That without the burden of Lampard SteveG will break free and transform the dull dregs of England into a glowing, fluent goal machine and without JT single handed Mr G will prevent ball from ever reaching the England half. Oh the expectation.....

It worked so well last time too, when Stevie me got his way and played centrally with his bestest buddy Barry alongside him. I think we won both games comfortably with Steeeevviiieeee scoring a bagful of goals against Russia and Croatia to triumphantly take us to the Euro`s......Oh hang on, we lost both games and the midfield was a shambles. Strange how that seems to have been completely written out of Steeeeeevvviiieeee`s history.

The Stevie Gee who did absolutely f**k all in attack, or the Wayne Rooney who spent the entire first half wandering around losing possession?

Ashley Cole was my man of the match, although I'm sure everyone else will see differently. He was a rampaging machine down the left side. I thought the scoreline was more due to Bulgaria being appalling rather than England showing anything special. I was interested to see Rooney playing in the false nine position he has at Man Utd, however.
