Crespo was a decent player for us. Torres, because of his price tag.

Our worst buy for me is Yuri Zhirkov. He played about 20 games for us in two years and cost 18m + wages. At least Torres gets on the pitch.

Yeah, but didn't we get a big chunk of that money back when we sold Zhirkov to that Russian team?

sh*t Crespo??? the Hernan variety... who scored 300 goals in 18 seasons, who banged in 20 goals from 49 Chels appearances and, still playing in India, has become the most expensive player in the recent NFL inspired player auction. Well if that's sh*t I'll have two pints of it

Malouda. A man who has played just half a season of good football at the highest level his entire career.

Three months under Hiddink, the entire Double-winning season, and then the first couple months of the next year . . . I make it a season and a half of real quality play from Malouda, more than enough to take him out of contention for this argument.

I agree, this topic is stupid. Crespo wasn't a bad buy at all, Shevchenko was a good idea as he was a proven striker at top European level. Torres is still with us and even though ha barely scored, he's contributed to the team a lot. Plus, he could still turn things around.

Worst buy for me? Winston Bogarde. Played very few games and when he did was woeful. And was on about 50k a week I think (which was a lot those days)

Oh we could go on for weeks about bad buys, lets focus on the good ones!

Lampard is probably the best £11m well spent of anyones money!

Kezman anyone? Yes cost us what, £5m? Compared to others that doesnt sound too bad but he was sh*te considering his record in spain!

Best buy, I agree Frank Lampard. Who couldn't agree with that? £11,000,000 West Ham (and the rest of England I may add) were laughing at us.

Whos laughing now?

Shouldn't this be in the general section and not Match chat?

Cech was a good bit of business as well.  £7m for a world class keeper.  f**k sake Hunt.

He had also played in a world cup final before he came to us and won french player of the year. How can someone that played at the level of football he did for us and was such a major part of a successful campaign even begin to be talked about as a flop???

Bogarde as mentioned above and mutu are the two names that immediately spring to mind for me. Saying that though this is an awful thread which i would never have commented in if it wasnt for someone mentioning malouda

Shevchenko for sure, I expected him to be not just a scorer but a leader and inspiration for the others. In fact he's been a blunder.
