(injuries notwithstanding)

For me it's a toss up between three Chelsea greats:  Essien, Cech and Lamps.  But I'm going to go with Essien.  Cech's been in and out through injuries, so when he's been back he hasn't been the Cech we know. Lamps has played well enough on occasion (but that's it). But Essien I feel has been a shadow of his former self all season (certainly since Jose left).  And it's looked to me that he's been going through the motions and saving himself for the African Cup of Nations.

Let's just hope when he's back that we see the REAL Essien.

Essien haven't been as great as always, but he has been good and solid so he has not disappointed me.. I think no one has really dipped this season. Everyone has kept their form and most of them have even managed to improve.

...But maybe you got a point there BrianM. Essien is, when I think of it now, the only one who is not playing as well as we have used to see him play. Still he is a midfield leader and a rock who everyone want's and who no one want's to face. The Bison!

Most definitley its ASHLEY COLE, what the f*** has he done for us ?

Essien has been quiet, but look at my avatar, dont doubt him, were 4 points off the top and still in all the cups, and Essien is cantering.

Same old Chelsea, taking the pi** !

Drogba!  Hasn't seemed to want it this year the same as the last couple.
Sheva can only be a disappointment if you expect something from him, if you did then more fool you.

Barn beat me to it on Sheva. I can't be disappointed with him as I don't expect him to come good, so when he does score, it's kinda like a bonus.

Many(most) have failed to hit the heights. To be honest, I'd have to say I was even disappointed with Joe as Grant is playing him week in week out and I thought we would see more from him.

But Malouda has been the most disappointing for me. We have seen little of him (despite him not being badly injured??) and when we have seen him, he has often looked well off the pace.

Harsh on Cech. Sure he's made a few mistakes this year but he's only human. He's still maintained a high standard, just not as high by his standards.

Drogba and Lamps haven't hit previous heights, but they've both been injured for parts of the season. Imo, Lamps has been better than last year too.

I'd say Malouda. I was expecting a lot from him, but he's spent half the time injured and the half looking like he may as well be injured.

Drogba is by far the most disapointing.

most disappointing would have to be Sheva, I have backed his star for too long, when he scored those two goals, I thought here we gooooo. Then away he went with some injury. I have a new great hope - Anelka

Interestingly enough, no one mentioned Ben-Haim or Pizarro...they are my two picks for the most disappointing players this season. Essien, Lamps and DD have played bellow their requirements, but not badly enough to be called "the most disappointing".

You can't really say Tal, because he was signed as a back-up, but has more playing time then some of our regular 11. Pizza could be considered for the prize, but Sheva wins it for me by the basic fact the Pizza was brought here on a free and we (k Abramovich payed  {SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif ) payed an anermous load of money for Sheva.

I can't beleive some people consider Drogba our most disappointing player............

His been arguably our best player when his been on the park and dispite his mouthing off with the press his workrate has never dropped.

You have to have a very very short term memory if your allready forgetting how good Drogba has been on the park so far this season.

I think a lot of us aren't voting for Sheva, because we didn't have any expectations that he'd be above mediocre this season anyway!  Same with Sidwell.  Did anyone really expect him to be anything more than average? Whereas with Lamps, Essien, Cech, we naturally expected them to be excellent.
