Stoke at SB last season!
Walked out sulking about 85 mins in with Stoke 0 - 1 up and heard the crowd roar, whilst walking to West Brompton, as Belletti and Lampard scored.
A lesson learned!

I must correct myself...it was the season before last, Jan 2009...I distinctly remember uttering anti Scolari obscenities as I left the ground.

yes west ham were always in the shed, they came off worse in 79 and got chased out of it in 1980. I remember going to upton park in the early to mid seventies and there would be no chelsea there very scary place to go
Totally agree! Every home match before we were due at Upton Park, the entire Shed would be singing "If you're all going to West Ham clap your hands", and everyone clapped. Come the day of the match and there was no f*cker to be seen, used to make me mad.

What was Tottenham's home end in those days, or did they used to change every now and then. I didn't go there until about '78 and by then the away end was the Park Lane?

Same for MIllwall away in '76, for weeks everyone was singing about going there and battering (West Ham for some strange reason). Still, those of us that did go had something to brag about.

park lane until 1972 then the shelf with a mob in the paxton as well until 75 when it was the paxton where they all went

that was to the tune of in zaire, basically made no show at Arsenal till 1976 the league cup game, at west ham until early 80s non existent and at spurs never in the 70s had a pop at either the shelf or park lane

I think they changed their home end to the Paxton after a visiting goalkeeper got a dart stuck in his head and consequently part of the Park Lane was blocked off behind the goal.
I've a theory though that they changed their home ends around because they got taken by so many different mobs, they were hoping away crews wouldn't know which end to go in. However, my theory collapses when I remember that you could walk right round the ground at WHL, so if we went in the Park Lane and they were in the Paxton we'd still have a ruck, it just meant more of a walk

I remember chatting with Lofty about Millwall away in 1976. We both had similar stories, went in the CBL with a small but handy mob of Chelsea and stayed as long as possible up in the corner. Our mob dwindled in size as the game went on, due to injury/arrest/retreat, and when I got outside the ground I didn't see a single face I recognised - jumped onto the first bus that came along and got the f*ck out of there! Don't think I've ever been that scared before or since at a football match, but I'm glad I went - as you say PB, it gives us something to brag about
Arsenal away in the League Cup, first time I set foot in the North Bank. We took about a third of it, staying in there for the entire game and joining up with the rest of the Chelsea outside afterwards to give the gooners a spanking.
I was always embarrassed at our no-show at West Ham year-in year-out, so it was great to go there in numbers in the 80's - I think 1984 was the best, but can't be sure. We had a few pops at Spuds during the 70's, but nothing serious, most of the rucking was done outside the ground.

no-one went to west ham in those days i went there with mates of spurs and arsenal and it was the same. The worst is when we got thrashed 3-0 and billy bonds scored a hattrick we stood on the north bank with our mouths shut

Thanks for that Bluebeard. Those videos made for some great viewing, although now my university library is wondering why I laughed out loud at Ossie giving the scum the v-sign.
