This will be unpopular but I've got to say as a player, I always liked him. We'd have loved him if he had played here. Similar to Dennis Wise in my view. With his fair share of issues, but gave his all on the pitch.
Off the pitch he generally calls a spade a spade which I respect. but he is wide of the mark on this one in my view. I can only remember a few incidents of bickering in recent years, the Drogba-Ballack spat over the free kick against United when Avram was manager and Didier whining about not taking the penalty against Wigan when he wanted to be top scorer. Both during periods in which we were absolutely flying. So unless there is more to it than we're seeing he's wrong.
Of course we don't see it off the pitch and I have heard we have a reputation for cliques in the past among the French and Portuguese speakers for example. But given AVB has a policy of no language other than English at the club now, perhaps that will subside a bit.

To rub salt in the wound for Arsenal fans it looks like Oxlaide Chamberlain is a Chelsea fan or admirer at least anyway.

The BBC (so you know there is creedence) is backing the twitteratti and other Spanish sources saying Fabregas will go to Barca for 35 million in the next 48 hours. He is giving up 900k a year to put more money into the deal for Barca.
I guess this was inevitable, but given their lack of success the last six years, I was perfectly happ to let Arsenal keep him. On the other hand, Barca have won and gotten a player they have been unsettling for 2 years. Hopefully we arent treated to the same dog and pony show when/if Romeu becomes a phenomenal player.
For apparrently "piling the pressure on them" Wenger and Arsenal have been robbed. 35 million for one of the best midfielders in the world (shocking to think thats what Spurs want for Modric). Now, surely, Nasri must be off too.

Barca close in on Cesc - reports
Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas appears on the verge of a move to Barcelona, with Spanish media claiming a £35 million deal is imminent.
Barcelona, who failed to capture the midfielder last summer, look to be close to finally securing Fabregas, who has made no secret of his desire to return to his boyhood club.
The Spain international is said to have agreed to a wage cut in order to push the move through as one of the longest-running transfer sagas looks set to come to an end, with reports suggesting he could be a Barcelona player by the end of the week.
While the transfer window does not close until the end of the month, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has piled the pressure on the Catalan club by naming his captain in the squad to face Udinese in the Gunners' Champions League qualifier next week.

Should be about £60m in the bank for Arsenal though to finally sure up their defence.
So except more Walcotts.

Actually, I am hoping Wenger takes this one to heart, does his annual summer "this squad is good enough to win as is" sulk, and then sells Nasri right before the window closes. But 60 million is alot to ignore. If they actually add Cahill, Dann, Jagielka, or whoever else, they might actually win something this year.
The more I think about it, the more I realize how Arsenal are getting screwed. Fabrgas alone should be worth almost 60. If Real Madrid were his boyhood club, the negociations wouldve started at 60.

Fabregas is the best midfielder in the world for me alongside Xavi and Iniesta, when fit. His constant hamstring problems however mean that £35-40 million is a fair price for him.
When we sold Robben to Real, its not as if we didn't know he was one of the best wingers around, but the price was just £24 million.

That's a shame for them, but it's the Everton fans I feel for that would have no doubt have booked train tickets etc which would cost a fortune which at this stage would be non-refundable.
Everton at home was the Spuds only winnable game for a while. This cancellation puts a different complexion on their season now in my view. Now they play:
Hearts (A) - Midweek
United (A) - Guaranteed loss for them
Hearts (H) - Midweek
City (H) - Tough game, would be a big ask to beat them
It's going to be a big ask to play a fully rested City and United after European excursions, then obviously after that you have the distraction of Internationals where the players go separate ways then bang Wolves away and then Liverpool at home, shortly followed by the NLD with Arsenal.
I said from the get go, I'm willing to bet Spurs don't make top 6 this season with or without Modric

Spanish press are reporting Cesc has left Arsenal. £34m deal rising to £40m and he'll wear the number 4 shirt.
A shame the PL has to lose another great player. With Nasri and Fabregas gone, if Arsenal don't make CL or win something this year, it's going to be a big ask for them to keep hold of RVP next year, If he can play anything close to 30 games in all comps this year clubs around Europe (hopefully us as well) will be queuing up to buy him.
Arsenal press conference at 9am tomorrow so we should know by then.

Hahahaha Wenger says his side doesn't need another center back! Oh this is too good. This is better than a comedy stand up. So I wonder what he is going to spend those 60 million pounds from Fabregas and Nasri on? More wingers?

Wenger has lost it completely now.
I'm slowly starting to agree with those that claim they will not make top 4.
A shame Wenger has to go out this way.

Samuel Eto'o is just about set to join our own Yuri at Anzhi in Russia.
So many things about that are just astounding (Russia's troubled past with black players, his 18m pound/year salary, their addition of another world class talent) but Inter are getting 40 million euros for him
That means selling Zlatan Ibrahimovic alone has netted them 86 million euros (46 originally + Eto'o who is getting them another 40), 15 of which they paid for Sniejder (who they may now sell for another 40) to say nothing of a CL win and the first ever Italian treble, and an avalanche of silverware. Hats off to Moratti and his sporting director.
You're about a day behind mate! And agreed with the sentiments about RVP (though I wouldnt go anywhere near him). What kind of message does this send? Sell your two best midfielders for 60 million, and buy Gervinho and a kid from League 1. Yes, that will solve alllllll your problems.
Prices for ticketholders at the Emirates are even higher than Chelsea and Spurs, too. Where the hell is the money of these fans going? Its little wonder they seem on the verge of revolt after every season. Wenger must be tired of it now, too. He is a great manager and every year more peopel are saying he is delusional and past it.
Also, that "Number 4" shirt thing pisses me off. The Barca players have been singing that in the press now for two years, like Cesc to Barca is some childrens fairy tale story. Its astounding how UEFA never called them to task over their shameless pursuit of him even once.

I think Arsenal and Wenger in general are actually robbers, it is as close to a criminal offence as you can possibly get.
The players were strongly linked away from the club in May and June so what do they do? Get Wenger to reassure the fans and come up with countless statements saying they are going nowhere, then when their delusional fans believe him they renew the ST's and memberships, snap up the tickets for the first few games and lead their fans in to believing they will win the league and challenge on all fronts and then go on and sell the best players. They did the exact same thing with Henry not so long ago.
It's genius but from an outsiders point of view just cruel.

You know, when you put it like that it is quite cruel. And seems very calculated. I mostly saw it from the view of them having tried, and utterly failed, to wait out Barca and force them to up their bid. But if any fans believed Wenger, and paid their exhorbitant prices, then good luck to em.
The Nasri situation is especially unforgiveable. If they cap wages so severely, they will end up flogging every decent player who they ever turn into a star. Eventually its gonna make fewer players want to sign for them, knowing theyll have to force a move to get paid the big bucks. By the sound if it, if they had offered Nasri 90 a week (a little hefty but not unheard of) long ago, he wouldve signed and stayed.
Btw, when i read you calling them robbers, I assumed it was gonna be a rant about how they stole Fabregas from Barca in 2003 (as well as Merida later on, and countless other youngsters). An equally compelling argument can be made that they are making out like bandits after having taken a youth product and using his talent for seven years.
