That was a scrappy win but we were envying Manure for how they were grinding out lucky and scrappy wins. So first step towards recovery.

So if Frank plays Havertz, people complain about it because he's been piss poor. When Frank doesn't play Havertz, people complain because he is the most expensive player and a great player to become. FFS can we just be consistent in the criticism?

'Cos it is a bad thing. Majority of Chelsea fans are fed up with the merry-go-round of managers and we want a bit of stability and what better time and what better person to implement that than a club legend like Lamps.
Sure, the win, fire the coach, win again worked for a while but that is because we got top coaches like Mourinho, Ancelotti, Hiddink, and Conte. But there aren't that many great coaches out there now and we need to show a bit of faith in someone who will hopefully become one of the next top coaches.
I have always maintained there is a huge amount of luck involved in management. Even Mourinho, Guadiola, Ferguson, Wenger, Ancelotti, Klopp, Wenger etc etc have riden their luch at various times and all have periods where they don't win anything. Look how the Southampton manager has turned things around when he was on the verge of the sack after the 9-0 home defeat to Leicester and they looked relegation certs. And look at OGS at United. How we have all taken the piss and laughed at Ole at the wheel, only for them to now be top of the league!
I'm not suggesting we should stick with Lamps just because he is a club legend but I think he certainly deserves a lot more time and a bit more faith before anyone should even be contemplating a change. Fortunes can change so quickly in football and we need to get out of the habit of changing the coach every time things don't quite go according to plan.

And I have to be honest and say that bold bit is bollocks.
If we scrape a drab 1-0 win in every match between now and the end of the season, that will still be 89 points, probably good enough for top 4, the FA Cup and the Champions league.
Not one of you moaning minnies would be whingeing on about changing the manager then.

City did a pretty good job with Manure as well, especially the second half, just saying. I don't complain much about City, they are a top team hitting top form, but the performance against Arsenal was disgraceful.

I don’t think we are anywhere near to the situations we were when Hiddink took the interim jobs.

You can not expect a coach with one season and a half at the top flight, and no more than another season at the championship to have a clear vision and know it all in tactics. I see how Lampard wants Chelsea to play, but I understand that it is going to take a while until he has the clear plan that works. It’s fair for fans not wanting to have patience and prefer to bring in the Mourinho of turn to win a trophy and F off to some other team afterwards. But I’d rather we gave him time to learn the trade with us. Just like I rather we gave Gilmour playing time to bring in other midfielder.

I don't think anyone is defending the way we are playing now, it is those who want Frank out that are defending the sh*t, boring football we mostly played under Sarri. As I said before, I defended Sarri and my god the amount of money I wasted going to games all season (and yes, I was at that City match at the Etihad as well), but I did defend him because I saw what he wanted to play and thought it was good to put up with the crap as the mean to an end. But he didn't want to stay, so bye bye and thanks for trying. Similarly, I see what Frank wants to do here and, even though now we are going through a bad spell of football, I want to stick with him as I don't think this is just down to him. The players are so lethargic that you can see in their faces that they have very little energy. Other teams have looked lost too this season, and others will get back to the slump. I like the idea of football that Frank has brought (play the youth, high intensity football, and more direct attacking football than Sarri) and, also, I don't want to go back to the merry-go-round of coaches.

Agreed the Sevilla and Leeds game were great which makes what has happened since even more head scratching, how can we go from that to looking so structurally broken so quick? I'm someone that always tries to source out positives even through rough spells but recently i'm feeling mentally drained watching us. My worry is history shows when things snowball this badly that's it, you say you don't like the hire-fire structure and i understand why you have those feelings but without letting AVB go we don't have the best night in our history, without letting Mou go (against the wish of almost every supporter) we don't get Conte and another title (as much of a c**t as he became afterwards that season was truly special).
One thing is for sure however and that's Lamps will be incharge at Craven Cottage (unless something goes unbelievably bad vs Morecombe) and the only thing i ask is something in the performance that gives me hope that Lampard can sort this out, decent passing combinations (especially through the middle) and a structure/identity to our play, if that happens i'll be largely happy even if we drop more points. We have two free midweeks this week and next and most of the starters will get this weekend off, it's a perfect chance to get to work on the training ground and do some big tactical drills, hopefully that's what we're doing.

But that's just it, we have seen progress even this season, we have played well against Leeds, Sevilla, or coming back against West Brom (three down due to individual mistakes, we would not have come back in recent previous seasons), and I thought we started well against ManCity, or we showed glimpses of good play against Villa. I'm sorry, I'm not all doom and gloom, there are several clean sheets and good attacking at the beginning of the season. You can see now in the players faces that they are shattered, OK, we are playing crap and that Arsenal game was disgraceful, but against City you can see that players are all over the place but can't really run and are just basically jogging. I put that down to tiredness and we'll get over it. But mostly, I don't see any long-term manager available at the moment and I don't want to go down the hire-fire route again. Let's see how Frank does this season, which is what an interim coach would do, and assess at the end of it. But that's just my opinion.
