  1. Sturridge is getting a very bad press on this thread. He has only started one game this season as I recall, and even if I'm wrong, he's only started one game as our centre-forward, which is his preferred position. He has come on 2 or 3 times at the end of games and been given a chance, maybe for ten minutes, against Shakhtar he came on after 89 minutes. That's right folks, Torres, inexplicably, got 89 minutes. Let's look at that game that Sturridge got. His one and only game to date, against Utd. Sure, they were fielding a weakened team but it still included Hernandez, Wellbeck, Anderson, Fl

  2. It's all over for him really. There is are no valid defences left. To be honest there haven't been for nearly 12 months.

  3. If any other player does his job as badly as Torres has done for the last 2 years, then they will get the same amount of criticism, and rightly so. It's not scapegoating. The guy has had TWO YEARS to get it right and he is still woeful in the large majority of his appearances. Forgot his price for a moment, forget the history behind the transfer, forget even his name. Let's say this was John Smith who for the last 2 years had been toiling away putting in those performances. Do you honestly think it's good enough to lead the attack of a team challenging for 4+ trophies?

  4. That is a great article davey. And I'm sure I don't have to tell you that if you examine the 2 setups that the writer provided Torres has brilliantly positioned the Liverpool player perfectly between himself and the ball - classic hiding. I agree also with your use of the word "sadly". It is sad watching a player who's confidence is completely shot through. It is even sadder that he plays (every minute of every f**king game) for Chelsea.

  6. I wouldn't label Torres pathetic and like yourself don't really like to here other fans talk about Chelsea players in that sort of way but your own words really should be enough to help you understand why so many have lost all hope that he will ever be good enough to lead the line here if we are going to give this team a Striker that compliments the superb players behind him an gives us the trophies these boys are surely destined to win. Yesterday being one of his better games when he has played here already under three Managers is just not good enough and if he played every game in the form

  7. Gullit you are the one who labelled a Chelsea player a pathetic player... What do you expect? That is nto a debate, it's mindless hate filled posting.

  8. Had to comment about the comment "Suarez oozed danger at the weekend" as it's complete rubbish - he had 10 minutes at the end when he looked dangerous but he was in Ivanovic's pocket the rest of the game - the first half he hardly touched the ball and had zero service. Torres also had little service but worked to make his own chances - I can't argue that Suarez has a better record this season and is looking more consistent, but if you are talking about the weekend you are well off the mark.

  15. ....Bring back Lukaku next season and if Danny fails to prove himself this term, bring in someone to replace him, but he should certainly get the chance to prove himself, because the fact that Torres is keeping him out is absurd. Sort of defeats your faith in Danny then if you are going to replace him if he doesn't score goals...and how long are you prepared to give him...10 games, 20, 30 a season? Until Danny learns that its not all about 'Danny' but about a team he can sit on the bench for all I care...Danny isn't the answer and I'm not sticking up for Torres either but it is a dilemma man

  16. Sturridge has had chances. For years Kalou came on with 10-20 minutes to go and changed games was he good enough for a starting spot. No neither is Danny, he was always going to get few chances and those he has had he has failed to take. The worst part about the chances he has been given is the fact he looked worse than Torres, and that's a damning conclusion right now. Danny looked good under AVB on that right wing, Im not going to deny that but having watched him since at Chelsea and at the Olympics he has shown nothing that suggests he will be anything but worse than Toress up front.

  17. I don't think it is particularly fair to judge Torres and Sturridge equally at the moment due to lack of opportunity for Sturridge to prove himself (or otherwise). Sturridge may well turn out to be not good enough (and my suspicions are he won't) but Torres's ongoing inconsistency and lack of goal threat surely means Sturridge merits a decent run. Giving him the odd 20 minutes here and there is not a fair crack aof the whip. Before the Liverpool game yesterday Sudge had played 235 minutes of first team football this season whereas Torres had played an incredible 1,485 - what makes that even

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread

It's easy saying Falcao but after spending a near £70 million in the summer do we have the cash to bring him in? I reckon a fee of around £8 million could land Huntelaar and he could be the answer short term.

  22. ive watched the games he played for team GB, the one in the CC, his sub appearances . . . and ive seen nothing to convince me he is good enough. ofc i cant be sure, because that is not a lot of playing time, but i feel its still enough to make my decision on him

  23. How can you be so sure that DS is 'just not good enough' as a striker when he has hardly been given a run in the team this season ? Impossible to make a frank judgement on 9 min cameos. He deserves a run in the team in my opinion, at least just so we know once and for all.

  25. There are ways of saying though isn't there. Why do you have to label him pathetic? He is not performing to the level we want, we all know this it has been said 1000 times so why u feel the need to start a thread and label him pathetic is beyond me- just seems like kicking a Chelsea player when he is down. I really do find all your posts very similar and very tedious if I am honest- the word pethetic sums your posts up a lot better than it does Torres as a player. He has scored goals this season and contributed, not as much as what we need and expect but ever the less he has contributed. W

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread

Mate calm down will ya!! Just chill out!!!! Fair enough you don't agree with me, but lets not start a civil war about this. Its the childish insults at fellow fans that really do put me off forums like these. Anyways to answer your question....... Over the last 2 years, Torres has hardly if ever been injured. His games/goal scoring record is absoltely pathetic!! I've even seen on other Chelsea forums, some posters who have given Torres so much time have also given up (see quotes below) "Torres has to go in January. I would start either Sturridge or Moses up front until we can bring in a ne

Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread

I'm shooting you down because you are calling one of our players pathetic, yes. In what way, shape or form is Torres pathetic? Was it because he was one of our best players yesterday or because he helped us win the CL? Your issue seems to be with the price tag that the club willingly paid for a player who at the time was struggling for form and injury which was a stupid risk. I tend not to label players pathetic when they giove their all for the club and try hard to improve, so he hasnt lived up to what we thought...so what? Labelling a Chelsea player pathetic is a horrible thing to say a

  28. Well he looks better when dropping deep because when he is on the last man he dosn't get a a sniff of the ball. Why can united and city play 2 strikers and make it work and we can't? I'm not saying start with 2 strikers I mean when we need a goal like we did today and instead of another striker on the pitch all we have is mikel getting forward. And yes hopefully sturridge does start next week because we are going to need torres fresh for the juventus and city games!
