  1. Not what any of us wanted to hear but it is what is. Perhaps start with Jorginho and then after 4 or 5 minutes bring on Kante? Kante on crutches is still quicker than Jorgi boy.

  2. It's not his squad. TT didn't have a preseason to assess it or prepare it, to buy new players to replace the ones he had no use for. He took over a team in crisis in the middle of the season, in the most difficult league in Europe at a time when the chase for top four places is the toughest, closest and the most competitive it has ever been. Add to it an extremely busy schedule and his tinkering is easily explained. Rotation is absolutely neccessary or he'll risk running his key players to the ground and lose them to injuries or exhaustion during the business end of the season. This

    Tammy Abraham

I agree with all your points However the point I was trying to make is that even with all his limitations Tammy is our biggest goal threat and when fit he should be at the minimum be part of the match day squad.

You call the performance or lack there of against WBA as a "let down"? I call it a hanging offence.

  5. Let's be totally honest here it's unlikely we will make the top 4, We effectively play with a 5 man defence, 6 including GK, our 2 central midfielders contribute close to nothing as an attacking threat, so that's 8 players out of 11 not doing much, that leaves us with 3 players to score goals, which of whoever plays none are in top form or regular scorers There are 8 games left, we'd be lucky to score 8 goals, Reckon we'd need to win 7 or possibly all 8 to make it

  6. Out of all the incredibly silly things that have happened during this pandemic, Jesse Lingard apparently turning into Ronaldinho as a late arrival to David Moyes' Champions League-chasing West Ham side ranks somewhere in the top half.

  7. They do. I’d much rather face Liverpool tbh as far as our chances of winning that particular fixture go. That said, we don’t have a hope in hell of winning the CL this year anyway, so with that in mind - if we got past Porto (which don’t get me wrong is a big IF), losing to Real in the semis would probably better than losing in the final. I hate same country CL fixtures and a semi vs Real would just be by far the more appealing prospect.

  11. It seems like they are terrified of losing possession, even and possibly especially against teams that don't have much attacking talent. They've been passing back into trouble since TT got here. It caught up to them Saturday. I find myself almost screaming LOOK FORWARD!!!!!! There will be guys open forward and they will make a risky back pass. IDK.

  12. As some have said no one has called for TT to be sacked. However those of us who supported Lamps and were willing to go throw the growing pains to give him time have had it rammed down our throats by some members how wrong we were to think that and the great run we were on prior to saturday and the Atletico results proved we were wrong. Yet some of those same memebrs have had nothing to say after saturday. A defeat far worse than any we suffered under Frank. A complete humiliation with defending as bad as Frank produced with a toothless attack against a exceptionally poor opponent.

  13. Surprised some fans have Silva back in the team. We got past Atletico without him, that defence continues IMO
    2 points
  14. I would agree with this to a degree. There was more willingness from many to show patience with Frank because he was a club legend, and also had to work last season under constraints. He made plenty of errors but we all understood he was still learning, and there was an aim to play decent attacking football even our defending left a lot to be desired at times. Tuchel is probably held to higher expectations since he came with plenty of experience and some pedigree. I also agree people in general are likely to tolerate low-entertainment football if the results are good (e.g. Jose in recent

I don't think criticising the manager for losing 5-2 at home to WBA should be considered being impatient, i don't recall people calling for him to be sacked or anything, some people are not impressed with him for other reasons, and they take this opportunity to point out certain things they feel Tuchel has got wrong, he even admitted it to be a wake up call himself.

Massive let down. Mostly from Jorginho, Thiago Silva and Zouma. It's hard for the manager to account for every mistake and on the day we were massively let down by some of the most experienced players in the side.

Over-rotation of players is a problem for us because we have a new team with as many as 5-6 new players, of which apart from Mendy all the others are in and out of the team, none of them have really settled in. It feels like we bought a new car, but were still running it in.

  21. When you are in last 8 against a beatable opponent, you go for it. Of course you do. not even worth discussing. Won’t be easy, by definition they are playing well. You have to play well to get to the last 8. Still we will be favourite. Players will be super motivated. Our champions league win came with a team that was well past its best and needed a lot of luck. Here’s hoping. The wba game was a cluster f. Good to get it out of the system. We can still give top 4 a good shove.

  22. But then can we have our cake it and eat it? Should we prioritize qualifying for next year's CL over this year's version that we're 5 games away from winning? That is what we use to meme Wenger about. I seem to remember the general consensus on here is trophy > top 4 so shouldn't us prioritising an actual trophy even if it's a long shot be applauded?

  24. I think people are also forgetting how poor Costa's linkup play was and yet his position in our team during his time here was never under question because his ability to put the ball in the back of the net was second to none. I am not saying Tammy is on the level of prime Costa but he clearly is our biggest goal threat so therefore making excuses for his exclusion is just clutching at straws.

Given we are using Werner there really is. So is Lamps still to blame that Werner cannot hit a barn door?
    2 points
  26. True but it's worrying that the story of Kepa and Rudiger has leaked to the press. It was mentioned before Lampard's sacking that the club was leaking stories left, right and centre (a journalist's dream) and it would appear that the change in management hasn't improved that aspect of the club.

  27. - Play with 2 CBs (T.Silva+Christensen) and bring back Chilwell and James as the first choice LB and RB respectively. - Play with 2 wingers (Pulisic+CHO) and build the team around Mount and Havertz more centrally. - Don't press high without the ball, press at our half of the pitch and punish the opposition fast. - Keep possession against defensive teams and shoot more from distance, make sure that every attack ends in a shot or at least with the ball going to the opposition box.

    Jorginho is a Blue

This one bad game narrative is starting to grate a little. He was a disaster yesterday but he was also rubbish last time out against Leeds, completely bullied out of the game and hardly touched the ball. Even on his half-decent days how often does the bloke churn out a MOTM performance? As others have pointed out Jorginho is smoke and mirrors. The Emporer's new clothes. Style over substance. A frippery. An adornment. Something that in the right circumstances can look pretty but doesn't actually do much. Fine and dandy when the team are running smoothly and the opposition aren't posing man

  29. Not the first time that Real just decided to show up in CL either. It's a tough season so maybe they won't have the sheer amount of energy to match Kante and Mount, if we pass Porto that is... But yea, they look really comfortable.

  32. He had 2 bad games vs West Brom now and while he was absent we played well with Dave,Christensen and Rudiger so we don't lose much by having him on the bench. I would be fine with that backline and with Gilmour and Kovacic in the midfield. I know that he kept Rudiger even after he scored an own goal but the way T.Silva,Jorginho, Zouma and Alonso played was simply not good enough and there is no Kepa to take the blame either.

  33. Why? Every confidence mount could do a very good impression of Kante, he has the energy for it. James is a tank and excelled there for Wigan. No reason to start Jorgi.

No one is calling for Tuchel to be sacked, unlike some were with Lampard. Some are really annoyed at how we lost against one of the worst teams of the PL. It was down to players' lack of concentration, or a "we are so much better than them" attitude that made them go onto the pitch as if they had won already before kick off. I said it before, I thought the line up was strong on paper, I understand the rotation (to a certain point, I think Tuchel is changing too many players from game to game) and thought that we should still have beat them comfortably. Tuchel cannot foresee the stupidity of Jo

Its not the scuffle thats the problem, I mean this kind of thing happens a lot at clubs so its no big thing. The bigger problem is how often all this kind of thing is leaked from our club now, it seems everything is getting out.

    Marcos Alonso

You make it sound like Tuchel just started picking Alonso over Chilwell on a whim, when actually Chilwell's form had fallen off a cliff, and then Alonso stepped in and put in very good performances to fully justify his selection. There's also the fact that the Alonso suits our formation better right now. Tuchel would not be doing his job if he just kept picking the same players in the same system as Lampard, which honestly I think some people here would have preferred. It's no surprise that Alonso eventually reverted to type, but to make out it was just more random Tuchel 'tinkering' or whatev

  41. They were bad, but we were also bad. We need to stop pretending that these teams are putting in worldies against us when we come up against them. We just haven't been good enough to beat them, even when they play poor.

  42. Fully agree, I understand the need to rotate players but Tuchel overdoses it, playing far too many out of position etc. Pick a nucleus, play them as often as possible and change in 2 or 3 at most otherwise combinations can't be built, understanding each other in game is needed and it's impossible to get that understanding with so many personnel and positional changes.

  43. Well, he has not been given the proper amount of time for hamstring tear. Whether that be on him for saying he is ready, or on the staff for rushing him back. A regular Joe would take 8 weeks to heal this type of injury enough to where they could resume normal activity. I professional footballer, I would say needs at least 3 months on the pine. Even then he may never come back 100%. I am not a professional athlete, but I tore both my calf muscles playing footie in the back yard. I took at least two months to heal to where I could walk without a limp. To this day I can no longer run.

    Tammy Abraham

He was our top scorer last season and is also the top scorer for us so far this season, for a team that is struggling for goals I think it's pretty foolish for your biggest goal threat to not even make the match day squad. We have an incredible squad with amazing technical ability, I think we can afford to play Tammy who may lack in the buildup stage but is more likely to finish off a move in comparison to some of our other attacking options.

  47. Not really that much pragmatic but more space for a counter attack at the very least. For example Tuchel praised Mount and others for reclaiming possession in the opposition half or in the final third but that didn't result in many goals since the opposition was already in a good defensive shape, if we just press at the center of the pitch/around our half we could then organize a fast counter attack, that would make our gameplay faster and we have players like Mount and Kante that are great at that and also Kovacic that can dribble his way as soon as we win the ball, the bottom line is fa

    Antonio Rudiger

Rüdiger and Kepa have a bit of a shoving match in training after Rüdiger makes a bad tackle. Rüdiger then accepts fault and apologises. It has nothing to do with the match on Saturday or the upcoming match on Wednesday, no-matter how much the amateur-hour journalist (Tuchel did not replace Lampard in September, ffs) tries to to imply otherwise. What's the problem exactly?

  50. I don't understand it either, the media carry on like he is the new Pep, only been in the job 5 minutes and is playing exciting football while blooding the youth and challenging for honours. The reality is he's been here nearly 3 seasons, spent money, shipped out and brought in players, played a couple of promising youngsters, taken credit for a loan player that Real Madrid either want back or want serious money for and are 9th in the league! He called the game against Liverpool 'a free hit'. Big clubs shouldn't call matches against other big clubs a free hit. Arteta is sti
