It's all a bit over the top, a 40 year old kicked him in the shin???  What sort of a 40 year old does that?  He's going to get done for assult now so he might as well have given him a pasting so that he get's his money's worth.
The BBC report is crap though, Old Red nose suffered leg injuries!!!!  Bollox, he got a bruise and maybe a slight graze, hardly an injury though is it?

I love the inference in the report that Fergusson was born in Glasgow so he should be used to this sort of thing...
