need any prognostications?  I am available for a fee!

They took a long time to break down a well organised and dangerous counter-attacking side in Germany.

They didn't break anything down in reality. Germany missed a marker on a set piece. That could have happened to any team at any time. Germany mark Puyol, I believe that game is still 0-0 because Germany wouldn't have played as open as they did the last 15 minutes.

Yeah, Puyol missed a header early in the first half as well. I've seen many of those misses. I think Germany's defense played a great game really. They didn't allow many through balls and the ones that got through (minus Villa's open chance in the 6th minute or so that Neuer saved), were subdued pretty quickly.

Germany lost because they made a mistake on a set piece. Who knows what would have happened if that header doesn't go in. It did, and Spain moves on. They deserved it.

Just saw this video, not sure if it made the rounds yet:

Love the caption as well: "Spain just moved up to #1 on Germany's "Top 20 Countries To Invade Once We Become A Superpower Again" list."

The 1-0 score does not reflect Spain's dominance. They pressured Germany relentlessly from start to finish and had a 13-5 advantage in shots on goal. So don't be fooled by the score!

Of them 13 shots how many were engineered chances and how many were lashes from distance? They dominated possession but hardly created any decent chances, certainly nowhere near enough for the amount of ball they had.

I've been reading what you've said and I realise now that I was wrong.

I don't know how I could have not realised that what I thought was boring was actually exciting.  I must have momentarily taken leave of my senses.  Thank you so much for putting me right.

Exactly, I agree.

So what if they had more shots? I didn't see Spain have a lot of real chances. I'm not saying that Spain wasn't the better team last night, but I didn't see a one-sided dominance either.

Having more possession and more shots doesn't equal dominance. Argentina had more possession, overall shots, and shots on goal in their game against Germany. They didn't win.

I'm amazed you've changed your instinctual dislike of Spain. Perhaps you were offended by Sergio Ramos girly hair style, or their pretty boy David Villa or that you regarded the team as a global menace. In addition to all those iirredeemable qualities just look at what they did to Germany. Perhaps that was because Ballack and Mueller didn't show up!
