That's really pissed me off - he was doing so well with Scotland, and a move to Birmingham can only be a step down. Bad move, Eck!

I can understand if someone wants to quite while he's on top but I really feel bad for Scotland. He should have stayed during the world cup qualifications too.

I think it is a big mistake by both parties. For me McLeish is better suited to international football where he doesn't have the opportunity to build squads and his role is to get the best out of what is at his disposal. At Rangers he started well with the squad provided to him but slowly but surely it deteriorated and he made one strange decision after another in terms of playing people out of position.

Okay, I Know that this might sound ridiculous, but what about Sir red Nose for Scotland?

He has always said he never wanted to do the job again. It would be ridiculous, but not unimaginable, for the SFA to appoint Davies . Other names in the frame might be Moyes, Strachan, Sturrock, McCallister and maybe a very outside bet on someone like McCoist (they would need to drag him way from Ibrox by the ears though)

If i was a gambling man i would be going for a certain Mr Craig Levein to replace him.

So Birmingham now have Mcleish ex Rangers manager
and Villa have O'Neil ex Celtic manager.
could be quite a derby.
