Huh?

crustacean?  Like a sea shell? a crab? a mussel? an oyster?

statuesque?  eh? how?

lackadaisical - good word = lacking oomph, bounce, energy, joie de vivre etc

I think we can forget any notion of Chelsea attaining anything this season - apart from a mid-table position! This a team very much in transition, with many ageing players requiring replacement and it's probably going to take a couple of seasons to get through this. Although I've never been certain that AVB was a good choice I think we should stick with him for the foreseeable future as the constant changing of managers only adds to the confusion and uncertainty. This obviously going to be a difficult time but I think we're just going to have to 'grit our teeth' and see it through.

Chelsea and Chelsea fans aren't accustomed to losing.

I think that explains the reaction to the result.

However, the team isn't that far away. Yes, players are needed. But it won't take much to make a difference. A lot of good things are happening out there on the pitch.

(God, I hate that w**ker announcer, though.)

This is how you pay for the lack of vision. Had we heeded the warning of Sir Red Nose and started the rebuilding process back then, we'd not be stuck in this position of having to do a complete overhaul of the squad with almost half of the team needing a replacement. We all know that is not a pretty situation to be in. Lets hope this is a learning for the future.

I would question that... History has shown that isnt true and our fans have been well accustomed to losing regularly over the years!

Whilst I agree that our team has had success during the recent past few years, Historically we have rarely had success over the longer term. If any more recent gloryhunting "fans" (I use that word lightly) are only interested in supporting us in times of success/winning then they can always go and support city instead!

You're right. I should have written that Chelsea fans of the last decade or so aren't used to losing. Long-term fans have a very different perspective.

Didn't Drogba score a penalty in this game? Funny, just one over-riding memory of a Drogba penalty.

We lost to bloody Aston Villa 3-1 at home. Ah well, guess we'll get over it.
