Feel like I should go for Ivan he put in a top effort and that Torres assist was class but I am a sucker for Mata.

Spiller I thought Ivan had a good game overall, but I felt he allowed Giggs too much time and space for the cross to Hernandez.

He initially moved towards him and if he had kept going he would have closed the space quicker and forced Giggs into an early move, but he held off and did that stupid arms behind the back pose.

You're probably right, I was edgy about that the whole match. Especially with not closing down, Giggs, Scholes and Carrick after they started to get a little ball after that pen.

It wasn't as if they were going to shimmy around the player who came out to close down. Their whole thing is passing and they had Wellbeck, Hernandez and Rooney to aim at with space and time.

Given it was going on for the whole second half, it's possible it was a tactical thing more than a mistake by Ivan.

Still the blame lies with Luiz who lost Hernandez's run, but of course given he and Cahill had never played together that could have always happened.

As I say Ivan was a mountain today, really good. But of course as a defender it only takes one mistake. It is like batting vs bowling in cricket. One side gets all day to have a go at you and can get it wrong as often as they like, but as a defender if you make one mistake you're f**ked in the eyes of the post match raters.

Mata for me. Ivanovic looked good and I wouldn't blame him for the penalty, but I feel he should've done better for the third goal, as should Cahill to be honest. Cech made some great saves too and couldn't be blamed for any of the goals.

I voted for Luiz.

Just give him the armband and build the team around him. It’s pretty obvious he is going to be better than Beckenbauer, some might say he already is.

MAybe he did that because we'd just had two dubious at best penalties given against us - It must have been on his mind.

Either way YB he had a great game. I've watched it again and aside from Mata I'd say Ivan was solidly our next best. He and Cahill have clearly been attending the balls to the wall school of defending, with headmaster John Terry because they made some terrific last minute, blocks, interceptions and clearances.

Definitely, Spiller - I'm torn between Ivan and Mata, myself (and not in a gay way, either)
