  1. Man Utd are guaranteed top 4 now so I’d rather see them beat Liverpool

  2. It's his positioning that frustrates me. Know why he makes so many great looking, last ditch tackles? Because he's normally put himself in a position where he has too.

  3. I seem to be in a tiny minority that didn't see the Zouma challenge as a pen. Yes, there was contact, but contact is not by definition a foul. Players' bodies come into contact constantly without it being a foul. It's a contact sport. Zouma did not grab or push Sterling, either of which would have been a pen. He didn't mistime a tackle, which would have been a pen. He didn't attempt to tackle him at all. He didn't accidentally trip him. Just because he made contact with him does not mean he brought him down. In my view Sterling went down deliberately looking for the pen. Taylor someh

Excellent today, should play against Arsenal keep the momentum up, Kova may not get properly match fit in time for the finals so he may be needed in them.

  6. I don't get the "we can't beat them thrice" argument. They'll quote the "law of averages" as a solid reason to be worried, whilst negating the recent previous two victories. They don't even consider the fact that TT has just played 3 of the top 4 in Spain six times and gone unbeaten, plus he beat city twice.

  7. My take on the ref/VAR. Got some calls in our favour but the officiating was poor. 1) Sterling's challenge was a red. 2) The first penalty wasn't one, Jesus jumps into Gilmour's path for whatever reason. 3) The second penalty was pretty clear, we'd be really angry if that wasn't given for us. But that said, Sterling deserves it for the number of times he's milked contact. If that was Vardy for example who almost always stays on his feet, that would be given. 4) City players committed multiple fouls that deserved yellows at the very least. The knee high trip on Pilisic

  8. Deserved and fantastic win IMO. Sky seemed butt hurt about what happened...all about city winning the pl today and we spoiled the script. Remember Tyler saying Late on that ‘guardiola is letting the handbrake off’ as if citeh had deliberately been underwhelming rather than chelsea, particularly in second half, being in control. huge victory for top 4 race. Got to make it count at home v arsenal and Leicester now. Can hopefully get it done and dusted rather than sweating at villa.

  9. Azpilicueta would have done the same because of what? This sounds pretty stupid to me, judge the individual don't label Dave with some random stereotype, he might not be like the stereotype at all he's our captain and far more mature than Sterling, I don't think he would have faked being slapped on his eye...

  13. Anthony Taylor watching Sterling 12 mins: studs up tackle to Werner's leg. Can't give a red so early to change the entire game. Yellow for him. What a c**ty tackle that is though. 44 mins: Scores a goal. Stole it from Aguero. Not surprised. 55 mins: Azpilicueta defends well and the ball rolls out of the line. Azpi hand slaps Sterling. He is angry. Azpi tries to apologise but Sterling keeps moaning. What a c**t. That yellow seems a mistake now. Should have been a straight red. 80 mins: Zouma makes a late lunge on Sterling and hits the ball perfectly. What a brilliant tac

Yeah for himself as much as us TT needs a win in the final. And far as Frank goes many of these players he had good relationships with. He will be delighted for them and the fans no doubt.

  15. Unreal result and second half performance. It's one thing coming back from behind to beat City, another to beat them at their own game. First half was pretty much what was expected, conceded a goal out of nothing and almost 2:0 and out of the game. To his credit, Mendy saved it, it was a poor take but Mendy read it well and didnt commit early. Second half we out run, out worked and out passed them, even the finishings were good if not for a couple of offsides. The squad players all stepped up, Ziyech has that class about him, and Alonso always has that goal in him. Credit for Kante and Werner f

    Timo Werner

A couple weeks ago when you first posted an update like this, I think he was on 22 or 23 contributions. At the time, I thought to myself “he might hit 30 for the season” but wasn’t too confident he would. Has a good chance now. I know we all wanted more goals from him, but for a first season in England he’s been decent enough. I think he’ll bang in at least 15 league goals next season. I think sometimes as a fan base, we may set our expectations a bit high. Costa was an anomaly as a first year Chelsea player, but compared to everyone else Werner has been competent, at minimum. The best is

In other games James has been guilty of playing sideways and going back but in yesterday's game James was our most progressive player, he drove the ball forward at every opportunity. The only times he went back or sideways was when either the options were limited or when play needed to be switched in my view he was the biggest factor we managed to turn the game around.

Well MB, you’ve certainly been doing some homework ,nice one , you’ll be giving Gol15 a run for his money MB Stato, however given my lack of knowledge or awareness even , of cum socks, washed up or otherwise, I feel unable to offer an opinion on that particular part ? but what I do think and I think you think that I think you think this too, is Pep fields a side to win games, pure a simple. Sometimes circumstances forces your hand in the players that play, but I don’t believe that Pep has ever fielded a side against us that he didn’t think was capable of winning in the semi final of the

This is a good point. Under Lampard we bemoaned the lack of leaders in our squad and were rather desperate for someone like Declan Rice to adress that. But it feels very, very different under Tuchel. You get the sense he's building a dressing room similar to our golden days under Mourinho with leaders aplenty.

  23. This is a quote I made in the CL version of the thread, go through these teams 1 by 1 particularly the PL. Out of the 14 in that line up how many would you say are not worthy for the 1st team. I'm glad you added the word mainly because you are right a b team can include 1st 11 But with squads these days being so big the 1st 11 isnt always the same week in week out so we have to look at who's good enough to be considered. Look at chelsea midfield jorgi, kante and kova is not a combination you would see all working together week in week out but are they good all good enough to be

  25. I think TT will carry on with his focused approach, whilst Pep continues to play mind games with himself (and both win and lose!), I didnt expect Chelsea to beat Citeh twice but now realise (as does Pep) that unless Citeh are right on it in the Final they will be swept away by the Chels. Of course Citeh are the favorites and the media have hardly noticed us but Citeh's run in has been relatively relaxed whereas ours has been ultra busy with important games and we are on reasonably good form. Roll on the Final ! I can see it going to Panekas!

  26. I am quite surprised that this is even a debate. If you analyze city's team, you can divide their attack into 3 part Left :gundo+foden Middle :kdb Right :silva+mahrez The right side didn't play in the two games. KDB played only in 1st half of fa cup.Gundo and foden played in the 2nd half in the two games. So pretty much we faced only one of out those three threats at any one time. Somebody said but we also didn't play our best team, this is completely irrelevant. It does not matter if you say our b team is better than their b team. We and city will 100

I think the burden of proof is on the detractors at this stage (not that there are really any left). The best CBs have bad games and make mistakes from time to time. Our very own Thiago Silva has had/made a couple. Christensen making mistakes / having a bad day at the office was just a matter of time. My guess is that yesterday’s game is to his overall path what the WBA game/result was to Chelsea’s - ie a blip, from which he may well emerge even better and stronger.

  32. Sterling goes down in the box everytime there's the slightest touch or strong wind, in this instance it back fired against him. It's a 50-50 for me, if Sterling tried to stay up then tumble, be an easy PK given. The face he almost premeditated to go down helped the referee, it's a debatable call but NOT clear error, and for once VAR stayed out of it for our sake.

The scary thing about him is he gets a positive response from everyone, even players he’s leaving out who maybe pissed off. Look at what Ziyech, Alonso, Gilmour and Callum, off the bench, did today. Only Abraham hasn’t really had a chance to respond (don’t count Emerson - although he still scored v Atletico)... hate to say it, but we should have binned frank sooner

Thought he was pretty good against one tbe best pressing teams in the world. There was one play in the second half where he drew in 2 city players, then managed to slip a pass between them and we broke away 5 v 3. 1st time he has started 2 league games back to back, and if he keeps performing, he will see more minutes.

  36. But then went off on one about how sterling should have had a penalty after saying Jesus one was a pen too. In both occasions the citeh players played for and engineered the contact. That’s not saying it wasn’t clumsy on both counts, but I’m fed up of attacking players doing this. It happens in every match. You can see Sterling slow down, put his body in front of Zouma so he starts to run into the back of him and then he flops over. the Jesus one was also a disgrace cos Taylor didn’t give chelsea a chance to get Zouma on for Christensen. * this was meant to be a reply to ballack and b

    Timo Werner

I posted this in the MOTM thread but should probably stick it up here in the Timo thread. IMO overall Werner had an awful game. Terrible touches, loads of offsides...... again! But unlike Torres, he keeps on trying, keeps on working, and he always seems to be involved somewhere in the good things that happen. Personally, on what I have seen so far, I'd swap him for Haaland in a heartbeat, but I do admire his heart and attitude and would love to see him come good.

I don't think he should be embarrassed at all, under him we took City to penalties and finished top 4, we were just underperforming for a month. As much as this has been an amazing turnaround I do hope we win vs Man City for the 3rd time, I wouldn't want Tuchel to suddenly get a negative perception or aura about him after losing another CL final so the season is far from over. My guess is that Lampard is happy but also hoping that we finish it off now with some trophy!
