Tried to find an older topic to put this on but I couldn't so I decided to start one.

I started to compare our last season and the current one and as it is we had 35 points in 21 games last season. Now we stand at 40 points from 21 games. AVB has actually done better than Carlo last season. Can't be really compared as I don't want to go in deeper and look for opponents we faced then and now...

Next three games for current top four is:
(from Premierleague.com)

team                                              GP                           P                              next                                      next                                    next

Manchester City 21 51 Tottenham (H)                      Everton (A)                         Fulham (H)
Manchester United                        21 48 Arsenal (A)                           Stoke (H) Chelsea (A)
Tottenham Hotspur                        21                           46 Man City (A)                          Wigan (H)                           Liverpool (A)
Chelsea                                         21 40 Norwich (A)                           Swansea (A)                      Man Utd (H)

We have the easiest two games ahead of us(from all the teams) just looking at the team names(Norwich and Swansea especially are not easy by any means) so before the epic ManUtd home game we could be close to Spuds who is our main rival at the moment. ManU has a very tough trio ahead of them with Spuds. It isn't a walk in the park for City either the way they are playing.

If we manage to get 6 points from the first two games we might be in a situation where a win from ManU could take us third. And we'd be in a shouting distance from ManU as well.

We just won Sunderland who is one of the best performers of late in this league so we should be on a high note. We just solified our back-line with Cahill so only two wins from the two next fixtures are satisfactory.

It wouldn't be too bad from a new manager implementing a new system with a couple of new players, is it? I know that our players need these 'carrots' to play better and fight harder. FA cup and CL are the big carrots but we shouldn't be on a bad mood because the table doesn't look what we are used to see.

Now bring on Norwich!

It is quite good to see that we are better off this season than last. AVB is getting a lot of flack on here and from the media but he isnt doing such a bad job as people think.
I think its quite clear that the team last season was over the hill and needed to be refreshed.

As for the next 3 games, i would like at least 7 points but who knows, Norwich have been playing well this season and Swansea beat the gooners on sunday and United are always a tough challenge so if we can get 7 points from those games i will be over the moon.

7 points would be huge. I have a feeling Spuds are going to face a tough time in these 3 games.

I'm hoping Cahill brings something to the team instead of just being a backup. I really hope he clicks with everyone, especially JT.

I Suggest we start Cahill over Luiz against Norwich just because of Cahill's heading ability

Norwich will win each and every header , we just have to make sure the header's they win arent in our box -.-

Well it certainly seems we're doing worse than last year, but I suppose that's just because Man City and Spurs have improved and are doing better than last year. We've lost too many games this year, but at least it's mostly been against "good" sides, like Man Utd, Arsenal, etc... Whereas last year we were losing to the likes of Wolves and Sunderland.

This year I believe we have initiated a plan and have greater direction and purpose in achieving that.  Behind all that I'd be v-surprised if there isn't a strategy so for those reasons I think we're in a better position than last season.

Definitely agree. Might have changed from a few weeks' ago, but I'm sure they have the highest number of headed goals in the league (maybe %wise, not sure). Morison and Holt are dangerous players.
