I think he wants to stay. He has been with us for 6 years now amid all the speculations with Real over the years. But he is being let down by the club forcing him to play alongside the likes of Bakayoko and Drinkwater. Hope we get someone like Leon Bailey so that he's happier to stay here.

I always wanted Luiz in midfield, If DW's true level is as average as his last few games then Luiz really is our best midfield partner for Kante. He has a good range of passing, joins in attack and uses his physicality well.

    nail on the head.
A good partnership should mean one player makes up for the others flaws and vice versa. We basically needed a fabregas type player but with a bit of athleticism to play in a 2 man midfield in the premier league. Seri would've been perfect considering he has a buy out clause, less than we paid for either bakayoko or drinkwater.
We don't have enough 'footballers' in the team, and it is so frustrating to watch hazard try to do everything.

He's an average player and ultimately redundant with Kante in the side. A Kante partner has to combine the physical aspect with great technique and an ability to make quick, forward incisive passes and quick decisions on the ball. Chipping in with goals is also a bonus. Bakayoko has none of these qualities and it's not even his fault. Anyone who watched him in Monaco already knew it.
He's a terrible fit for us whether it's a 3-5-2 or a 3-4-3. He's awful in either one as he lacks any sort of creativity, passing skills, goal threat and is an average defensive midfielder compared to Kante.  Why our board decided to prioritize his signing is truly beyond me and further speaks to their grotesque incompetence.
The only thing he has going for him is that he's still young but Kante's presence at the club and Bakayoko's skill set casts a shroud of mystery as to his future as a CFC player. You just don't wake up and all of a sudden become a good playmaker and a capable goal-scorer having shown zero signs to ever be that at age 23.

Back to his worst again tonight. I know other players were bad too, but this guy was lazier than i have ever seen him. He did nothing good for us, he looked anonymous throughout and it was like Kante was doing the running for him, something that Kante has been doing pretty much all season. Even when he did get the ball he put little effort in to keep it and help the team progress. It's a good job he is playing next to someone like Kante and not Dennis Wise because somebody like Wise would be screaming at him just to get him to wake up. He's a passenger.
There is a player in there, but the attitude stinks, he's just doesn't look interested enough to put the work in.
I have been saying it all season, he is doing nothing that Chalobah or Loftus-Cheek couldn't have done.

They are both Lazy without the ball and dont press effectively at least Michy is improving in that regard. Giroud is 31 years old and isnt going to turn to a hustler all of a sudden. Most people are thinking of Giroud because of the previous sasons. He hasnt done anything this season and why buy a striker Arsenal want to get rid off to upgrade their offence. Our recent signings give me the impression we want to be the next Arsenal . Penny pinching because of a new stadium
    Drinkwater
    Barkley
    Giroud
Below our standards.  Wouldnt suprise me if Hazard left in the summer and i wont begrudge him. He can see a team getting weaker every transfer window

Makes no sense why we are swapping a chelsea benchwarmer( Batshuayi) for an Arsenal benchwarmer..  He is a lazy version of Batshuayi. I would rather we keep Batshuayi and just  loan a striker to beef up the squad. Anyone but Giroud

I quite like Rondon! I'm of the opinion that their are certain players in the Premier League, that play for certain clubs that are definitely holding them back. Rondon is one of them. Playing for a mundane team with a static midfield like West Brom, how's he going to get good service? Another one is Jordan Ayew of Swansea. Definitely deserves to be in a better team than that mob.

I actually thought he was pretty decent yesterday, and i have been one of his biggest critics. I thought he did what he was mostly signed to do. Break up play, get us out of tight situations and occasionally burst forward with power. Also, that pass into Hazard in the second half was spot on. If Hazard didn't lose his balance and scores from it, everybody would be praising that pass.

it's funny how when he has a good game, there's a sentence or two on his performance, but when he has a bad game there's page after page of pointing out his flaws and poor performance. i swear some people feed on negativity.

We have seen how good he can be. A defender can look good/poor based on a lot of things. GC did not look great in bolton and i remember the hue and cry then.
If Luiz is a goner (as it seems to be), I would definitely have Zouma as my 5th choice CB, specially with GC coming towards the end too. No point in buying a 30/40mil defender specially when we need that money to buy world class players for wingers/forwards.
PS - If conte is not going to be here next year, and we are going to shift to a back 4, I would say zouma should definitely stay.
CBs - Zouma, AC, GC, AR
    RBs - Azpi, Zappa
    LBs - ?/Alonso

Why not? He proved that he's capable of winning trophies on a smaller budget than his opponents, and he did it in his first season in England, without getting a single player he asked for.
Imagine what he can do if he gets an open chequebook and doesn't have to operate within the confines of "sell to buy" system.

    So... A 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 then.
Fabregas has two behind/beside him. Some width further up ahead and close to the striker
    Sorted.
(Bah! I should be a manager. These people always over-complicating things.)

There shouldn't even be a comparison. Morata's been inconsistent, Torres was crap in every way imaginable. To put it in perspective, Morata is 10 goals away from Torres's overall PL goal tally for us with 90 games to spare.

Not buying that argument personally. If he hadn’t stripped that squad of so many players, and then moan about not having numbers in things wouldn’t look that bad. As things stand we are on course to spend £250m without having strengthened any first-11 role.
He could have kept on Zouma + Ake, moved Azpi to RB and either bought a top LB/CB. Instead we are about to spend £85m on our defence without any of them being starters.
In Midfield, he could have kept 2 of Van Ginkel/Chalobah/RLC, and signed a potential world class talent like Savic for £60m (now you will need £90m+). Instead we have spent £85m & signed Bakayoko, Drinkwater & Barkley. Not an upgrade IMO
Upfront we are potentially going to spend £85m+ on both Morata + Dzeko, and Arsenal are about to spend £50m on Aubameyang a clear upgrade on both players.
off my head, we are spending £650k/w on wages for 8 players when we could have bought 4 top class ones (Aubameyang,Savic, Mahrez, top CB/Sandro) for the same amount & around the same wages. We would also have had enough spare cash to sign Barkley in Jan if need be.

Our net spend is tiny compared to the two manc clubs and that makes all the difference. Not only you can spend vast amounts of money on fees and wages, you don't have to sacrifice the quality of the squad. You don't think Conte would prefer Pogba to Bakayoko, Walker to Zappacosta, Van Dijk to Rudiger and Sanchez to whatever 'young attacker with potential' we're going to buy for 30-something pounds next summer?

I’m not being cheeky, but have you seen the players we have spent that money on? We’re definitely not being smart by splashing large amounts on players like Bakayoko, DD & Zappacosta.

I get what you’re saying but spending money wiser would be getting younger players with high potential like Monaco got Tielemans for £20m for example.

We just seem to want to spend large amounts on bang average football players, which is the most worrying strategy we could adopt IMO.
