Now there is a surprise, corruptness going on.

Quote

Two Fifa officials are alleged to have offered to sell their votes in the contest to host the 2018 World Cup, according to a Sunday Times report.

The newspaper claims Nigerian Amos Adamu, a Fifa executive committee member, asked for £500,000 for a "personal project", against Fifa rules.

And Oceania Football Confederation president Reynald Temarii, wanted money for a sports academy for his vote.

Fifa will decide the hosts of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups on 2 December.

More to follow.

Come on, there's no way Platini would allow corruption in the UCL  :liar:

Not a shock, but the signs coming out in the press are that England's 2018 bid is dead in the water, and that it is "between Spain/Port and Russia now".

I am no great admirer of the British press, and what they did with Lord Triesman was nothing short of despicable, but if the corruption charges against the Tahitian and Nigerian are really and truly what ended England's bid, then there is really no hope for this game. Not until this organization is dismantled or has its people completely flushed clean.

And on a sidenote I really really hope Australia gets 2022.

not a lot ?????

Fifa executive committee members Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii have been banned from voting in the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosting ballot.

Adamu was banned from football activity for three years and Temarii for one year over claims they asked for money in exchange for World Cup votes.

The 2018 Qatar and 2022 Spain-Portugal bids were also cleared of collusion.

The ballot will proceed on 2 December with 22 voters - instead of 24 - and nine candidates across the two votes.

Adamu was fined 10,000 Swiss francs and Temarii 5,000, while four other Fifa officials, all of whom are former executive committee members, were also suspended.

Ismael Bhamjee of Botswana was handed a four-year ban, Amadou Diakite of Mali and Ahongalu Fusimalohi of Tonga three-year punishments and Tunisia's Slim Aloulou a two-year suspension.

All four were fined 10,000 Swiss francs.

Well, now Panorma have revealed three more names, one of them the CONEMBOL man in charge of Brazil 2014, and allegations of 64 million quid in bribes paid to top FIFA officials, in 175 payments, made through front companies in Liechtenstein. My word, the thing is so cloak and dagger I half expect Jason Bourne to break into the live broadcast of the bid announcement for a final showdown with Blatter.

Also, Soccernet is now reporting that Jack Warner, probably the biggest villain to the British media, is now the key vote for England. Dont make me f**king laugh!  :laugh2:

It has really gotten to the point now where they dont care. And I doubt anyone but the two they have already sanctioned will be made scapegoats.

No wonder these men dont want reform in the game. I had no idea the money they were making off these bribes was that much.

the fact everyone knew fifa was bent before these stories came out says it all...it's inevitable when you've got such old farts in dark rooms making such decisions...the fact england haven't hosted the tournament since 66 is a joke in itself...it's all about politics and money, not who is the best...after the inevitable confirmation that we have failed to win 2018 later this week, I suggest we save our money and don't bother in future...we're beaten before we even start

The International Olympic Committee is to investigate BBC claims of corruption against Fifa Vice-President Issa Hayatou, also an IOC member.

All of these organisations are a joke period. Honestly the only reason I'll care if Australia doesn't get to host 2022, is that we've spent so much bloody money that could have been better served elsewhere on the bid.

If Russia and Qatar etc. are simply willing to pay more to have it, then good luck to them.

The two best bids in terms of infrastructure and length of time since they last hosted the WC (if ever) is England in 2018 and Oz in 2022. I can't believe that the US is  a front runner consdiering they only hosted it in 94, same with Spain/Portugal. Qatar and Russia are forught with practical issues - the heat and/or transport. But as previously said these issues aren't a priority when your handed a brown envelope stuffed with cash..

If it is to go to the best all round bid and most prepared country then England will win it. If it goes to whichever country sucks up to those leeches at FIFA and whoever pays the most then god only knows.

England's 2018 World Cup bid received a huge boost with the news that Vladimir Putin, prime minister of Russia, confirmed he would not be travelling to Zurich for the World Cup vote.

Russia are one of England's main rivals and Putin appeared to criticise the FIFA process by saying his country had faced "unscrupulous competition".

Putin's remarks cast a major doubt against Russia's hopes and now Spain/Portugal look to be England's main rivals to win tomorrow's vote by FIFA's executive committee.

The bidding process has been overshadowed by allegations of collusion between Spain/Portugal and 2022 bidders Qatar, and the Sunday Times investigation into FIFA members that led to six officials being banned.

Reports coming out of Russia quoted Putin as saying: "I would have liked to have gone myself but in these conditions I have decided not to travel... so that they can make a decision without any pressure from the outside."

Putin said deputy prime minister Igor Shuvalov would attend Thursday's vote and that Russia had faced "unscrupulous competition".
