Oh and Andy Townsend watches a different game to everyone else, Young didnt dive apparently he was getting out of the way of a challenge. Go figure.

I couldn't believe Townsend's comments on Young's dive, he truly is a prize prick. I mean, it's not as though Young's never dived before, I've seen him get booked for it at least three times, four with last nights pathetic effort - I used to rate him before I realised he was such a cheating c*nt, but now he's in the same bracket as Ronaldo & Deco.

For me, Adam Johnson was the only player to come out of the game with any credit whatsoever, and even he wasn't that good - a truly awful display from England yet again. I was glad to see Kevin Davies get his chance, albeit about 10 years too late, and he did quite well in the time he had. A good header for Rooney, who f*cked the chance up in typical fashion, and a good old-fashioned elbow in an opponents throat, you've got to love the guy!

Montenegro played quite well, their passing was better than England's, their first touch was better, and their one touch passing was excellent. And that shot which hit the bar towards the end was so unlucky, would have been a cracking goal.

I had to laugh when England weren't given the penalty for handball late on - the defender looked like he was trying catch the ball, yet somehow both the ref and linesman missed it, German b*stards (no offence, GB ;) )

it is amazing that neither capello or the players appeared to have learned nothing from their dismal 0-0 draw with algeria at the world cup

England were shocking last night - it really was very poor. But ES think you need to put your anti Gerrard bias to one side (I know it's hard with you being such a huge fan of our Frank!!).

After Adam Johnson, I would say Gerrard was the only other England player who looked any good. Not saying he was brilliant, but he did make things happen and I would say a 7 is pretty fair (with Johnson getting a 7.5).

Oh come on Nibs!  Firstly, the only player who impressed at all last night was Adam Johnson and even he didn't have a great game.  If 5 represents average then no-one deserved anything above a 6 at most.   Gerrard spent the match sitting on Ferdinand's feet trying to spray 50 yard Hollywood passes which invariably went straight to the opposition.  He provided none of the drive or leadership that he did in the last couple of matches.  I thought that the "new England" unburdened by Lampard and with Gerrard in his rightful place was supposed to have a coherence, drive, pace and cutting edge that we had previously lacked.  Instead, it turned out that we were just as crap as before when faced with a team that were organised and determined but still limited.

Capello didn't have a lot of options, but what he did have he made the very least of.  Why not play Wilshire (who may or may not be the second coming that many are forecasting - Jordan Henderson outshone him considerably against Romania the other night) to try and give a bit of guile and creativity?  Or try swapping Young and Johnson for more than just to let Young change his boots?

The match was very disappointing but utterly predictable.

This article in the Telegraph sums up Gerrard for me.

Gerrard got an 8 in the Mirror with this quote "Sprayed intelligent balls from deep. Good nivention for the free kick that saw Crouch head over and always looking for the break". Did they even watch the game? His first 2 passes were superb, but none of the rest of his hollywoodsers were "intelligent" at all. Honestly, does my head in how impressed some people are by long passes that accomplish zero over intricate precise football that leads to something.

The pleasure and total glee combined with eagerness haste of people to jump on Gerrards back after a so-so showing for England game never ceases to amuse me.

Its the same people who are so vocal and precious about people having a pop at 'Our Frank' (see what i did there Loz?) when he doesnt play very well for England (which is most of the time he puts the white shirt on).

Gerrard is one of our best players. I expect no less than a banning for saying that but i will and i have. Yes, he has got a favorable press at times when he perhaps should have been criticised a bit more, but the idea of him not playing a key role in best Englands XI is absurd.

The whole Gerrard/Liverpool thing crossed a line into nonsense territory sometime ago, its almost a infatuation with some.

I dont get it, perhaps its just a another way of channeling the 'we are Chelsea supporters and we are treated so badly, its not fair, woe is us' syndrome which seems so prevalent these days.

Im gonna get murdered for this i know, but, guys, take a break from it. Go for a run!

On the other hand there seems some people who go completely the other way and wont allow any disparaging comments aimed at Gerrard, seemingly wanting to be the voice of reason. I dont like Gerrard and the way he seems able to avoid criticism, and it does bug me the way he gets away with a lot worse games than Lampard ever does. But that doesnt mean im unable to see him play well, and if he does then I will praise him (see the comment by me on his first 2 superb passes). But he is a liability for England and has been found out time and time again even when given his favoured position and bodyguard.

not going to murder you BJD, but I think Chelsea fans are quite right to question whether there will be a sense of fairness after having to put up with years of criticism of our players when things go wrong...lamps has bizarrely always copped it...sure he has underperformed at times but so has gerrard and last night was another example...two hollywood passes in the first half was about it...lamps has always been blamed for gerrarrd playing poorly too...think we are justified to raise the issue with lamps not there last night to take the flak.

gerrard is good but has never been that good

From this week's Daily Mash:

MONTENEGRO NOT EVEN A REAL COUNTRY, CLAIMS FA Posted Image 13-10-10 ENGLAND'S  football chiefs have declared last night's 0-0 draw null and void after  failing to find Montenegro in their 1959 Atlas Of The World.

Posted Image

The  makers of Gefürtstänner Export will be understandably furious

They  have called on UEFA to investigate where last night's team actually  came from, amidst fears of a repeat of last year's calamitous tour of  SuperMarioLand.

An FA spokesman said: "This is all a ruse by a  collection of Eastern European countries to make us look like a bunch of  tits.

"'Montenegro' doesn't sound remotely like a real country.  It sounds like a Dick Emery character they'd never get away with on  television any more."

Suspicions were first raised when team  manager Zlato Kranjcar was unable to confirm the correct term for  somebody from Montenegro, alternating between 'Montenegrecians' and  'Monte-'N'-words'.

The flag given to Wembley staff appeared to be  the crest from a bottle of German beer and the CD of the national  anthem, entitled 'Oj Svijetla Majska Zoro', later turned out to be a  Polish copy of the soundtrack to the 1998 film The Mask Of Zorro.

Fabio  Capello also feels that England struggled to overpower their opposition  as the players were unaware of what racial slurs to mutter at them  during corners and free kicks.

He added: "We we unprepared and  did not know whether to insult their food, their weather or their  implied institutional homosexuality. It will be much easier in our next  game against the sheep-raping dwarves."
