Thats how I see it to be honest, I think Cahill will be partnering either Luiz or ANO next season as a straight replacement for JT.

Well I think that's a worry if true. Admittedly I've not seen a lot of Cahill but I thought he had been brought in to add some depth, as cover for Terry and Luiz and to provide some competition. Luiz particularly could benefit from it. If we're thinking of a replacement for JT we're going to have to find someone genuinely world-class, because that's what he is. Without him we would have conceded a lot more goals and been further down the league. I do not think Cahill can ever fill those boots, though I welcome the signing. Just a hunch though and maybe I am being hard on him. However, players like JT come along very rarely. He is by far the best defender I have ever seen play for us. We will only truly appreciate his value when he's gone.

Davey, it's not true, such a move would be suicidal.  JT is still a top class defender who I have heard Hansen praise on many occasions over the years, including recently (christ he's one of the only ones).  I think your call is the more accurate one to be honest, unless such a change is made for political reasons...

We have conceded 1 in our last 5. We are certainly looking more secure. Luiz is certainly getting better though still prone to the odd rush of blood to the head.

Despite the fact we haven't been great to watch we have lost only once in our last 12.

Utd out of the CL, CC and FA Cup. They'll possibly win the title but everyone had them doing that at the beginning of the season anyway.

Funny how things work .. it seems only yesterday everyone was saying our problem was our defence ..

Now they're saying our problem is our attack.

I think Andre deserves credit for tightening things at the back. You cannot win anything with a bad defence.

So we're calming down with the overreactions now eh?  AVB had our attack working in the beginning but our defence let us down.  Now he's got the defence working and our attack lost the plot.  He'll figure out the balance eventually.  5 point breathing room in 4th, still in the CL and FA cup.  Life isn't that bad.  We rarely look like losing a game, we just can't break through.  Its not an unsolvable problem.

I really wish people would leave Luiz alone.  He's been with us for a year and has been spectacular for me in the last few weeks having really tidied up his game.  Reminds me of the sh*t Ramires got when he first got here.  Plenty of egg on faces for that one as well.

Thats interesting when you see the stats. Never thought of it that way; Davey and Castiel you make an excellent points.

We were very loose and gung ho earlier in the season but now we are anything but that. Striking the balance is indeed key.

I wonder if he can achieve that balance and maintain it.

Despite the fact he was a fantastic defender, his punditry skills leave something to be desired. Still, can't be worse than Mark Lawrenson. CAN HE!?

Hansen always sounds like he's been at the scotch on MOTD...
