These two players helped define an era, a swaggering Chelse

  2. Brighton away in Sept 1983. Chelsea were quickly in their stride and when the hapless Steve Foster handled in the box, Dixon gave the visitors the lead. …a shaken Brighton stormed back. It started when Jimmy Case took a free kick that Niedzwiecki failed to hold and Young did the rest with a spectacular overhead kick. Brighton’s joy was short-lived. A minute later Chelsea scored the winner. This time it was the consistent Clive Walker who squared the ball almost from the byeline across goal. ‘Keeper Digweed could only get his left hand to it and he pulled it down for Dixon t

  3. Spurs and Arsenal are no joke, we have to accept it, we can keep calling them bottlers but the reality is that we have to be at our best to stay above them. Forget about the other teams (as ironic as that statement is coming from me) and focus on ourselves, we should win our next 6 games almost definitely, we can definitely turn this around. The only issue I have is goals, I think we'll really need to rely on some brilliance from Hazard and Pedro, because our strikers just aren't capable of scoring that amount.

    Random Rumours

Then went until the end of season and give Tammy a chance with us rather than sending him out on loan. Aina can take Moses place and sell Zappacosta. Christensen stays, potentially buy Ake whose home-grown to replace Cahill. Do Ampadu and Hudson Odoi count at the moment as home grown now or they too young?. Not sure Fabregas is 100% leaving yet, not sure the home grown issue is bad as the Mail is making out.

  7. Just a week ago Man city fans were saying how they don't have a team anymore because Aguero is injured and ignored that they also have the first choice striker for Brazil's national team, today all is forgotten and suddenly Jesus is better than any other striker in the league.

id rather not spend £30M on a short term option, we could just recall Michy and give him game time until the end of the season. We need to stop wasting money.

    Alvaro Morata

Still can't get over him saying he left Chelsea because he didn't feel important, the self entitled clown wasted more chances than any other player would ever get. First and hopefully last player i grow to dislike while he was wearing the Chelsea shirt, the sheer amount of excuses and mental gymnastics people still use for this guy is hilarious.

    Willian

I disagree and think he gives an illusion of being a good player by appearing busy. Ironically his best season ever as a footballer was last season when he had 6 goals & 7 assists in 20 starts. In comparison Pedro has 5 goals & 1 assist in 8 starts, Ryan Fraser 4 goals & 7 assists in 16 starts, Son 3 goals & 2 assists in 7 starts, Mahrez 5 goals & 2 assists in 8 starts, Shaqiri 3 goals & 2 assists in 7 starts, Rashford 3 goals & 5 assists in 8 starts. Mind you these are random picks from the top 8. Stats wise he is being outperformed by Torreira & Kante. I

    Mateo Kovačić

Kovacic is technically impeccable and difficult to press because he can dribble out of trouble, so he is very good at helping to retain possession against the Top 6 sides, but Barkley/RLC provide more of a goal threat. RLC in particular has come on fairly nicely this season. He distinguished himself versus Fulham, was the best of a bad bunch versus Wolves and provided a useful cameo against City. Kovacic is still a much better passer though.

    Alvaro Morata

Yeah he did say that he had seen someone. Just looked up the story, headline reads “Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata seeing psychologist to deal with ‘pressure and emotions’” From the looks of it, this psychologist said “keep doing what you’re doing, mate” His attitude and softness, if anything, has gotten worse.

    Alvaro Morata

I really don't see how people can honestly say Torres was a trier, they must have missed all those games where he was sulking and giving up. People make up a lot of stuff about Torres when he was here, he was decent under Rafa and decent under Jose for a few months, other than that his effort levels were incredibly weak and so was he as a player.

    Alvaro Morata

Oh I'm not disputing that; I'm just noting the irony that Anelka made an effort to look at least somewhat committed, hard-working and professional at Chelsea. He didn't cut a frustrated, traumatised figure the way that Torres did while they were both playing for this club.

Funny that you say that because Anelka at Chelsea was actually as hard-working, committed and professional as he ever would be. I remember that he spent much of his time at Chelsea playing on the right-wing without too much complaint.

LOL you're joking right? He gave Anelka a good run for his money when it came to sulking, giving up and walking around.

  21. Ha! It sounds like you had a tough time one way or another being a Chelsea fan in the early 80s. I know we’re all supposed to hate Leeds but haven’t got any personal gripe and always respected the way the fans got behind the team. Good chant by them at the Bridge probably early 2000s when they were in the midst of a barren patch ” We’ll score again, don’t know where don’t know when, but I know we’ll score again some sunny day”

    Alvaro Morata

He’s looked completely disinterested for over a year now. Didn’t think it would get to this point but I’d take Chelsea-Torres over Morata any day of the week now. At least Torres worked hard and made an effort. Morata looks and plays like he can’t wait for the game to end so he can go back to his comfy apartment and hide there until he “has” to play again.

At least Torres played like he gave a sh*t, I don't think Morata gives a f**k anymore.

  24. Very fair, it is also the reason he plays so much better in the "City" type games. When he is being tested constantly he doesn't have time to switch off, and therefore the concentration levels stay high pretty much throughout.

    David Luiz back at Chelsea

You could also see how much Pep respects his ability on the ball. Whenever City pressed they tried their best to block off Luiz and have either Rudiger get the ball or make sure that two men blocked the mid channel and force Luiz to play in Alonso. Still wasnt enough, that long crosser for our first goal is something no other defender in the prem does after him
