I'd disagree with starting Barkley against spurs, they play a high press and Kovacic is a completely press resistant midfielder, Barkley, while he offers more of a goal threat, is more prone to being disposessed, Kovacic keeps the ball and recycles possession or makes space with his dribbling

Stayed in the roker hotel that night after the sunderland game .it was doom and gloom all round in that place which was a short walk from the ground, even saw a chelsea lad who was that gutted he walked onto the beach and took all his clothes off down to his Y fronts and strode into the sea . it was bastard cold that night, so god knows how cold the sea was,but said lad got out of his rising damp trance and clothed back up and sat back at the bar to finish his pint.

Skinny dipping in the North Sea- nice- I’ve mentioned it before but the lads on that coach that drove 300 miles home with a bricked through windscreen we’re also a trifle chilly that night My younger brother and his mates got a mini bus up there- there’s some game, hefty lads in that group and they had to fight for there lives getting back to the motor, which also got smashed up. For the return my older brother was on duty as a copper that night- Chelsea fan himself so he used to volunteer for Bridge duty a lot and get paid to watch games. Busy night for him that was- not sure whether it was against Sunderland or Wednesday in the previous round- they got a mauling as they came off the coaches parked by Bagleys Lane- a lot of em went back to the coaches and stayed there- listened to the match on the radio, too frightened to venture further.

Exactly, although Roman is not trigger happy like 5-6 years ago, any Chelsea manager knows he must deliver something in the first season, or else.. Let's say we drop a couple of games in December and back in the dog fight for the 4th spot, suddenly everything Sarri has done so far will be forgotten and he's under pressure. With that much pressure, any manager would go for the high percentage play of playing/buying the proven player, instead of betting his job on a 20 year old from the reserve team. This is not Liverpool or Spurs, Klopp/Poch get 3-4 years of building a team with no expectation of winning anything, of course they could take a few more chances with youth players.

    Maurizio Sarri Officially Appointed

Ill put this another way. You own a business, your employer wins you a top contract with excellent work in his first 12 months working for you so understandably you want to reward him, he takes an unexplained ten day holiday, ok beyond taking the piss but for what's he done for your company you feel duty bound to give him a chance to make amends. However for the next year he's constantly moaning and moaning at you and about you, banging on about how sh*t his tools are (while the man you replace him with is getting a tune out of a lot of the same tools that were apparently useless) even though you are paying him a kings ransom to get the best out of what he's got while he can't be arsed to even try and made the confidence of some of your other staff so low they have all gone from assets to liability's. Then after 10 months of that plus him telling anyone that will listen that you are basically a tosser and trying to set a stigma towards you and your company you finally have had enough and have told him where to go, only for him then to try and take you to court for a huge pay off, would you be so keen to "give him his sh*t and be done with it" then?

I’m all for bringing in a new winger but don’t understand the attraction of this one. He’s been marginalised by Sancho this season so unless we’re bringing in someone top level why not develop CHO instead?

This guy is always saying the right things - I just hope we can keep him but I can see Santi Santiago bringing him back to RM next season

With all due respect though, it's that type of arrogance that puts the sh*ts up these smaller teams, look at City, they're extremely ambitious in their approach, they played like 3 wingers and 1 attacking midfielder against United and demolished them. I think paying the smaller teams respect is what gives them the confidence to go out and beat us, I do love Kante but I think maybe we could try and opt out a different approach in games where we need to break down teams.

    Jorginho is a Blue

Suspect the risk of Jorginho being booked again was on his mind.

    Any game recommendation?

I’m going to rename my horse Andy Carroll because it keeps falling over and getting hurt. Also they look similar.

This one is currently looking more likely to come in than any of the others we are linked with. So may time to start looking at the bright side? :) He's done two full seasons in the first team of a pretty big club - presumably on merit - and he isn't even 20 yet. They must have seen something that doesn't easily translate into youtube highlights. So achieved a lot for his age, still young enough to develop and get better - sounds pretty good to me. Just for a bit of a tongue in cheek slightly silly comparison - Hazard's stats looked very similar at the same stage of his career.
