Apologies if I am posting this in the wrong area so mods please feel free to move it if needs be. I'm interested in others thoughts on this.

My personal thoughts are that it's yet another avenue cut off from supporters of the game who can no longer afford to attend matches, or pay the ever increasing subscription charges levied by Sky and now BT.

 

Whilst I don't expect to have access to live games for free, the subscription rates have now placed it well beyond my means, and I suspect I am not alone in that. It seems ironic that whilst the Premier League and individual club revenues from TV and sponsorship deals have gone through the roof, the benefits have not filtered down to the ordinary fan who one way or another just wants to watch and support his/her team.

 

The Premier League now going after 6 second Vines, most of which are poor quality anyway, is another step too far.  No doubt some will disagree, but I am feeling very alienated from the game I used to love.

Have you tried vipbox lately ?  It was great for streams last season, not anymore though.

 

Never tried vipbox but used sopcast over pre-season, which was unbelievable quality. There weren't any English streams on that though, was hoping that there would be for the premier league season though.

 

Was at Burnley on Monday so no idea if there was good sopcast streams, fingers crossed there will be on Saturday.

Apparently the latest TV deal negotiated by the Premier League, and therefore the clubs within it, would enable every PL club to allow fans in for free for the entire season and still receive the same revenue they received last season.

 

Now of course I'm not suggesting for one minute that should happen that would be madness.

 

The point I am trying to make is that with revenue streams reaching stratospheric levels, why do the Premier League feel it necessary to block just about every other avenue fans have of accessing any coverage at all unless they pay an ever increasing monthly subscription fee, most of which are locked in on 12-24 month contracts ?

 

Do they really think a 6 second vine is going to deny them of income ? If anything they are an advert for the game, and attract an even wider audience. Maybe it's just me getting old and grumpy but the billions of £'s now flooding into the game have done nothing at all for the average supporter, quite the opposite in fact. Time for me to lay down and take some medication having got that that moan off my chest. ;-)

Everyone has to pay a separate fee on top of their cable bill to watch matches and has to pay whatever channel airs the matches? So if Chelsea is on Sky one needs to order their package to view it and if they are on BT they have to pay that too? Am I right on this?

I live in the States the land of nickel and dimed and we do not even have that. Here major sports are broadcasted over the networks because the leagues charge those networks. The networks pass that expense on to the advertisers who happily pay because they know everyone watches! More viewers means more get to see the products peddled. I guess with football though commercials are not as prevalent as say the NFL who show commercials every 90 seconds. With that said though most need basic cable to get NBC Sports to watch the Premiership. Or they can pay NBC and get access to every match of the season to view online. Are you guys barred from paying NBC Sports their Web subscription to watch matches?

Everyone here gets 'freeview' which is a pretty standard, non cable and free to air tv service.

If you want to watch premier league and other football you have 4 choices

> Pay BSKYB aka Sky Sports a monthly subscription - circa £50 ($80) a month and you'll get probably 5 matches a weekend, some of which may not always be premier league

> Pay BT Sport £15 (I think) a month to get the same, although they are a little more up and coming, dont have as much... its free (probably for this season only) if you have their broadband

> Pay them both a lot of money

> Buy an illegal sky box f5 and pay £50 a year and get more sport that you can shake a stick at, including 3pm games

I have had all three at one stage, now I have the last one and its awesome.
