    Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell

So let me get this straight... We're signing a highly rated LB, who is only 23 and will improve, who improves our first 11, who fits into our style of play, who was also the managers first choice and we've managed to knock 20-30 million of the asking price The amount of negativity in this thread is embarrassing

Seeing as we finished 4th last season with Mount playing the majority of games, clearly he does get into a top 6 side.

I just saw that today is the birthday of Ray Wilkins, he would have been 64 today. Celebrate him Chelsea by winning the game tonight.

Please stop with the Reguilon fanatics, you've watched him twice in you entire life for a full game and that's after we've been linked with him.

    Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell

Wan Bissaka cost United £50m. Chilwell is much further along as a player and will cost us a similar price. Lampard getting the player he wants no more 2nd, 3rd choice style signings like Zappacosta and Emerson.

Reguilon has had one stand out season and the only games you've watch him in was the Europa league semi and final after we were linked to him. Tagliafico is much older and never played in a top league. Stupid to say they're MUCH better options.

    Declan Rice to Chelsea?

What got on my tits about that is “would represent a major coup for Chelsea as some of Europe’s biggest clubs have shown interest”. As if we are some little squirts, the most successful English club domestically and in Europe over the past 15 years, in the most watched league in the best city...a coup..f off

    Kai Havertz coming to Chelsea

We've signed Werner and Ziyech and look likely to sign Havertz, Chillwell and Thiago Silva and people are still complaining We are basically having one of our best ever transfer windows and yet people are still not happy. Literally ridiculous

Yeah I can’t believe we didn’t analyse all the available highly rated goalkeepers in the world that fit within our budget, and we just randomly picked out a keeper from ligue1 for sh*ts and giggles. I mean all our signings this window have just been randomly picked out of Cescs old magic hat. Clueless the lot of ‘em.

    Welcome N’Golo Kante

I can’t believe fans are even considering selling Kante. We have no one in our current team better than him in his position. He’s world class. All this seems to be because of a weak last season, in which we heavily relied on him as our only world class player and played him injured on a number of occasions, further impacting his ability to reach 100% fitness. The numbers being banded about for him are sickeningly low. For me Kante in inexpendible.

    Kai Havertz coming to Chelsea

I'm about to clock off for the long weekend so things are looking up, just the long commute home left. Although the route from the back bedroom to the front room can be a nightmare at times, especially the Friday before the bank holiday weekend. Thanks for asking hope you're doing well my friend.

I'm afraid that people like you, with attitudes like that, are the main problem these days. It's OK to do what I want because I want to do it, regardless of who the f**k else I screw over. That gives you 500,000 idiots swarming the beaches of Dorset just because they wanted to, and f**k Dorset and the people there, eh? That gives you over 20 police officers injured trying to stop an illegal party with no attempt at social responsibility in London. That gives you 8 tons of rubbish, human excrement and discarded masks in the Lake District "beauty spots. That gives you moorland fires all over the place because dimsh*ts thought the middle of a heatwave was great time to have a barbecue in the middle of extremely dry heather on the hottest weekend of the year. Just because you are allowed to do something, doesn't make it right, acceptable or sensible.

    Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell

To the first bolded point: price should only be an issue for us fans if it directly impacts the team by restricting our spending elsewhere, which with Chilwell, it’s obviously not. We’re still spending at least 150m in addition to the fee for him. To the second bolded point: that is literally all you’ve done for weeks, written him off before he’s even officially signed for Chelsea, let alone had a minute on the pitch.

    Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell

Leicester fan here in peace So it appears Ben will confirmed as your player in the coming days so thought I would drop in give an insight into how its been recieved over our end The lad splits opinion amongst our fan base, some think he could become the best LB in the league, others think hes severely over rated and the money we will get for him is excellent business for us, so heres my personal thought Like Maguire, hes a good player but at the minute nothing more, we knew the 80 mill we got for old slabhead was rediculious, you pay that fee for a world class defender, which Harry clearly isnt, and I get the same vibes with the Chilwell deal Hes good at getting forward and isnt afraid to bomb on, hes fairly quick and has a good engine in him, I cant recall a time really where hes looked shattered approaching 90 mins, ok in the tackle and positioning isnt too bad But for all of that there has been more times then I can remember for us where hes got in a good position attacking for us and has either passed the ball backwards or put in an abysmal, no hope cross into the box (which is crazy as his deliveries for england would make you think otherwise) Hes very much a confidence player, the 1st half of last season he was very good, we were winning games, he had his head up and was performing well, but the games that changed the tide were Liverpool and Man City over christmas, both teams targetted our left side and absolutely ripped him to peices (particularly Mahrez who made him look like an amateur, he couldnt get near him all game) after that he wasnt the same player for us, and ask any Leicester fan they will tell you since Jan (aside from games he missed through injury) he was one of our poorer players, on the topic of his confidence, we played Millwall in the FA cup a few years back and he refused to take throw ins due to their fans giving him no end of abuse (although this was one of his first starts for us) Again you will get different opinions from all of our fans, for me hes a good professional, seems a cracking lad and does have plenty of years to become potentially a very good LB for you, but hes a player for us who I think we can easily replace (if rumours are true then it may be tagliafico which we will all be over the moon about) He leaves with all my best wishes, I do genuinelly hope it works out well for him

Apparently were adding Anthony Barry to our coaching staff from Wigan. He's highly rated defensive coach, had a big impact on wigans set piece defending.

Sorry dont believe this, we all know that everyone that plays for Liverpool has been born and bred there and always wanted to play for them, they dont spend any money at all and are the best at bringing through youth talent.

    Declan Rice to Chelsea?

Does it really matter to us fans how much a player costs? We are talking sums of money and dealings that most on here couldn't dream of being involved with. The board know what we can afford. The one thing we do know is that Marina and her negotiating team are very proficient at getting us the best deal available and if the price is considered too much we just won't sign him.

    Welcome N’Golo Kante

This seems to be the recurring theme "he's world class!", not by last season he isn't, and it can't be ignored. Kante had a long break and when we came back he still wasn't playing well, we have to be realistic here, 29 years old, lots of injuries, a game that relies around pace, if we get a good offer, we should definitely consider accepting it. I wouldn't say I'm eager when it comes to selling Kante at all, only if a good offer came in. I'm still hoping we can get the old Kante back, but I haven't been too impressed with Kante for over a year now I have to say and I don't have a lot of faith that we'll ever see the Kante we had under Conte playing for us again.
  35. 7 points
The problem is, there's always that excuse ready for him because all he does is recovering from injuries and whenever he regains fitness fans keep asking for patience. Then he gets re-injured and the cycle repeats itself. People seem to forget that Ruben isn't a youngster anymore, he's 24. He's well-liked for his modest unassuming pesonality, highly rated for his natural ability and is easily forgiven for not making good yet on his tremendous potential due to his terrible luck with injuries. But while I can definitely feel for him in the injuries' department, he certainly doesn't look like someone desperate to grab his chance of establishing himself in the team in the face of freshly arrived competition. I don't know if it's his laid back personality or post injury hesitation but he always seemed to go through the motions and just pick the safest option available. What is he going to do when Havertz joins?

Lot of doom and gloom merchants. Good signing for us, he's young, home grown. Not to mention the best English and Chelsea left back of all time thinks he's going to do the business. Trust Ash and Lamps over most. Welcome Ben

    The Marina Granovskaia Thread

And where did that war-chest come from? 60M for a want-away malcontent striker in Diego Costa that became Alvaro Morata Full Refund of roughly 60M for unloading Alvaro Morata, a want-away flop 120M+ for aging Eden Hazard who pushed for a move and had 1 year left on his contract All 3 were phenomenal pieces of business. Who led those pieces of business? it would be remiss to talk about the war chest without giving credit to the person who helped build it We're in this position because of a spectacularly run club. There are no guarantees in life, but I'm thrilled with how Chelsea has conducted business the last 24 months.

i disagree, theres been 5 different winners in the last 10 seasons in england. spain has 3, germany 2, italy 2, and france has 4 although psg have won 7 of last 8 since being taken over. Liverpool ran away with it last season, but no one team dominates for an extended period, its alot more competitive than the rest of the big leagues.

    Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell

Some seriously pathetic comments in here and some fans need to hang their heads. Acting like spoilt kids. Frank Lampard, who knows a sh*tload more about football than any of us, has wanted Chilwell and managed to get him for nearly half the price Leicester wanted to sell him. We should be over the moon, not to mention that he’s probably the best up and coming left-back in the premier league. Let’s not forget many of us, myself included, whinged when we signed Frank Lampard himself. Whinged about his price and whinged his ability and he didn’t turn out too bad now did he? I can’t wait to see him in a Chelsea shirt.

Signing one of the world's most coveted young players for a fee that doesn't even put him into the world's top 10 most expensive transfers is good business if you ask me.
