Walked straight down the tunnel at the final whistle, didn't even stay to console the players.
Has to go.
Has to go.

wow this post came up faster than i thought. McClaren should have been sacked a long time ago. Even if england had made it, it's highly unlikely that they would have made it. Now who to step in for Macca, some saying Jol {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif

Had we scraped through tonight it would have been 100% undeserved. In that first half we looked like 11 players who had never played together before and had no clue what they were meant to be doing. He should have walked at half time.

at least we're saved the embarassment of getting knocked out early next summer

McClaren has to go, yes, but so does most the England team. After scoring the equalizer the entire team went numb. They didn't do s*it. Horrible performance.
Sorry to say this, but England certainly doesn't deserve to be in the European Championship.

I wouldn't apologise for it Moos, you are absolutely right.
We were a bloody shambles tonight and we have been a bloody shambles for a large part of this qualification. Tonight I give credit to Crouch and SWP and that is it.

Was SWP good? Why was he brought off and replaced with Beckham (expect that's what happened)?

SWP and Crouch were the only two England players in the 1st half who looked like they were on their game. It was a terrible decision to take him off at HT. OK Beckham set up Crouch but other than that he was practicalyl invisible (although part of that was down to our tactic of constantly playing right through the middle of the park where Croatia were clearly 50 times more intelligent than we were).
If McLAren was that desperate to get Beckham on he should have brought him on on a central role and left SWP out wide or even gambled and brought him on as a wing back.

swp was one of the better players in the first half despite being taken off. he certainly had some of our better moments...crouch's heading was woeful...he never found a team-mate, yet he was still one of our better players...the only defence is we were missing some key players, rooney, owen, terry, ferdinand, but not good enough

I think you are harsh on Crouch there Brit. He was totally isolated in the first half and constantly had two defenders on him. Lampard and Gerrard should have been far closer to him to pick up his knock downs. I think he did all he could and it was the system and the other players around him who let him down.

Gutted.
McClaren should never have got the job in the first place - we all know that - he's f**king clueless.
Thought Crouch was our best player. Don't think Lamps and Joe were that bad (not great but not terrible). Gerrard was sh*te as were most of the rest. Disagree about SWP Loz. Thought he did very little and totally let the guy go for the second goal. And Bridgey had his worst ever game. {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif EVER
Bollocks. It's gonna be a long summer. I can get the old garden in shape.

The day when Chelsea supporters judge Crouch to be one of the best on the pitch truly is a sad day for english football {SMILIES_PATH}/346.gif

have to agree to disagree here loz...give drogba that amount of service and space and he would have done a lot more with it...but like I said he was still one of our better players, it's just not saying that much

Crouch and Drogba are very different players though. I would never expect Crouch to do what Drogba does because a) he doesn't have the upper body strength and

Mcclaren has said that he has absolutely no thoughts about resigning and is not thinking about it at the moment - Five Live just now.
I think he days are numbered - they have to be surely.
But the problem is who would have the job now?
O'Neil surely after being mucked around the last time will give up the chance of doing well with Villa to have a few more years of useless friendlies.
As for anyone one else of quality - just can't see it.
And is it really all just a new manager you need? Has anyone thought we just don't have the players of combined sufficient quality, judgement and experience to do the job?
We always keep on about our world class players - well who are they and what have they done on the world stage?
Mcclaren has just said to Mike Ingham said there were no excuses tonight and Croatia were very strong and its a huge disappointment. Croatia were relaxed, played their footballl, conditions were poor. We looked very vulnerable, we have failed he said and he will not discuss his future. He is very disappointed for the nation and the fans and he still feels he can do the job but this is not the time to discuss his future.
