I can't for the life of me understand why Davies is there. Andy Carroll is a similar player, has more presence and is younger.
Also, Rob Green over Scott Carson? If they're picking on form surely it should be Carson.

Is there anything Wright-Phillips can do to not be in the England team?

How the f**k are SWP, Joe cole and Kevin Davies in that squad? Ok, Davies I can sort of understand as he gives us options, but Joe Cole? He didnt get in the last one yet gets in this one even though he`s been absolute garbage. Ridiculous.

SWP, Joe Cole and Garath Barry should be nowhere near the squad.
I dont have any problem with Davies as he'll cause more problems than any of our other strikers have since and during the world cup.

The fact that Capello tried and failed to get Heskey out of retirement says all you need to know about his selection policy. The man is a moron who doesn't care about England's future one bit.

Interesting squad. Have always been a fan of Kevin Davies doubt he'll get a run, but JT reckons he's the hardest striker to defend against in the Premier League that's got to say something.
Outside of that it's good to see England finally have some decent defensive cover with Jagielka kept in the squad. I'm still of the opinion that Gareth Barry is the most overrated player going around in the PL and how he gets in and Scott Parker who has been barely keeping the Pikeys above water by himself isn't in the squad is bewildering.
SWP is only in there because Milner is suspended so I wouldn't worry much about that.

Guys, I see your questioning the Davies selection. Let me clear that up for you. See Capello has devised a system that has a garauntee of success.
He looked at my fantasy pool
Probably the same reason why Berba almost has as many goals so far this season as he had all of last season!

Biggest concern with playing Davies is his yellow card count. He is the most booked player in Premiership history (at least I think he is) and certainly tops the yellow card count practically every season. That is with the more lenient approach of Premiership refs. International refs are far more fussy.

should England be captained by a player whose domestic team is in the bottom 3?

That's what I wanted to see after the debacle of the World Cup, building a team for the future, well done Capello! Davies will only be 37 come the next world cup. What a witless to**er!

Not that Kevin Davies is international class, but everyone calling Capello an idiot for picking him: who, exactly, would you like him to have picked instead as fourth striker? There aren't exactly many healthy alternatives . . .

I watched the Bolton and United match, Davies was just about unplayable to the United's defence that day. I believe Vidic played that day and Davies made him look very ordinary. Not a bad choice as a target man, can't be much worse than Heskey. Joe Cole? I don't remember he has done anything special lately to deserve a spot, maybe it's a matter of injury crisis.

Rather than Davies if alternatives were hard to find, Capello should have hoiked out one of the U21s or failing that an U18

Agreed.
Anyways Capello wont be England manager after the EC... might be the reason why he isnt interested in giving young players a chance

i'm selling my ticket. i can't watch england with the filth that's gone on with chelsea players. jt's ribs are f*cked and he's still made himself available. despite getting booed for allegedly sleeping with his mates ex. f**k them, i wish all our lot would retire.
