Another awful performance, make that 4 in the last 4 games now. We didn’t play well against Everton or Wolves, were lucky against West Ham and didn’t play well again yesterday.
Where is our control in midfield? Against Wolves our midfield was wide open and every time they got the ball towards the end of that game they seemed to be running forward against an unprotected defence. Again yesterday we struggled in the middle of the pitch and relied on making enough crosses for one to go in eventually. When we do cross there only ever seems to be the central striker there, who is generally outnumbered, no runners from midfield getting into the box and the opposite full back isn’t in there either. Really concerned at the moment.

Havertz needs to go more central he's been nonexistent here. RLC has been poor, bring CHO on for him and move Havertz central.

RLC has been abysmal. It is only the first half of the first game of the season so far too early to jump to any conclusions. He is still (kind of) working his way back from injury, so let's be patient.
Saying that, I really would like to see Lampard take him off at half time.

I’m far more positive about this deal at £50m than I would’ve been at £80m. Granted £50m is still expensive for a 23 year old who right now doesn’t fall in the ‘world class’ bracket but we know about the Premier League tax and that there’s a premium price on proven English talent.

He’s supposedly been Frank’s number one target at left back, is an England international and up until the transfer speculation surrounding him earlier in the season was playing very well for Leicester.

My only concern is that he won’t get a full pre season training/playing with the team because of his current injury - hopefully he can recover from that quicker than expected.

He’s holding the Chelsea shirt up on his official Instagram page, so unless we get an Obi Mikel saga I’d say he’s our player.

I think it’s really encouraging that young talent now sees Chelsea as an excellent club to play for and fulfil their potential. Pre Mount, Abraham, James, Tomori, CHO, would he have chosen Chelsea over the other big European clubs who were interested? Hopefully with Lampard at the helm we can reap the rewards of a stable structure which promotes youth and adds to the first team with the necessary quality. Exciting times ahead - welcome, Xavier.

Quite how a supposedly credible news outlet are allowed to generate transfer stories and simultaneously take bets on the outcome of those same transfers is beyond me. A couple of trusted journalists on Twitter have rubbished this rumour so don’t think there’s anything in this one.

Off the top of my head Jonny Evans has 1 year to run on his Leicester deal and has just had an excellent season - can’t see him costing anywhere near what Dunk would cost. Tyrone Mings at Villa? A year younger with recovery pace and probably available for a fee in the region of what’s being quoted for Dunk?

He is 29 in a month. I’d have no problem with the 40 mil if he was 25 or 26 but for a CB generally after 30 things start to diminish it’s a lot of money for 2 or 3 seasons.

My thing is if you are going to buy an English talent for big money, you need to be certain he is going to be a success.  Continental clubs think the fees been paid for English talent is ridiculous, and a large chunk of these players are overrated. If they fail (see Drinkwater) you are stuck with loaning them out till their contract finishes, or another English club takes them off your hands which rarely happens because of the fat wages that comes with the big transfer fees. With an European purchase (see Bakayoko), you will more likely than not have a few options continent ally and keep loaning them out till their contract ends or another continental club offers to buy them off you. I am pretty certain some continental team will offer to take Kepa on loan.

Not a big fan of spending big on English talents, with the influx of our young talents we are already stacked on the homegrown front. No continental teams are interested in your Chiwell/Rice because they are overvalued & overrated in comparison to continental talents. I’d rather we look outside the PL for quality.

Side note: In recent times spending big on full backs has zero correlation to their quality; just ask Pep. In recent times Pereira moved to Leicester for £19m, Alphonso Davies £9m to Bayern, Robertson £8m to Liverpool, Lodi £18m to Atlético Madrid, Theo Hernandez £18m to AC Milan, Mukiele £14m to Leipzig. Most of the big money buys have been duds in comparison.

I think this makes far more sense than Chilwell. He must’ve done something right to be voted the best of 20+ LB’s in the entire Spanish League. I doubt there’d be a player in the entire Premier League best 11 you could get for less than £40m so financially it seems to stack up.

    Alright, heres my two cents.
Kepa has to go! Perhaps an opportunity for some kind of exchange with him, Athletico, the Morata money and Oblak! If not perhaps Onana will be plan B.
Other arrivals might well be Rice, i rate him and like to see up and coming commanding English youngsters in the blue jersey, and Tagliafico looks a better and more cost effective option than Chilwell.
As i said in other threads i see a pretty big comparison between Firminho and Havertz, reckon he would be a quality focal point in the front line, especially with the likes of Pulisic and Werner playing off him. Although plenty of flexibility with him and most of the others.
For midfield i think Kova is pure class and i like Mount, Jorginho and RLC as other options. Kante although he has been awesome for us i think now is a good time to sell him.
So i would like to see a 4-2-3-1 setup with the below players. Listed in order of priority.
    GK - Oblak, Caballero
    RB - Azpi, James
CB - Rice, Zouma, Tomori, Christensen
    LB - Tagliafico, Alonso
Midfield - Kovacic, Mount, Jorginho, RLC
Attacking options - Havertz, Werner, Pulisic, Ziyech, Giroud, Mount, Abraham, CHO.

So significant player sales that i can think of off the cuff are Kepa, Emerson, Rudiger, Kante, Barkley and Batshuayi. With Kante worth at least 50 or 60 and the others at least 20 or 30 each you'd think this would be a significant amount of income.

Last game we needed to go with a conventional 4 at the back however against Wolves we need to play 3 at the back. We annihilated them with the 3-4-3 at Molineux & they didnt have any answer to Arsenal either when they adopted the same system against them.
However we will need to make a few changes to the lineup:
                           Willy
              Azpi- Zouma- Rudi
    James                                 Alonso
Kova- Kante/Mount (Depending on Kante's fitness)
    Willian                                 Pulisic
                        Giroud

Perhaps he might be best suited to playing as a ball playing defender alongside the colossus that is Andreas Christensen? I think those 2 infront of Kepa would make for the perfect core to our team next season.

Dreadful. Again. Caballero must be in for the final 2 games now. Kepa is unsalvageable at this stage and we shouldn’t give ourselves false hope that he’s going to improve. I don’t care whether we sell him for nothing or loan him out for the next 5 years. He’s the worst first choice goalkeeper I’ve ever watched at Chelsea, he’s probably a lot worse than some of the back up options we’ve had, too.
