Rajkovic looks really, really good.

I thought he did as well.

But not as good as young Spiranovic for the Aussies.  He's going to be one hell of a player - destined for one of the top clubs in Europe in my opinion.

how has Kalou looked?

He scored a goal today, but we seriously need to sign this Gervinho kid before Arse does!

Seconded.  He ran rings around a very good Argentine defence.  Made them look pretty amaturish in my opinion.

He'd probably be quite keen to come to us as well, given that we have Drogba and Kalou.

Salomon Kalou was on the score sheet as his Ivory Coast side defeated Serbia 4-2 in the Olympics on Sunday.

The Chelsea forward, sporting a new hair cut, scored his country's third goal in the second half, meaning a win against Australia in their final group game will see them through.

The Ivorians took the lead through Sekou Cisse as early as the third minute, before Serbia drew level on 16 minutes, thanks to Miljan Mrdakovic.

A Slobodan Rajkovic own goal put the Ivorians in front again before Kalou fired home with 21 minutes left to make it 3-1. Djordje Rakic gave Serbia a chance with a minute to go but Gervinho wrapped up the win in injury time.

In the group's other match, Argentina beat Australia 1-0 to seal their progression.

some really nice passing amongst the ivorians and Kalou's new haircut?  Well, I hope it gives him a meaner edge infront of goal.  I'm really looking forward to seeing what Kalou can produce for us this season.

Utterly disgusting and definitely worthy of a suspension however one year for gobbing at a ref when Barton gets 6 games plus a further 6 suspended for physically attacking someone.  Slightly farcical.  Buty then again that is the English FA for you - so much for their Respect campaign!!

the fa arent likely to do much when you have a twat like gordon taylor saying he hopes their lenient on barton. this is the fa statement on barton, so much for clamping down
"The Commission members wanted to punish the offence appropriately but give Mr Barton an opportunity to ensure his professional conduct does not falter again and ensure he is fully aware of the consequences should he make another serious error of judgement." serious error of judgement? unbelievable

Agree with this, it is way too much in comparison, but JESUS CHRIST can we ever get a break with good press? :) Just one PR disaster after another, these days.

Rajkovic appeals against ban following spitting incident at Olympic Games

Chelsea defender Slobodan Rajkovic is appealing against his one-year ban, imposed
after he spat in the direction of a referee at the Olympics.

The 19-year-old Serb, who is on a season-long loan at FC Twente, is due to travel to Zurich on November 10 to present his case to FIFA.

Slobodan Rajkovic is appealing against his one-year ban

He was seen to spit at referee Abdullah Al Hilali during Serbia’s 2-0 defeat by Argentina in Beijing.

Meanwhile Chelsea have been put on alert after a report that Sergio Ramos has fallen out with Real Madrid.

The Spain defender, also a long-time target for AC Milan, has criticised the team’s
tactics and is in a contract dispute.

Apparently they have now changed the ban so he's allowed to play for his club but not the national team.

He won the appeal.

Chelsea youngster Slobodan Rajkovic has successfully appealed against a one-year suspension from football, although the on-loan FC Twente defender will still be banned for international games.

Rajkovic was handed the punishment after being seen to spit at referee Abdullah Al Hilali during an Olympic tie between Serbia and Argentina in Beijing on August 19.

A trip to Zurich to appeal against the ruling has been successful though and Rajkovic is now eligible to feature in FC Twente’s Eredivisie games.

The defender, who agreed to join Chelsea from OFK Belgrade in November 2005, has welcomed the decision although he is still disappointed at being prevented from playing for his country.

“I am very pleased with this ruling,” Rajkovic told the club’s official website. “I look forward to playing in competitions for FC Twente.

“It is good that I have always been training in recent months and can now join the group.

“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone at the club for their support at this difficult time.

“It remains, of course, extremely annoying that I have no matches to play next year for Serbia.”

Rajkovic made 13 appearances whilst on loan with PSV Eindhoven last season and FC Twente coach Steve McClaren is now keen to hand him his long-awaited debut in Enschede.

“First of all I am obviously very happy for Slobodan personally,” said McClaren. “He has put a very difficult and unpleasant time behind him.

“FC Twente can now have this talented defender again.”
