I love Frank & what the club means to him. He is one of us. But undoubtedly this is the right decision. The sad fact is, under the circumstances, nobody was better placed than Frank to guide us to 4th last season, but by the same token, I don’t believe he was the right person to win us titles. He doesn’t have the tactical nous or fear factor that a top manager brings. Tuchel will also have his limitations, but he is the best available right now, and I’d be more wary of facing a Tuchel team than a Lampard one.

I don’t think it was a major problem yesterday, but we definitely lack a physical presence in the middle. Everton’s midfield were too strong for us, and likewise Wolves. Soucek and Rice also bossed us for most of the West Ham game. The only player we have with that potential is Ruben but I don’t think he’ll ever be aggressive enough. I’m sure Frank would like to add somebody of that mould.

What can we say about the man that hasn't already been said. Yes he is a managerial novice, and for most of the season our defence has been horrific (much to my frustration) but you can only work with what you have, and he has managed it brilliantly. He must be very proud. He inherited our weakest squad for years and has still managed to tick all the boxes. To finish in a CL spot WHILST blooding so many promising young players takes some doing.
An FA Cup victory would be the icing on the cake albeit does not define the season. If you'd have said 4th at the beginning of our season most would've said you were barmy.
A couple of defensive reinforcements to go along with our already enviable attack, and Frank may be leading a title charge next season.

No, that is true, but his size will mean that he will lose a fair percentage of aerial duels and battles against more physically imposing players and much tougher tests are to come. I think that's why Barkley and Mount did so well in working with him as a collective force yesterday, as Frank pointed out.

I think young Billy has played his way in... I can't see Kante being fit for another few weeks, and it would take some balls by Frank to change a winning team.
He is simply a revelation and what he may lack in defensive attributes is made up elsewhere in the way he makes the team tick.
In my opinion, in terms of natural ability and the confidence to back it up, I haven't seen a young player like it since Rooney, albeit perhaps not as explosive.

Wow. What to say about last night other than congratulations to Bayern - all you can do is admire them. What a team and performance Based on that, I'd be amazed if they didn't make it to the final and really hope they give Liverpool a sound beating in the process.
Regarding us, well, if ever there was evidence needed that we are light years away from competing at that level, there it was. So many players just not good enough. So much deadwood or so called 'young' players that are just not going to be good enough. Christensen & Barkley well out of their depth. I suppose that's what happens when you're not able to add to what is essentially a Europa League team playing in the last 16 of the CL.
In my opinion, with everyone fit, we are about 3-4 top class players away from really being able to compete for the league title, and if we want to beat the likes of Bayern et al, maybe even 6-7. It just shows you how poor the standard of our league has been for us to still be sitting in 4th.

He has my total backing and I wouldn't swap him for anyone else. That's not the point. I'm judging his managerial ability on what I see, not on who he is or how I feel about him. If he were any other manager he'd be being judged a lot harsher by a lot of posters here, despite the mitigating factors.

Let's look at those mitigating factors. Zouma, Pulisic, Kovacic. That's not a bad summer for a club with a transfer ban. James, Tammy, Mount, Tomori, Callum. All very worthy of being in our squad, and all more or less new players. Yes we lost Hazard, yes Frank hasn't been able to bring his own players in, yes expectations were low as a consequence, particularly as Frank is new to all this. I actually expected us to finish in the bottom half. I don't see these difficult circumstances you describe. The Chelsea boss is usually under intense pressure to deliver instantly. Not this time. The Chelsea boss usually has the press on his back from day one. The press absolutely love Frank. I'd say this was the best possible time for him to take over and get his feet under the table, and let's face it, were it not for these circumstances, he might not have got the job in the first place. He's here precisely because the pressure's off, at least in the short term.

I look at teams like Sheffield Utd, Wolves, Leicester, and I see teams that play well, that are clearly coached well. Teams with a method, with a strategy. Teams that make the best of what they've got. Teams that look like a cohesive, well-drilled unit. I don't see that with us. I see our midfielders pick up the ball in our own half and struggle to make a progressive pass, because they lack options, because we have no pattern. Team selections are puzzling too. Barkley was given a chance, played really well in a couple of games, consigned to the bench, even though Mount is really struggling. Christensen continually being picked is another strange one. Kante being picked on reputation solely, etc etc.

Our form over the last 15 games is really poor, relegation form. We're better than that. 15 games can't be considered a slump. He has to arrest the decline. We had an amazing chance of finishing top four, but we started dropping points, and Frank's been powerless to change that. He thinks it's all about finishing. It ain't. It's about something far more structural, in my opinion, but Frank can't seem to see it, or remedy it in my opinion, and that makes me worry for his chances of ever becoming a top coach.

I want him to do well, I want him to be given time, I'd love us to stick with him and give him a proper chance, even if we're really floundering, but ultimately he has to prove he's the real deal, and judging on the little evidence we have so far, I don't think there's any evidence of that. I hope that he learns and develops into one, obviously.

You can't help but love Frank, however last night for the first time I thought ''Oh Frank, give over!''. It's embarrassing, and unless he's constantly trying to shield the players, completely naive.
The same post match press conference every week. ''Wasn't that sort of game. Can't score. Need to work and improve. Our season starts here''. I don't think trotting out the same old catchphrases each week really cuts it given we've not played well for about three months. You have to admire his ability to appear positive but he is starting to resemble a dodgy (and somewhat out of his depth) car salesman who uses the same old spiel on every poor punter that happens to stumble in. It's time for drastic change, either in attitude or approach.
I accept the glaring holes in our squad, but he has to start telling the truth. The first thing any weak team/manager has to do is to stop leaking goals. Our defence is shambolic. Every chance that falls to any opposition player almost certainly ends up in our net. Teams have two shots on goal against us, and typically end up scoring both. He needs to address it fast. The current personnel/system is not working. There was a period of time when the partnership of Zouma/Tomori actually started to look like our best. Why has Tomori been completely frozen out, and why has the return of Rudiger actually made us worse!?... We even played 3-5-2 for a while and whilst it may not be Lampard's preferred system, we have to stop conceding every shot against us.
Having such concern about not taking our chances is completely flawed unless you have a team strong enough up front to comfortably score two or three in every game - something which we are clearly not capable of right now.
Start telling it like it is, Frank. We desperately need something new otherwise forget 4th (5th) place - we'll be lucky to finish in the top 10!

A few games ago he looked like our weakest link... Wow, what a player we seem to have on our hands. That third goal was pure class.
Just shows how important a bit of confidence is, and credit to Lamps for providing it, too.
Very happy being proved wrong here. Same again against Liverpool please Tammy.

Surely going to come into the fold now that Zappa is gone. Question is, will Lampard throw him in, or will he be limited to cup games etc.
He looks absolutely huge, though doesn't seem blessed with blistering pace - maybe it's just me.
If we tighten up our defence with him in it, I think people will be in awe of a team containing James, Mount, Loftus & Hudson Odoi.

Great little interchanges in midfield. Really impressed with how Frank/Jody wants us to play and I think everyone associated with the club can hold their heads high. Feeling quite positive despite the defeat - I just hope we keep the faith & continue to play the same way. It’s great to watch.
Penalty aside, I genuinely think Tammy is the weakest of our youngsters. I’m really not convinced he’s going to be strong enough at this level. I worry where our goals are going to come from.
Mason looks an amazing prospect whilst Tomori seems very assured (and rapid!). Think we have two diamonds on our hands there.

I wouldn't be nervous about the fans getting him sacked. The board were willing to stick with Sarri, but he wanted out. Obviously didn't love his project or the club enough to stay. Most people will understand that Frank is going to be in an incredibly challenging, unique situation and will be making the best of it. I actually think it's a very smart move by the club given the transfer embargo. Which experienced manager would want to come in under the circumstances? Who else knows the existing crop of players better?

Elliott got a reaction from City Beautiful SC in Christian Pulisic - Official
To add a bit more optimism here, we've just secured the largest transfer fee for any US player, who, at 20 years old, was one of the most sought after young talents by European clubs. He's already an experienced pro and a regular international where, if I remember correctly, was one of the best players on show against England in a recent friendly. He can play on either wing, or as a no10, and apparently, is also a great professional and a hard-working lad.
This is after the club invested a world record fee for a young goalkeeper (now 24), where Zidane went on record to that Madrid wanted him (and came close to signing him prior to the buy-out clause being inserted).
And this is whilst the club, despite outcry from various pundits and media outlets to the contrary, have been giving decent amounts of game time (when they have been fit) to Loftus-Cheek (22), Hudson-Odoi (18), and Ampadu (18), to name a few. Not to mention the other top young talents we have out on loan (Mason Mount, for example).
We may not be a perfectly run club, but I'm struggling to see a downside with this. Prior to FFP, we tried, and a lot of times failed with big money signings where players were past their best. We're now seeing evidence of a slightly different approach, and it's being written off before being given a proper chance.
