Same for me i'm afraid.

A top top top player, but not quite Chelsea Legend ™.

If he were to continue doing the same for another 3 years, for example, then it would be difficult to ignore him, however, he will bugger off shortly.

It is a tough shout isn't it.  People will often look to loyalty as one of the obvious indicators however how do you know if a player is loyal until it has been tested and even if it is tested and they 'fail' there are always circumstances where you can accept that they were pushed too hard.

For example Carlo can be classified as loyal as he could have easily left us for first team football elsewhere but stayed as our back up, never moaned and always gives his all when called upon.

Lamps has always given his all, been with us a long time but has never needed to show that he is prepared to battle for his place in the team because it has never been in question.  That doesn't mean I question Frank's loyalty, just means it has never been truly tested (say in the way that Joe's has)  (not picking on Frank gem, just using him as an example).

Then there is the situaiton with Gus (Ok ignore future events at Spuds) - here is  a player who desperately wanted to stay but the club wouldn't give him a new contract to secure his future (a contract which I think he had more than earned) and so he felt he had no choice but to leave.  Does that bring his loyalty into question or is he just a man looking to secure the rest of his career and stay in the city where his family are settled and kids are established in schools?

I was there!!  My old man had money on Poyet to score first and a 2-2 draw.  I've never seen him jump so high when that shot went in.  He pocketed £400.

Surely the reason his place has not been in question is because he has earned that right through is performances?  It's harsh to raise a question mark about his loyalty based on that evidence.

And has Joe's loyalty been tested?  Maybe if he wasn't being paid a shed load more money than he would get elsewhere, along with playing in the CL and regularly winning medals, then sticking it out when times were a bit hard might indicate loyalty.

I can sort of understand why opposition fans might want to have a dig at Frank but I am at a loss as to why anyone Chelsea fan would feel that he has been anything other than exceptional for us. (That's not aimed specifically at you Loz)

Anyway, I'm off to the Bridge now.   ::Scalf::  ::Scalf::

That was a legendary goal, there is a thin a difference between a legendary goal and a legendary player/goalscorer.

yeah there are legendary goals, Stanic's first?!  But that doesn't mean the scorers of those goals become legends.  There are players who are totaly down to independent interpretation, and for some people certain players will never be a chelsea legend no matter what they do.

I think that length of time is a deciding factor, but then can we call Jose a legend.  Despite the success he brought us, he caused a lot of backroom trouble, and then left part way into a season.  Had he seen out his contract with us, then yes he would have been a nailed down legend.  And had Drogba stayed with Jose, then surely Drogba would have been considered one too (assuming his continued level of play).  I am not saying jose isn't a legend, he brought us two titles and 6 trophies in 3 years.  And for that he will go in the Chelsea history books forever.  Just as Drogba will for scoring 30+ in a season after Dixon.  Just as Drogba will for scoring the first goal in the new Wembley FA Cup final.  However, going into the history books and becoming a legend are not indicative of instant legend status

What Drogba did for the country of the Ivory Coast is huge, and that goes a long way to showing why he is so passionate about the ACN, so he will be a legend to the IC.  However, at Chelsea, he took a long time to warm up as a palyer on the pitch, and to the fans.  His antics were embarrassing, he cost a lot of money and took a while to justify his price tag.

Now, If Drogs were to sign a 2 year extension to his current contract and show that he was dedicated to the club, and not just Jose, again continuing his brilliant run of play.  Then, I think he would/could go down as a Chelsea legend.  If he leaves in the summer, after being so vocal about leaving the club (which he has since day one) to be with Jose, then we can be thankful of all he has given to us; however, I wouldn't claim him as a legend of Chelsea
