Just back from the game.

We were rubbish in the first half, the same scared, slow play that has plagued us so much this season. We let Pompey have two great chances and we could only be thankful they missed the goal. Pretty much the only thing of note was a great Torres header that the keeper spectacularly saved for a corner.

Second half was a different story. Bolder, more decisive, more penetrative football. Very glad for Frank for his goal and he had a decent game with some outstanding passes. Torres looks sadly lacking in any confidence and pretty much everytime it came to him getting a good chance, you could just see he wasn't going to take it. Bosingwa is even more flaky in defense when you watch the game live.

Moments of the match for me were: Sian Massey checking the net (both halves) at our end to the tune of loud whistles and "Celery" :139: , Luiz trying to score a goal from a corner ala Zole v Norwich, and Terry's amazing goal-line clearance that nearly left him injured.

Good of the lads to leave all four for the second half as well, seeing as how my seat had a terrible view of the Shed End's goal, so goals there would have required a fair amount of crouching :good2:

Let it be QPR, let it be QPR, let it be QPR....

I'd like to stick a dagger in any hope they have this season.

Have to say Ramires is certainly making a case to be POY thus far... Seeing how far he's come from last year and how he is on top of his game now with room to grow is exceptional!  Torres has been getting involved as well, think he's behind Mata now in assists with not a whole lot if playing time.  Of course we'd all love to see him score but I will take the assists anyway over being bone idle.  Something Shearer said a few weeks back on MOTD was why isn't Torres in the box more?  Since than, I've noticed a lot more that Torres is all over the place, perhaps trying to do too much.  But again, being productive in any way is a plus!  Maybe not 50m plus but I truly think the goals will come... I don't know, perhaps I am reaching for that silver lining but?  Lampard closing in on Kerry is nice and love to see him do it this year but that's asking a lot these days!  Luiz is still a bit lost, perhaps we sign Cahill and Luiz could rotate out on the left.  He's a better defender than Bosingwa and has great ball handling skills.  I remember a certain Scottish Spur who was playing out of position until moved and has now flourished as an unstoppable 23 year old...  Never know but perhaps Luiz should be on the left or even a holding midfielder... Again, I am just trying to find the silver lining...

How many away from the record?

He is 23 away from the all time Chelsea record. Might be a bit to much to ask this season, but with Frank you never know...

Flattering scoreline, but its not the first time we have played lower league opposition in the 3rd round after xmas and been found wanting. Oh and Burley is a bitter, miserable prick and go f**k himself vigorously with a massive cactus.

I would also like to ask those who said Ramires was rubbish and would never be good enough to play for Chelsea what they think of him now, considering he is possibly our most important player at the moment.

How many goals does this guy have at the moment? 8? 10? Taking shooting lessons from Frank, boyo?

TBH, if Torres makes goals instead of scoring, I'd be happy with that.

Edit: Some tweets from Mata

Very happy with my goal and the team's victory in my first FA Cup match, the oldest football tournament of the world...

Our winning streak in 2012 goes on! Hugs!

Some (a lot?) of people here were angry at the full-strength team.

Not me. I want to win the FA Cup. No messing about.

Ramires was just awesome. I don't know when will Torres score, but looks like he will set up quite a few goals this season. Would be ironic if he ends up to have to most assist at the end of the season. Lampard keeping score goals, may just edged Mereiless in the pecking order for next weekend.

I agree for the most part and assumed that Josh was being kept out to not cup-tie him, although the team he goes to will probably only have one game in the tourney before they are knocked out anyways. I was just hoping to see Ash rested for Bertrand from the start.

Did Malouda actually go past a defender on the way to setting up Mata's goal? O.O

Agree wxwax. No f**king about. Youngsters get their chance in the Carling Cup, FA Cup is a serious competition that we want to win.

But its also a fair point that Bertrand isn't really a youngster. Also, its not like he's looked bad when played against Premiership opposition this season or that Cole has looked undroppable.

Didn't he have 4 assists in 5 games going into last night?

Not having a go at Cole Spiller. Just saying everything else takes a back seat to finishing top 4 this season, and with Cole just like last season, playing the most minutes(which has showed at times some would argue), that giving him a rest would have been in our better interest.

Yes, but don't worry, the FA have been alerted and they've ordered a drugs test.
