does anyone know how long brana is out for?? i do like the idea of attacking fullbacks which allows mata and studge to move more centrally

AVB said he'd be back for Pompey game.

I can't see us winning this, it has draw written all over it IMO, probably another 1-1.

It was 3-3 last year wasn't it? Around this time of year as well.

With a lot of calls for creativity in the midfield, let me adjust your lineup Castiel and go on a flyer here...

----------------- Cech ---------------

---Paulo - Luiz - Terry - Cole---

-------- Ramires - Romeu --------

Sturridge - McEachran - Mata

--------------- Torres --------------

Would love to see this.

I really liked how Malouda preformed yesterday so an alteration to the 4231 I proposed when Rambo was suspended:

------------ Cech ------------

Paulo - Luiz - Terry - Cole

---- Ramires - Romeu ----

Sturridge - Mata - Malouda

------------ Torres ------------

Wouldn't mind this either.

This game will be on new years eve so I will be surrounded with friends and relatives. Few of them likes football, barely anyone likes english football and apart from myself only one gives a flying hoo-haa about Chelsea (the only one being my mom who actually much more prefers Barcelona and, sorry to say, even likes Arsenal).

Because of this I might miss this game. I could tell them to f*ck off and let me watch my Chelsea, but I don't think it's the right way to end the year. I mean, they might actually take offence to it.

The match ends at around 18:00 CET. How early do you start the festivities?

Malouda starting? Maybe if he's on a short leash. He came on with something to prove against Fulham. He sees his career slipping away and he wants to prove he's worth buying. But if he doesn't show the same energy he had against Fulham, off with him.

The primary benefit of starting Malouda is that it puts Mata in the middle, where he can get things going. Having Ramires back will make a big difference too.

Villa aren't the most adventurous lot under McLeish. It will be interesting to see if AVB elects to sit back once again.

Love the Castiel line up that is going around.  I'll throw my prediction out there that Paulo will have a great game at the back...and an assist.

2AM start New Years Day. Could be interesting.

We should be winning this but you toss a coin at this time of the year with us.

Is this injecting too much youth in our lineup? I figure if Josh in the middle isn't working, we can always slide Mata in and put Malouda on the wing. This also allows for a pretty seamless transition to a 4-3-3 if need be as well.

::clap2::

Great Line-Up.

Now if only AVB thought it was a great line up also.

If we can't even beat Wigan or Fulham, i can't see us beating Villa. 0-0 for this one methinks.

We will win this game and win it playing great football and scorring loads of goals....... purely cos I am missing it.
Last game I missed was Wolves.
I opted for a ticket for Liverscum (carling cup defeat) but missed Valencia (Champs league victory), there is definately a patern....

Mark my words, a victory with loads of goals. Nando to get a hatrick probaby.........probably....

Lets just go on and trash them. Villa on the other hand is just the type of team we have had lot of trouble with this season(QPR, Fulham...). Is AVB doing his homework properly or why do we look like a beaten team against these park-the-bus teams.

I'm expecting a Sturridge home hat-trick!! That would be fun.

Usually I would be thankful that this is a home game, as we have had a tough time of it over the years up at Villa.  But we are hardly Fortress Stamford Bridge anymore either.  Clean sheet would be nice
