sorry, i just got the two of those lads mixed up a bit there.
so apparently Malouda was all set to be part of the squad against Newcastle until the end of training on Friday, when he reinjured the same knee that had been healing and now is likely out for at least several more weeks.
which made me start to think about...
Malouda, 2007/08 premiership season (through 1/1/08):
14 appearances (12 starts, 2 substitutions) in our 21 games
66.7% appearance rate
1 goal
1 assist
Robben, average performance through 1/1 each of his three premiership seasons with CFC:
14 appearances (10 starts, 4 substitutions) in our 21 games
66.7% appearance rate
3 goals
4 assists
Robben, 2006/2007 premiership season (through 1/1/07):
15 appearances (11 starts, 4 substitutions) in our 22 games
68.1% appearance rate
1 goal
4 assists
Robben, 2005/2006 premiership season (through 1/1/06):
15 appearances (10 starts, 5 substitutions) in our 20 games
75% appearance rate
3 goals
1 assist
Robben, 2004/2005 premiership season (through 1/1/05):
12 appearances (10 starts, 2 substitutions) in our 20 games:
60% appearance rate
5 goals
6 assists
draw your own conclusions, mates!

I think SWP is the only winger we've had in ages who isn't made of glass. Which is ironic when you realize he's an Ompa Lumpa! And let's not forget that Sweepy throws himself into tackles like they're going out of fashion. And you've got Buckley's chance of ever seeing Robben doing that.*
*partly because he's never fit enough to actually be on the field during a match!

Both seem injury prone but Robben was 3 times the player Malouda is when fit so i know who i'd rather have at the club.
Robben was out with a couple of broken feet as well where as Malouda has'nt been playing because 'his head is'nt right' well sorry you dont feel like playing mate, oh by the way we dont feel like paying you this week either {SMILIES_PATH}/w**k2.gif

Naah, don't agree with you. I think Malouda will be good for us eventually. He doesn't have the flair Robben has but he could be more effective than Robben was.

Really?
On CFC TV they said Malouda is fit but not playing as i said because 'his head is'nt right', whatever that means?
Sounds like somebody pondering their future to me.
I think we have seen about all we are going to from Malouda(not alot so far) and he could well leave in January.

Hard to really judge Malouda as he has only played a handful of games and in fairness he started well. Based on the limited amount we have seen him I would say he isn't a patch on Robben and we need a player like Robben (well a version not made of straw) far more than we do a Malouda.

{SMILIES_PATH}/happy0034.gif If we do buy Anelka i dont think we will have a regular place for Malouda.

It would be very nice if Malouda could make himself available to play. Especially as Kalou will be off with the other African players after saturday.

I think i read somewhere here on the forum that he was supposed to be in the lineup against Newcastle but got injured again in training just before the game.

yeah he re-injured himself in training before the Newcaslte game. However, he has also re-started full training today, with Drogba!
