  2. Nobody has one single reason to believe that Roman will turn back from what he started. I would prefer a Chelsea F.C. without a sugardaddy - but if I had to chose one, I would always chose Roman. If he ever gives it to his son, we still can be very happy, as he will also be a true blue, growing up in the right place at the right time to continue what Roman has started. We should be happy and grateful for what he has done for the club and for us - without him, life at the Bridge would be much different, unfortunately.

    Eden Hazard

I thought he would get MOTM tonight, no way did I realise he would come off the bench to get it.

    Eden Hazard

Incredible second half from him, can't believe it's the same player from earlier on in the season.

    Eden Hazard

When he's sold for 50m in the summer I look forward to the inevitable posts from Barry Bridges about how he 'lacked the fight' to stay at Chelsea

    Eden Hazard

If we can have this Hazard next season, then we can start challenging again. Tonight was a start, now he needs to make it up to the fans by putting in these performances next season. Where has he been all season ?

    Our New Stadium

"All of this is pure speculation at present, but it is something a lot of people are watching very keenly." No sh*t sherlock !!! I think that Roman will pay for the stadium, and eventually leave the club to his son, he will take not one penny out of the club for doing so... This is pure speculation as well, but it is as, if not more likely than that article if Roman's last twelve years can be used as a guide. And lets be honest that is the only guide we, or anybody else has. Anti Roman press is the norm as he wont speak to them and they HATE it... f**k 'em. The constant slating of Roman and the club on here by certain posters is becoming like some kind of crusade that poisons every thread... We are being told the other foreign owned clubs are much better run than ours, and have better owners.... Really ????? PS Not aimed at you Carlshalton B, just a reaction to the article, and the incessant Roman/club bashing on virtually every thread.

I think that the Pundits on TV have a lot to do with it too. The over analysis pre and post match is, I feel to blame for this. WE get hours of nonsense in the build up, and then we get hours of nonsense again after all the build up diatribe has predictably been proven wrong. Even then, during the game we have an endless stream of stats thrown at us: "Cesc Fabregas with those 3 assists has moved to 1 assist behind Rooney" etc. Then yes, as you say, the likes of video games are another key to all this. Football manager, FIFA, whatever. They allow you to go in and train players in specific areas so they become better passers, goal scorers, tacklers, whatever. I've read people talk about players in a completely non tongue-in-cheek way based solely on what they know of them from Football Manager. Stats are useful, but I feel that they are used to fill in the gaps of never ending coverage; therefore, they are becoming more and more a part of the conversation. Dare I say, it's a very USA based influence? Baseball has stats for days, NFL is the same. They just had the NFL Draft this past weekend, and after every selection you get inundated with their stats to justify the selection of that player for the position the team needed.

    Random Rumours

we have colkett, rlc, palmer, baker, and plan on signing naingollan. i don't see where the lad would fit in exactly. just going for players who have potential is pointless when we have so many on our books already who need to be given a consistent chance in the first team or sent on loan to a good league for them to develop

    Random Rumours

Don't be silly. Why would we look at one our own when we can spunk 24m on a shiny model? Maybe to even trump the deal we could throw in a young starlet who we could buy back in 3 yrs at a hugely inflated price.

unfortunately you are fighting against the tide with this argument. you are correct, obviously, but you may as well not even bother writing it. this argument has been long lost when it comes to talking about football now. people think that more information means a more informed debate but that clearly isn't the case. this is how the majority of young people (in my experience) view football- through the hyperbole of edited footage, through computer games and through numbers on the internet. they aren't completely to blame- football is too expensive for people to watch live and often. their first interactions are through the things I mention and eventually that conception calcifies. the result is people who don't have the tools to read the game, and who see eleven independent individuals on the pitch rather than one team- a living thing in itself, made up of people dependent on, and affected by, one another.

Stats stats stats, the curse of the modern game. What's his assisted assist stat like, or his pre-key pass stat...or his get the ball high up the pitch stat. Stats are ruining people's perseption of a players worth to a team.

I wouldn't even have the cheek to demand those kind of wages. £50,000 ? i would be happy to be earning £5000. If i was a footballer and a club like Chelsea offered me £5000 a week to stay in shape, use some of the best training facilities in the world and play some football matches, i would be so happy. I wouldn't even dare say to them that i want £50,000. What Mata said the other day about youngsters is so true.
