    We need to sort out the GK immediately, and hopefully the LB this window, but the CB's can wait quite honestly. Rudiger might have had a torrid few months but he was great before, and the likes of Christiensen and Zouma deserve a bit more time.
    No point trying to fix all the problems in one go, fix what's urgent and then see if the less immediate stuff continues to be a problem or just looked worse because of the bigger issues.

    I wonder how this is going to affect next season. If players finish all competitions in August, and next season starts in September, there's going to be a dip much before Christmas, and the tight schedule on that period is going to be a killer. This only makes sense for the economic powers that finance the PL. It doesn't make sense to us match-going fans, it doesn't make sense for the footballers, it doesn't make much sense for the Clubs either, who some are risking injuries to their players and relegations that may be questioned given the expected dip in form after such a long break.
    I'm not interested at all in how this season ends, and find it highly unfair to complete it during summer time just for the sake of finances of some. I look forward to football once we are allowed back to stadiums.

    I know more people who either don`t want the season to carry on or don`t care than do what it to carry on. Literally the only fans who do that I know are Liverpool fans, everyone else does`nt give a sh*t.

    See multiple people wondering why the fee is that low. As someone from Amsterdam: I know! Ziyech was bound to leave Ajax way sooner than he did. But, due to a couple of factors, such as the fact that he is a player that drives on the fun of playing football and the fact that he would rather play for Ajax (close to family)in a lower league than a club such as Everton/Valencia , he decided to make another deal with Ajax. Overmars (Director of football at Ajax) and him made a deal that he would see him extend his contract, and in exchange: put in a gentleman's agreement. If a big club came along that Ziyech would want to leave for, Ajax wouldn't ask their highest price, but instead let him go for a more than reasonable price. I've spoken to a lot of Ajax fans, and they all say the same: he deserves it and we wish him the best. A little bit similar as how I felt when Eden left!

    Lots of positives to take from this:

    - He is another source of goals and assists in the starting XI (this theoretically replaces Pedro's role);
    - The transfer fee seems reasonable for a player of his quality and standing - it is also somewhat of a statement of intent;
    - We were patient in getting our man - we didn't make the mistake of previous transfer windows in signing a mediocre alternative when we couldn't immediately get the first choice (see: Zappacosta, Drinkwater, etc.);
    - He already has previous of scoring belters against Tottenham;
    - He fits into our glorious recent tradition of signing players who score against us.

    Possibly the most significant thing of all is that pretty much every source on this has reported that Ziyech is someone Lampard really wants, that Lampard was the driving force behind the transfer. It suggests that we are actually listening to the gaffer, and giving him the tools he tells the board he requires. It's almost like we thought this one through... must just be a coincidence.

    I agree with this completely, and was thinking it for the last couple of seasons. I loved Eden playing for us, and I think he's easily the most talented player ever to pull on the blue, but in recent years we weren't as much a team as just a vessel for Hazard. If we tried to play fast attacking football it was great right up until it reached Eden who 4 times in 5 would slow down to walking pace and draw in the defender, while their team would have plenty of time to get back. It also felt like most of the time our attacks followed a fair narrow range of options, mostly tied around Eden and Willian short passing or trying to run their man.
    Looking at the difference this year when we have some lightning fast attacks and real variation in attack, and its like night and day. We've lost our best player but my god we're so much more versatile and fun to watch now.

    I don't think it would be better at all. I thought hazard dragged all play towards him and he slowed the game down. When hazard wasn't performing well, no one scored. Now we are more balanced.
    This wasnt an opinion only I had last year and it's been shown to be correct. We create and score goals from more parts of the pitch playing a style of football that is closer to what sarri intended. A style that's easier to play when all players are balanced and playing together.
    Some people think when a player is involved in over 50% of all goals he is irreplaceable. I actually think that when it's a wide player its a massive warning sign

    My view is Mourinho now is what Wenger was 10 years ago. Old, dated style of football with a stubborn refusal to adapt and catch up with the modern style of play. I think this is emphasized even more due to the genuine world class coaches that are in the Premier League at the moment and how often they are adapting and evolving.
    Don't get me wrong, i love the bloke for everything he helped us achieve but he in my opinion he is done as a top level coach. United was make or break for him and he failed.

    The thing Frank appears to have achieved is replacing the Hazard centric side with a real ‘team’. On that basis, most of the players suggested have been very good but in my eyes we’ve moved away from one best player. And that’s a truly wonderful thing.

    Couldn’t agree more. Really important to allow for this. Salah and de Bruyne played a pretty big part in me coming to that realisation.
    As for our best player, I’m naturally a bit biased on Kova. Willian and Jorginho definitely contenders. But as Just said, it’s really about the team effort. So am I allowed to say Not-Hazard? Don’t get me wrong, he’s a legend, maybe the best player that ever played for us and i’m forever grateful for what he brought and the chance to watch him play. But it seems pretty clear now we were overly reliant on him. His presence in the latter part of his career with us hindered the development of the team, team spirit, and frankly it wasn’t helpful that he had one eye on Madrid - those non-committal press conference responses about his future were painful to watch and can’t have been a good thing for the team.
