Spackman was a decent player for us but not what you`d call a legendary figure. Since he "come out" as having a preference for Liverpool (sounds seedy dont it) he has no right to have a place named after him at Stamford Bridge Mind you i put him above Frank Sinclair, master of the OG and calamitous defending, who i believe had something named after him too! TBH i think when the ground was transforming in the mid 90s Bates was looking for some modern era players to include, and those two got pulled out of the hat.

I have to agree that it's always bugged me, seeing his name up there like that. As you say, decent player for us but no more than that. And his backing for Liverpool over us in the CL semi a few years ago should have seen the entrance renamed.

Alan Hudson is another. He may have been a legend as a player but he's always slating us and has backed the other team in just about every cup final we've been in since 94 (he was supporting United that day).

Bit of a storm in a tea cup for me, were his comments broadcast live? did he slag chelsea off or just offer an opinion on which team he thought might win? I have not seen any coverage of his comments, just heard a lot of rumour. For me he was a key player in John Neales quiet revoloution that gave us hope after so much despair. A lot of players say something silly with a mic thrust under their nose. He wore the blue shirt, that's good enough for me.

You dont get nothing for just wearing a blue shirt, Surely to get something named after you at the ground you should have to significantly contributed to the club or had a special raport with the fans. I`d name the toilets after someone like winston Bogarde.

Same with cult fan favorite Joey Jones, Liverpool through and through but I don't think we named anything after him.

spackman was a great player for us and a great guy too. he put his heart and soul into every apperance he made in two spells for chelsea. i have seen him be pro-chelsea on many occasions. i have seen him fight out corner on sky many times when the likes of thompson, nicholas and the like are having a right pop.
so what if he has said he prefers liverpool ? (not that ive heard this) , its hardly treachery. good lord some people are so precious these days, sometimes the liverpool nonsense just to goes too far.
that petition is a disgrace, havent people got better things to do ?

Greats a bit strong for spackman im afraid, certainly good though. If hes on as a pundit alongside Thompson, he`ll be there to put the chelsea side of things. Theres nothing precious about it, ignoring his Liverpool bias, he dont cut the mustard as a true chelsea great imo. Although there was a certain match where he decked monkey boy Keown so maybe im a little harsh!

Outrageous behaviour from a professional player.
Anyone who smacks an arsenal player is top notch in my books.
