Whatever Kepa thought about his injuries or whatever else is irrelevant. If the manager makes the call of substitution, at whatever point of the game, for whatever reason, whether you like it or not, you follow his lead. Simple.

    That's elementary school football.

Even if what you say about his downed tools is correct, he’s still Chelsea’s best player by miles, and the only one capable of creating magic.
How we rebuild after he’s gone in the summer will decide where we intend to be as a Premiership club. Everyone around him in the current squad look pretty average to me right now.

For me, h but most of his 90-100 passes per game are those short passes side ways as means to keep the ball. It's not threatening and opposition tend to let most of those passes go as it's purely keeping possession in non-threatening areas. He's a talented player, but I can't record he put in through balls over defenders like Cesc could. If I was after goals against a compact defence, I'd put on Cesc and take Jorginho off. He's not a good defender, and circumstances put him 1 on 1 against a very fast player yesterday, still should have taken the card and not costing us the goal. He still needs time to adapt, so let's not get too harsh on him.

It was bound to happen - lot of criticism coming for Sarri and Jorginho after how badly things went yesterday. And it is valid criticism so I only hope Sarri takes it on board and isn't too stubborn.
Folk have been scratching their heads at questioning playing Kante out of position but where we went on the unbeaten run and Jorginho was pulling the strings in many of those games it was hard to argue. But now it has gone wrong in such a big game, if he continues with the same set-up, the criticism will build and Sarri will soon find out what the pressure in the PL is all about. I for one would like to see Kante return to his normal position in the next game.

Was man marked out of the game by a barely trying Alli .... thought Barkley should have been brought on for him at the half with Kante taking that CM role. If the team is to rely on Jorginho as the midfield general he needs to learn how to operate effectively while being heavily pressed.... especially as he seems to offers next to nothing aside from his passing( not trying to be harsh, just realistic).

We play a Thursday game as well - Fulham game could easily become a draw and we may suddenly find ourselves outside the top4.

I have been saying this for two months now that both Jorginho and Kante should NOT  be in the same team, when we have such average level of creativity (except Hazard) and finishing qualities in the squad.

Jorginho doesn’t have a lot of pace (neither built) and seems to struggle with distribution when the game is fast or the  opposition presses high. In trying to accommodate him, Kante is out of his usual position and is only half the player he once was.
I just wrote something similar in the matchday thread too.

He can't be untouchable. If he's not performing, then Sarri can't be afraid to take him off and try something else. Or start with something else.

    Terrible today.
Two poor games in succession now.
Arguably should have been sent off.
The way Son scored his goal was actually quite embarrassing for a holding/defensive midfielder.
Plenty of praise on this thread but I think equally deserving of criticism for the past 2 games.
Sarri seems set on playing him in this position for the season so we can only hope he improves.

That's a myth. Same thing was said about players like Mata, KDB, Silva, even Salah. You don't have to be physical if you're technical enough to beat the opposition before they run into you.

Hate the thought of RA leaving, but there would be a queue of buyers for Chelsea FC.  One of the most well known names in football and in probably the most desirable area on the planet. But and this is a very big but, we would not get a new owner / owners who would have a fraction of Romans passion, commitment and pure love of football and his club CHELSEA FC.

    Willian: 60 m
    Courtois: 50 m
    Hazard: 180 m
    ------------------
That's close to 300 m for three players that are either already in the prime of their careers, or just past it. All three probably  have only one final big transfer in their careers.  They have given the best years of their lives to CFC.
I know there are risks, but you can build a great, great squad, and one for many years to come with that kind of money.
There would be at least around 50-75 m remaining for this season's transfers even after the Sarri-Jorginho deal. (around 100-125 m total is what early rumors suggested)
One or two young players can be shipped out too.
The only question is whether we can trust the Board, given the current state-of-affairs, to invest close to 350-400m wisely ?

It just makes us look cold and iron fisted to people on the outside.
I mean you would expect that sort of statement for a guy who came in, disrupted a winning team and had us in a relegation scrap. In reality he took over a failing side, won us a league title against all odds and last season still delivered a FA cup.
He is only 1 of 3 managers to win us a league in 50 years, we should value that a little bit more in my opinion.

Are people blaming Conte for this serious? He won us an FA Cup and a PL and lifted us out of the doldrums of Jose's last season.
Least we could have done was offered him some dignity and sacked him before making him take training sessions or better yet before engaging in a very open battle with another club to sign his replacment.

I agree that the timing of this news was inappropriate, but if has problems entering the country now (and chances are high that this may be a recurrent problem in the future), there's no point gambling 1 billion on a project that won't see immediate returns. A new stadium doesn't pay itself out in just a few years and 1 billion investment does NOT increase the club's value by 1 billion, if he were to sell the club sometime in the next few years.
I don't agree that he's using the club as a political pawn. From a purely business point of view, not risking another 1 billion is the correct move from a purely business move given the current political stalemate. Any other sane businessman would have done the same thing. And whatever philanthropic view on CFC he may have had, has taken a big hit with the visa issue.
Yes, the timing of the announcement was wrong.

We've made losses amounting to a whopping £  700 million over the last 10 years. Emotions aside, that figure alone is reason enough to get a bigger stadium, else we will fade into mediocrity eventually.

I agree with your view mate. But you can't let sentiment rule over the risks of being left far behind the others because then we won't be able to compete.... all for the sake of a piece of land. The club is the staff, people and fans, not one specific piece of turf and brick.

Lord reacted to abramovich in Torres - The "Groundhog Day" Thread
Let's be honest with ourselves, he'll never be the player he was at Liverpool, it's quite clear now.
At first, it was £50m price tag, that put him under huge pressure and wouldn't let him do what he was brought here for. Then it was lack of service, the team wasn't playing to his strengths. Then it was Drogba's big shadow that wouldn't allow him to come out of his shell, they'd say he needs to be "the man".
It's a few months short of two years since Fernando has arrived and he still looks lost. Only the most blind optimist can still maintain it's not his fault. Like Burt Reynolds said in Boogie Nights ":If it looks like sh*t and sounds like sh*t, then it must be sh*t." It's not the team, it's not the fee, it's not Drogba or lack of service. It's him.
The causes for that sad turn of fate could be various but the most obvious is the combination of injuries that robbed him of his mobility before he even got to CFC and a tough case of confidence shot to hell. I remember that Torres from years ago that used to tear our defense apart and it's evident that that Torres isn't there anymore.
It's irritating to watch him fall over at every contact and moan at the referees for help, or running into blind alleys and lose the ball time and time again. Walking down the tunnel at QPR after being subbed instead of joining others on the bench was absolutely infuriating. After all the support from the club, three different managers and fans with seemingly endless patience he has the cheek to throw his toys out of the pram after being substituted at the end of what looked like another failure of a performance.
Now, mind you, I'm not saying he isn't trying, in fact at times he looks like he's trying too hard. The point is, it's not working and we've waited long enough to erase any doubt. I don't know whether Sturridge has it him to be come our new target man upfront, but I'm fully convinced now Torres will never be that.
