Great for Capello for not giving an inch!  If the FA were so worried about their image with JT at the helm, they would have dropped him altogether!  But being the Spineless Twits they are they thought they could evade this all with their ridiculous decisions.  Now they need to find someone who is willing to step into that giant wet smelly pile of dog shyte they call the English National Team.

Ooh, perhaps JT had this planned all along to upset Spurs because now we know dear old 'Arry will not be able to turn down his dream job!  Maybe this is our way into the third spot after Spurs shyte the bed w/o their leader... Of course I am letting the minute "conspiracy theory" portion of my mind get the better of me but honestly I would not be surprised to see some newspaper suggest this off the wall JOKE!
This is it for me, armband or no armband. Terry will still play like what he is. A leader.

Also, this might mean whoever comes in no longer picks JT for the squad. Would be small minded, but I could see it.

Certainly, the press are going to vilify Capello and try to pin this one on JT. I can see another six months of terrible headlines.

Call me paranoid but I think that the main reason this sudden urge to get Capello out was because they want JT out of the squad altogether. And the easiest way to do that is by getting rid of a manager who likes him. Whoever is next will get the job on the proviso that JT is not picked - ever.

That fat plank Steve Curry, was doing the SSN paper review this morning, there is an article in the Guardian pointing the finger at JT, and Curry said "I blame John Terry for this" So don't expect our Captain to be getting an easy ride any day soon....

The Papers are torn between anger at Capello for standing up for one of his players, and delight that he is gone, now they (the media, not the fa) can appoint Redknapp and Ingerlund will march on to glory...

Its pathetic and whats worse on Sky last night, (the channel which has been reminding us on a daily basis how serious the charges  against Terry are) they had Barry Fry ranting on about getting someone English in because "we don't want these Foreigners" seriously if you heard it out of context, you'd think you were listening to part of a BNP rally....Shameful stuff and Sky keep showing it, as they seem to think its funny.

That was the first thing that crossed my mind when I heard the news.
The FA will only appoint a "yes-man" now. I'm not sure someone like Redknapp will do the FA's bidding.

I hope the new manager is told not to pick JT..
f**k the national team, no internationals gives him at least a season more playing for us.
He will be rested regularly, and wont have to suffer the media bashing every time an England game is coming up, which however strong you are must now be beginning to take it's toll.
The International team don't deserve JT's staunch loyalty, so i for one won't complain if the decision is taken out of his hands.

In honesty although I said earlier he should retire, now I hope he is dropped then no blame can be put on his shoulders when England screw it up in the summer, he can say I was always available to the national coach!

I realise I am being far too idealistic and even if this happens it will still be JT's fault and probably Ashleys and Franks to oh yeah and Studge if he goes, and probably basically anyone who has ever been involved with Chelsea!

Agreed, its easy to forget what sort of a man he actually is with all the negativity rammed down your throat by the media.

I think it also highlights the fact that when Terry finally moves on, Luiz should be the man to step up to the captaincy. I can picture Luiz doing similar things now.

Seems the new temporary England manager has previous form very similar to that ALLEGED against JT, more stupidity from England's governing body,  from press today-

Saying sorry: Pearce's apology to Ince
The Daily Telegraph, 21 December 1994 Stuart Pearce, the England defender and Nottingham Forest captain, is to apologise to Paul Ince, his international colleague, for allegedly making racist comments.
Pearce was said to have made the comments during Forest's 2-1 win at Old Trafford on Saturday, United's first home defeat of the season.
Yesterday Gordon Taylor, the chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association, said: "I have spoken to Stuart and he will be ringing Paul to apologise.
"The PFA is determined to eradicate any form of racism in the game and is currently in the second season of a campaign geared to combat the problem."
Taylor added: "Stuart wants to make sure they are back on friendly terms again especially as they are England colleagues. I am sure Terry Venables [the England coach] will be pleased with that.
"Stuart regrets what he said. It was said in the heat of the moment. He wants to make sure everybody knows he is sorry and hopefully that will be the end of the matter. I am sure Paul will accept the apology in the manner in which it is intended."

So a new man is appointed and within a day they are digging up stories about him from 18 years ago?

What the f**k is the matter with these people? Will they stop at nothing to try and get a few more clicks on their websites, a few more idiots following their twitter feeds?

I..I just don't even really know what to say, it just pisses me off no end.

Should you share my disquiet at the interference, and pressurising of FA, emanating from Parliament in regard to sacking of JT as England captain, I'd be pleased to hear your views on using the government's own Epetition site to voice our(?) rejection of politicians' involvement in football. I have already Emailed my dissatisfaction to my MP, BBCNews24 and SkySports... and received not one reply, well I never! At time of election, I neither cast my vote for Tory nor Labour camps, my motivation is solely to inform Westminster PLC that, irrespective of an individual's club allegiance (hopefully), football supporters en masse find politicians meddling with our game is unacceptable... so kindly consider the following draft

Keep Politicians out of Football
On 2nd February, Damien Collins MP; a member of the Commons Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, appeared on several media platforms calling for John Terry to be stripped of the England captaincy due to the July court case in which Anton Ferdinand claims to have been the victim of racist comments made by John Terry during a Premiership game between Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea. Within hours, the Football Association Chairman, arguably propelled by Damien Collins' puppet strings, meekly complied by sacking John Terry of the captaincy.
The involvement of Damien Collins MP in the Commons Select Committee's review of football governance into Leeds United FC during 2011, as recorded in the Yorkshire Post of 4th August 2011, prompted the Leeds Chairman to pose the question: "Why Damian Collins is carrying such a torch for Leeds United when he is an avowed Manchester United supporter living in Kent, as many of them do, I do not know. I suspect there is a hidden agenda here or he has a vendetta against the club or myself".
Following the withdrawal from consideration, as a candidate for now vacant England captain position, by Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand, Damien Collins has made no further public statement on the matter.

Lord Triesman applauds the Football Association's decision to sack John Terry as England captain, praising the high standards set by politicians. Lord Triesman, former FA Chief Executive, was forced to retire his FA position following his indiscretions to a lady over lunch, who bugged his remarks.

9th February 2012, Fabio Capeollo, statistically the most successful England Manager in more than 40 years, resigns citing FA's sacking of John Terry's captaincy as undermining the Manager's credibility and a contradiction to the individual's basic democratic right to be considered "innocent until proven otherwise".

10th February 2012, on a day when the UK political arena focussed upon NHS reforms, the alleged bonus of Barclays Bank Chairman, the imprisonment of religious extremists and allegations made in The Sun of alleged racist implications in relation to interim England Football manager, Stuart Pearce, Prime Minister Cameron, in his interview to BBCNews24 from Sweden, opted to focus on football matters (arguably influenced by his acquaintance with a former Sun editor) by claiming that "Fabio Capello was wrong" in relation to John Terry, and emphasised his view by adding "you can't be captain with that question mark that needs to be answered"... before John Terry has taken one step into court to answer the charges against him... while Andy Coulson is still fresh in our minds and Diane Abbott MP retains her seat in the Commons following her "White people" Twitter remarks.

11th February 2012, five Sun journalists arrested. Ignoring their lengthy and concerted "guilty until innocent" smear campaign against John Terry, The Sun cries "It's a Witch Hunt"

We, the undersigned, conclude that the blatant hypocrisy and odious agendas employed by Members of both Houses of Parliament unequivocally demonstrates that politicians are unfit persons to be involved in football and that the UK's once proud democracy has been tarnished by the erosion of the principle of "Innocent till proven guilty" emanating from Westminster. Football supporters and lovers of the game will not tolerate attempts by Parliament to influence our beautiful game and demonstrate that principle at the ballot box.

Should the above spark sufficient support, its undoubtedly best to proceed quickly as history shows that Westminster PLC thrives on public apathy
Stay brite

I know this just sounds like being a Chelsea fan to a person that supports any other club, but people keep making a big deal about the South Africa "coup".  Armband or not, JT is the best leader in English football, maybe all football.  He's had a lot of issues over the year (whether or not they are true seems to be irrelevant since they all seem to be brought up anytime his name is mentioned), but the "coup" in 2010 was more of a service to England than a scandal.

I would love to see him hang it up and for England to crash out in the group stages, although I would feel for our boys that make the trip, as well as a certain few other England players (mainly Scott Parker).

He was set up in that coup, and it was a disgrace to see him hung out to dry. Minutes after he had said what he said the majority of journalists were on twitter and web sites agreenig with hi, saying it was a good thing that he had done. The next morning they all hammered him and called him a disgrace.
