It's his 6th red card of his career, if he hasn't learned from the first three....well maybe he got the point now!  {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif

6 red cards is alot. Especially since we're talking about a guy who is only 20 years old.
I wonder what the record of most red cards in a career is. Mikel might just be on his way to break that record. {SMILIES_PATH}/actions1.gif

Although Mikel will be on duty with Nigeria in the African Cup of Nations for much of the next month, the Football Association yesterday confirmed that his suspension for the tackle on Everton's Phil Neville during Tuesday's Carling Cup tie will begin immediately and so only include matches he was already due to have missed.
..............................

Well,thank God for that.

I know I should feel grateful for that but I really don't. I think it's just stupid. If someone gets suspended it should take place during the time the player is at the club and not when he's off playing somewhere else.

The team has coped well in the latest absence of the first choice keeper with four wins out of four and the man between the posts during that time, Hilario, has spoken about succeeding over Everton on Tuesday with one man less on the pitch.

'Even with 10 men, we believed in ourselves,' he said. 'It is difficult but we pushed hard and we had a chance to score. We believed until the end that we could win the game.

'Mikel is fundamental to us. When we lost him it was hard to find the way to play again and it was difficult to get the win but he has nothing he needs to say to us because he went into the challenge to get the ball. He didn't want to hurt the player, he just wanted to get the ball.

'The refs are more focused on this kind of challenge and everybody has to adapt but on the pitch in that moment, the players are only focused on the ball.'

Hilario is a teammate, but still...

Anyway - Mikel is forgiven but he'd better not do anything like that again any time soon.

Well, not anytime soon...but, probably in a month or so, when he returns from Africa's Cup!!  {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_twisted.gif

What about when a player is suspended, but injured, so would miss the game anyway.

How convenient that he forgot about his two bookable offences, eh?  Wonder if he should have also said "yeah, I should have gone, but I used to play for Man U, and I'm English, so the refs don't send us off do they?"

Mikel - I'm not a monster

Mikel has revealed he has asked for advice from Chelsea team-mate Michael Essien, who was also criticised for his physical style when he arrived in England.

"Essien has given me some advice because he went through this as well," Mikel added. "Things have changed for him now and I hope they do for me."

Hope he sorts it out.  {SMILIES_PATH}/happy0034.gif
