Another woeful performance yesterday but there again we got that from most of the team. I am afraid we will continue to see these types of performances from him and others until the end of the season, blowing luke warm and cold, disinterested when we're down or getting outplayed, hobbling around for 5-10 minutes acting out the hero status which he has done many times over his career with us, sometimes its just pathetic to watch. Who replaces him? I don't know but this club will be mental to give him the two year contract that he demands. One year deal and he plays a supporting role from the bench, if he doesn't accept it let him go to China or elsewhere to grab his final pay cheque. I want to remember him for his goals...not his antics and lack of effort.

I've had my say on yesterdays game and how the players for me looked like they gave it about 50%, I've said many times that if just one or two are not giving it their best shot at sticking to the gameplan then that will have a huge effect on the whole of the team and the overall shape, yesterday I felt the malaise ran further than one or two players and thats understandable when it keeps happening, If many of us can see these players not putting in full effort then its plainly obvious the players that have been will soon get sick of seeing it and their standard of effort will dwindle.

I don't think Drgba was a culprit yesterday, hes not the player he was but he done ok and looked like he wanted it more than a few out there, his play on the wing and the Ball to Sturridge should have set up a win and had Sturridge put it away I think some players might have been a bit more interested, instead its another game where they just let it go by them.

A shrug of the shoulders and who cares its only AVBs job on the line.

Chippy, I think that 50% is a bit of an exaggeration but I suppose we all see it a bit differently. Agree with you about Drogs though & I think I'll always remember how he received that ball yesterday at the edge of the box, back to goal man on, nutmegged him and he was through racing towards the keeper on the angle. Magic. Had the option of shooting or squaring to Sturridge and he squared it and that was that. Anyway, his ability at that moment was as good as its ever been imo.

I think Didier is more of a Big game player nowadays.. he didn't necessarily show it away at Napoli, but you can see he's more about being the 'special' player in a game of importance rather than chasing down a ball at the hawthorns. A team need to believe in eachother, but at the moment there are evident divided groups, portuguese/brazilian + youngsters - English/+older guard.. Needs to change, and a trip abroad doesnt bring players together, a good talking to about growing up and showing them that this is there career, fight for your job, play for the fans and not for your egos.

I guess its all water under the bridge now that AVB gone....my best guess is that Drogba and the rest of the old guard will be selected game in game out until the end of the year or we are out of all competitions and the fight for 4th.

Completely agree Youlots. For me Drogba was probably our hardest working player on Saturday. The defensive work he put in, especially defending WBA set-pieces was superb. I also felt Torres put in a good effort when he came on.

He's after a pay rise.

.............. give him a two year contract extension. Let him see out his career at SW6 where he belongs.

Magestic last night, utterly.. Magestic.

Even the "bad" side of Drogba was put to good use last night, that bit of play acting stopped another serge at our goal.

He still has it when he wants it badly. I don't think we can expect him to play a flawless game like this every week, but he's the man for the big CL and FA Cup matches!
