Reports on Sky Sports News suggest that Barnsley have signed Jacob Mellis on loan from Chelsea.
The young midfielder has signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, keeping him at the club until 2013 and joins Mark Robins' Barnsley on loan to gain some first team experience.
The 20 year old has made one appearance for Chelsea, coming on as a substitute in the 89th minute in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Zilina in the UEFA Champions League in November this season.

Good luck to the lad and all of the guys going out on loan. This might be the first crop to go out and come back to be genuine first teamers.
