Never won a trophy. sh*t manager.

United have spent about nearly a billion since Ferguson left, and they still have Phil Jones and Chris Smalling starting, what on earth has gone wrong? They aren't even regular starters for England for crying out loud. That really is one of the biggest mysteries in football for me.

It has been decades since I have wanted any team other than Chelsea to win the CL, but I am fervently hoping Ajax can do it this season.

Completely understand why they did it but just slightly surprised how they did some of it. They've spent years building some of these plot threads and I'm worried they're going to either not resolve some or do it in a heavy handed way which would be a shame because the show has mostly been excellent and I'm just surprised they've limited themselves to just 6 episodes to conclude everything. I get quite invested in some of the more minor plots such as The Hound and Brienne/Jaime so I'm hoping they don't get neglected.

I don't think goals from Midfield is a massive issue, Liverpool/Barca/Real. none of these teams really have goalscorers in the middle of the park. Jorginho/Kante/Barkley - 8 goals in 89 premier league games Wijnaldum/Keita/Fabinho - 4 goals in 70 Premier league games Modric/Kroos/Casemiro - 6 goals in 78 La Liga games Busquets/Arthur/Rakitic - 3 goals in 83 La Liga games I've lost count the amount of times Luiz or Jorginho have dinked a ball in behind for one of our attackers to make an absolutely abysmal touch or finish. Look at our front line after Hazard (16 goals) in the league Pedro (8 goals), Morata (5 goals) Higuain (3 goals) Willian (3 goals) Liverpool's - Salah (19 goals) Mane (18 goals) Firmino (12 goals) Shaqiri (6 goals), even Shaqiri who sits on the bench or gets chucked on deeper has doubled Willian's output. We'll always struggle until we get rid of Willian and bring in a goalscorer up top.

to be honest I'd laugh my ar*e off if Spurs beat Liverpool in the CL final - the scousers would never, ever get over it

No way, if that was us that got knocked out on an offside goal, I would be furious.
  10. 2 points
I hope Spurs do go through, I can't stand them but I don't want City to win the Quadruple and it would be better for City to not get too distracted from the League.

Great day that was, I was there, in fact I was at every Palace/Chelsea game in the 80s. I'd been boring my old man for weeks about Pat Nevin (dad was Palace) and actually he had quite a quiet game that day as Henry Hughton was kicking lumps out of him. Then suddenly he picked up the ball and went on a run past 3palace players including Hughton. Then a few minutes later he popped up with the winner...the old man gave a look that said...dont you dare say it ? Im in a photo of this game in front of a Chelsea union jack but managed to ruin it as i was scratching my head with a programme at the time.

By Castles I assume it's referring to Duncan Castles? If so the man is a no nothing twat of the highest order and is one of the last footie journalists I would expect to have any sort of inside knowledge of the inner workings at Chelsea. Which is a myth that can be put to bed following our signings of Higuain and Jorginho.

I wouldn’t be against City going out tonight as it will help in the league as they have Spurs and United coming up. We really can’t have Liverpool winning the league. We really can’t.

Probably one of the worst delivered episode of the series. John Snow casually hopping on top of dragon and flying it and him and Danny thinking nothing of it even though only those with Targaryen blood can ride them. That entire scene was awful and handled far too light hardheartedly considering the ramifications of what it meant. Would have played out better if John rode the dragon after Samwell told him who is real father was. Bran just sat in the middle of Winterfell having a stare out contest with whoever happens to be passing through. Theon Greyjoy suddenly turning into a super ninja and rescuing his sister from the Iron Fleet without even breaking sweat. There was some good stuff in there but a rather clunky episode clearly trying to get some stuff out the way with quickly so they can lead into the battle with the White Walkers.

They'll definitely regret appointing Gunnar, we regretted appointing Di Matteo and he had a MUCH better track record than Gunnar did, Gunnar just won a lot of games with really good players who were glad to be rid of Mourinho.

    Philippe Coutinho

If we are going to fork out £100m+ on a player, I certainly hope it isn’t Coutinho. He’s good but we would be better off signing SMS or Fernandes IF we are going to spend that much money on an attacking midfielder.

    Callum Hudson-Odoi

But that's just it- he IS better. Okay, maybe not EVERY game but if you've watched all three over a period of time (rather than just the Liverpool game), you will have seen that more often than not, Willian & Pedro flatter to deceive and actually give us very little whereas CHO can take defenders to the cleaners and provides us with so much more, especially a bit of genuine pace. Sure Willian and Pedro have the odd game where they play well but they are NOT the future, CHO is, hence the need to let him keep playing and to improve and learn from his mistakes - even if that does mean the odd ineffectual game now & again.

Fair enough, if that's your opinion. I must say that it's really hard for me to take anybody seriously that thinks CHO is as good or better than Willian and Pedro at this point in his career. Two or three years down the line, maybe, if he keeps working. That being said I don't think a quality discussion between us is possible since we are obviously lightyears apart considering our assessment of Odoi. I simply can't see what he has done that would warrant the status he has with you and many other fans.

    Nicolas Pépé

I remember we were being linked to him in January as well so there could be something to the rumour. I don't know anything about him but it looks like he's had a really impressive season for Lille with 19 goals and 13 assists in the league so far this season. Left footed but plays on the right. Looks like he had a good season before being to Lille as well scoring 13 for 14th placed Angers in Ligue 1. The last Ivorian we signed from France didn't work out so badly so I'm on board for this.

    Jorginho is a Blue

Just don't think he's that good, even his best ability passing is a level below the top passers in this league. As many pointed out, the Italian league just isn't that good, our worst midfielder is playing a like a world beater at Milan, one of the best midfielder over there clearly struggles in our team. Sure, he's going to be better for a better team, I argue most midfielders would look good with City or Barcalona.

The shame, is that I actually love a bit of pyro at football. If used sensibly, it shouldn't really cause anyone any harm or distress. When, however, it is used as a missile and cowardly launched into a group of people from above, with no regard for who it may hit (in this case a vulnerable child) it becomes very dangerous indeed. It is a good job that entire fan bases are never blamed for the actions of single idiots amongst them, otherwise I might suggest that, in the 34 years since they were responsible for the Heysel tragedy were 39 innocent Juventus fans lost their lives because of them, Liverpools fan base has not learnt a thing with regards to the safety of opposition fans in football stadiums.

Really bored of my playstation at the moment. Usually manage to fill my year with Fifa and Cod, but this is the worst Fifa i can rememer (since about RTWC '98), and CoD was fun at the start but Blackout really lost its shine.

Absolutely mate, it's bonkers, but this is Liverpool FC we are talking about. sh*t never sticks to them. 34 years ago 30 odd Juve fans were killed when dippers fans charged them, we never hear about it, infact it was soon forgotten about by the club and media.

I think he is on a par with Willian and Pedro yet of course has more potential because of his age and perhaps pace. We can't compare exactly as they are all slightly different players. Willian and Pedro have both had moments this season yet also inconsistent and CHO has rarely been impressive on the Right for me. Note, Willian often plays on the Right though is also better on the Left.

Gooners could drop points against those teams but had on heart can you say you feel entirely confident of us taking 6 points off of Watford and Leicester? Our form has been so erratic this season. We've dropped points in 14 of our 34 games this season so history tells us there's a good chance of us dropping points in 2 of our remaining 4 games. You only have to look at how many goals the other teams around us have to see how a lack of goals has hurt us this season. I don't think it was just down to not having a decent striker but also having a lack of goals from midfield too. Jorginho and Kovacic in 61 appearances between them have just 2 goals. Throw Willian into the mix and it's just 5 goals from 91 appearances. One goal for every 18 appearances between the three of them... Just not good enough. Go one step further and include Kante and his 3 goals and you've got 8 goals from a combined 124 appearances. Doesn't make for pretty reading does it?

    Sarri - In or Out?

I agree with you, can't see us beating Arsenal in the final or Sarri beating Emery in a final. I just don't understand why people think this. We were a pen shoot out from beating a team far superior to us. We could have won the game in 120 minutes. We beat Tottenham over two legs in the semis. We aren't sh*t! What is it about Emery and arsenal that makes everyone think they will be impossible to beat because Sarri is our manager. Emery isn't a magician because Sevilla won a couple of Europa leagues and Sarri isn't an idiot because pep beat him on penalties. A significant number of arsenal fans don't like Emery and a lot of people are questioning if Arsenal have actually improved this season. Personally I think Napoli will beat them, but if they don't I can see us beating Arsenal 2 or 3 nil in a final. I really don't rate arsenal as a team.

Yep, I think that's pretty much it as far as our top 4 hopes go. Loads of reasons why we haven't made it but I think ultimately the lack of a decent striker has cost us the most.

Was a great night. I had a great view of Pat's headed goal from a cross by Kerry. Was usually Pat crossing for Dixon or Speedie. Was revenge for them beating us 4-0 at the Bridge a couple of weeks before.

A bit off topic but personally don't rate Ampadu's potential to be a starter at this level, looking back I think Ake showed more promise at a similar age. Would be nice to see Gary get one or two final run outs as a goodbye - given the last league game of the season may be crucial for top 4, this is probably the only remaining game we can afford to throw him into without jeopardizing too much.

Got to say Ersk I always thought the likes of John Wark, Kenny Burns, Joe Jordan and Souness if they weren't professional footballers they would have been on the pitch at Wembley 77. Swigging the obligatory can of McEwan's tartan bitter all day and going home with half of the pitch . Edit: and this Chelsea legend ?

Sad end for a club legend. Cahill has been an exemplary player for us a model professional on and off the pitch. Can’t say I agree with freezing out the club captain at all. Poor show from Sarri.
