Ramires
ahead of Sturridge, Mata & JT.
No other contenders really.

Ramires for me too. Stand-out candidate by quite some way to be honest.

I noticed something about Romeu when doing some stats that was intetesting to me:
last 7 games: goals for: 12, against: 8, goal difference: +4.
With Romeu in the side, goal diff = +6.
1-0 v wigan, romeu off we lose the second half 1-0 and.drop 2 pts. 1-1 v villa, romeu off we lose the rest of the game 2-0 and drop a pt. Beating pompey 1-0, romeu comes on and we win the rest of the game 3-0.
not really groundbreaking I know but with romeu on the pitch we conceded 1 goal v city, 0 goals v wigan, 0 goals v spurs, 1 v fulham, 1 v villa, 1 v wolves, 0 v pompey.
Only 4 goals conceded with him playing in 7 games but 8 conceded in all those games and he played in each game.
Just a little stat.

Final stat from those games:
Romeu played approx 430 mins, on average we conceded a goal every 107 mins.
Without romeu we played 200, mins conceding a goal every 50 mins.

Chalk up another for Ramires, winner by a clear length, Sturridge and Mata fighting neck and neck for second.

Rambo.
Mata, Sturridge, and JT in a close race for 2nd.
Probably Romeu after them.

To be fair Bumstead, correlation doesn't imply causation. We didn't concede those goals purely because Romeu wasn't on. You've got to factor in whether we were playing without a DM having moved Mata into midfield, whether Ash and Bosingwa were more advanced because we were chasing the game, individual errors (Cech against Wigan). Lots of reasons why we concede, don't be fooled to much by the stats.
My player would be Sturridge, he's the only forward currently scoring at the level he should be, he is perhaps exceeding that level. As it stands Torres will probably win the Match Chat player of the year, because every time he manages not to f**k up entirely, he seems to win the vote out of sympathy.

Ramires has been excellent but I'd go for Juan Mata. He's adapted well from a very different league and has been excellent in all competitions for us.

Rambo for me too.

I wouldn't say anyone is a shoe-in at this stage out of the names mentioned...i'd say Ramires, Mata and Sturridge are all about level at the moment and the next few months will determine who wins out...
Ramires has done well, but surprised how people are saying he's so far ahead of sturridge, who is our top scorer and been our main threat up top...and mata has provided the flair...yes ramires has provided energy and goals, he deserves to be in contention, but I can't see how he is miles ahead of the other two...
people said how much we missed ramires against Fulham etc, I think the same can be said of mata and sturridge when they're not in the team
