30 minutes gone. Villa having most of the possession and much the better of the chances. Jan Sebek with a great save to keep the scores level.

Cheers Hutch, cant really get a decent stream from them links so its a bit annoying to watch. Saw the save though, did well to get a hand as he came out.

Five minutes before half time Villa go 1-0 up, good finish from Carruthers.

Villa have continued to dominate possession, but we've had a couple of chances of our own, a long range shot from Gokhan Tore well that drew a good save and a tight angle shot from Fabio Borini that hit the post.  Tomas Kalas making his debut looks a little nervous.

So I presume the discussion with his old club about Kalas staying here went well then, havent heard anything about it.

Something was said about it earlier. That he was on loan but it didn't work out, so is here for the foreseeable future. Something like that, I didn't quite catch it.

Last thing I heard was he was supposed to stay at his ex club all season but came over during their winter break to train with us. The coaches were so impressed they wanted him to stay on as they though it would be more beneficial to him.

I hadn't heard that but it sounds about right. Sam Hutchinson was saying how much Kalas had impressed in training.

That looks quite a strong line up.

How's Tore looking. In the early stages of the Youth Cup last seaon, he looked a good bet to step up, but he really seems to have lost his way a bit?

With Chelsea mostly on the back foot, we haven't seen much of him tonight, or of Chelsea as an attacking force, come to that.

I don't know a thing about the VIlla team, but they are apparently a stronger more experienced side. Didn't they beat Arsenal reserves 10-0 just a few weeks back?

Six minutes gone of the second half, Michael Woods hits the post from close range.

They beat them 10-1 I think.

Nah, they're not that good. It was 10-1 ;) Though half of that Villa team was sent out on loan.

Chelsea looking much more dangerous this half, Deen-Conteh coming on seems to have made a difference (not sure who went off).

Chalobah pops up to equalise from close range from a Gokham Tore corner .. couple of minutes later, Tore with a lovely run great shot draws a fingertip save from teh keeper.

And now he's been sent off. Looked like handbags, bit of a scuffle and he was off. Chelsea still pressing even though we're down to 10 men.

Just before being sent off he made a great mazy run and a good shot at the end of it.

They've just showed a replay of the "challenge" on Borini. Should have been a red but the ref wasn't having any of it.

Looked a nasty collision (accidental) just now leading to a few minutes stoppage. Jan Sebek taking the ball in the face, then a knee in the back of his head looked like he was unconscious. Sam Walker was warming up ready to come on, but thankfully Sebek is ok and remarkably is fit to carry on. Still 1-1.

85 minutes gone. Villa retake the lead with a counter attack after an almost unbroken spell of Chelsea pressure.

Adam Philip on for Michael Woods.
